It’s comedy central at Larmer Tree this year!  The festival is thrilled to announce Stephen K Amos as its final comedy headliner, completing the rib-tickling comedic line-up.  Plus, Norwegian newcomer and YouTube sensation, Daniel Simonsen has also been confirmed, and for the first time there’ll also be a daily slot of funny, clean comedy dedicated to children in The Social with Comedy Club 4 Kids. 

Providing a sure-fire night of laughter on Saturday, audiences will be charmed by Stephen’s almost child-like joy and exuberance, and his ability to find the funny side of things in even the most unexpected places!  Having entertained audiences all over the world, he has numerous TV credits under his belt, including his own TV series The Stephen K Amos Show. 

Larmer Tree Festival Co-Director and comedy programmer, Julia Safe, said:  “Each year it seems a daunting task to improve on the previous year’s amazing comedy line-up, but I’m very pleased to say we undoubtedly have in 2012!”

Stephen joins a stellar line-up of comedians ready to take to the mic and bring rapturous laughter to the enchanted gardens this year.  Top of the bill is comedy genius, Tim Minchin, who’ll be given the great accolade of being the first comedian ever to grace the festival’s Main Stage.  Rock superstar, Tim and his grand piano will be wowing audiences on Thursday night with a unique blend of musical comedy.

Heading up the ARC’s Comedy Club on Thursday evening will be Greg Davies.  Possibly best known for playing the psychotic Head of Sixth Form Mr Gilbert in Channel 4’s The Inbetweeners, Greg’s also appeared on numerous TV shows.  Next up it’s the multi-award winning comedian, Milton Jones, who’ll be drawing the Comedy Club to a side-splittingly funny close when he headlines Sunday.  Festival-goers will have seen Milton on Mock the Week (BBC2), and more recently on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow (BBC1).  He’s also had his ninth radio series commissioned for BBC Radio 4.

Bringing their indomitable late night festival fanfare to Friday evening is the fifth and final comedy headliner, The Horne Section.  Gathering together the UK’s finest jazz musicians and throwing them on stage with the world’s most exciting comics - Alex Horne has created a truly unique brand of jazz-infused comedy. 

Plus, the Larmer Tree team is very pleased to welcome Comedy Club 4 Kids to the festival.  Tailored for anyone over the age of eight, it features the best comedians on the circuit doing what they do best... but without the rude bits!  Families can now enjoy the funniest acts, swear-free at lunchtimes in The Social.

It’s not just about the comedy, there’ll be more than 70 eclectic artists performing over the five day festival. Joining firm favourite Jools Holland, other not to be missed headliners include Paloma Faith, Amadou & Mariam, Levellers and Roots Manuva.

Tickets include all entertainment, free parking and camping for tents, caravans and campervans, so there are no additional costs.  A three day ticket costs £140 per adult but festival-goers can enjoy a four or five day weekend for only an extra £25 or £50 respectively.

We totally love comedy at Camp Bestival and we’ve always made sure we’ve given you the best that the comedy circuit has to offer and this year is no exception! We’ve got laughs aplenty for all ages in our side-splitting line-up of top drawer comics who will be joining our previously announced comedy headliner Jimmy Carr at Lulworth Castle this July 26-29.

For this one Rob da Bank would like to introduce Camp Bestival Comedy Guru, Get Comedy’s Brett Vincent who says: “Once again Camp Bestival has a stellar line-up of comedians over the weekend from some of the best emerging talent on the comedy circuit to famous TV names and the beat-boxing noise maker legend that is Michael Winslow. We’re also very proud to be the only music festival this year and possibly ever to host the biggest face in comedy (literally) Jimmy Carr. We also have dedicated comedy shows for kids with the best kids comedy show at the Edinburgh Festival last year… The Adventurers Club and now firmly rooted resident at Camp Bestival – Comedy Club 4 Kids. We’re delighted that Police Academy legend and ‘Man of 10,000 Voices’, Michael Winslow will be wowing the crowds at this year’s Camp Bestival. An utter genius who does the seemingly impossible with just his voice, anyone who saw Michael at last year’s Camp Bestival knows they’re in for an unbelievable treat! We’ll also have Cheryl Cole impersonator extraordinaire Rufus Hound who will be joining us on the Jurassic coast to unleash his moustachioed comedy mayhem. Known for his turns on Celebrity Juice and Argumental, Rufus is a master of his art and one not to miss, plus we’ll have a high octane outing from Camp Bestival favourite Andrew Maxwell who knows something extremely funny about everything. 

Those with a satirical bent will very pleased to know that the Early Edition will be returning to Camp Bestival once again. A live comedy panel show hosted by Marcus Brigstocke and Andre Vincent, The Early Edition tears into the tabloids, lambasts the broadsheets, ridicules the naysayers, unravels the spin and pooh-poohs the pomposity of headline print.

Also adding to our festival frivolities will be the edgy and provocative Ian Stone who was recently voted one of Britain’s top ten stand ups by the Independent, Ben Norris who you may have seen recently on Mock the Week, Andre Vincent who once opened for Bob Hope and played himself on Byker Grove and Benny Boot who was by far the stand out performer at the Altitude Festival in Austria this year with our moustachioed friend Rufus Hound commenting: “Benny Boot offers something unique. I'm not sure exactly what it is, as I couldn't concentrate - I was laughing too damn hard!”

And there will be top turns from Joel Dommett who was a regular on E4’s Skins, has appeared on Russell Howards Good News and can now be seen daily on MTV reading the news, Camp Bestival regular Eric Lampaert who you’ll know from the TV channel VIVA and who is T4’s rising star of 2012, Paul McCaffrey, who at the time of writing this press release was on Russell Howards Good News this week, George Egg who over the years has won legions of fans with his oversized suitcase of props, fantastic songs and who  is one of the only comedians who is described as a cross between alternative stand-up and music hall variety and ex-Labour Party stalker Matt Forde who currently has his own 5Live show and is regular on Jon Richardson’s and Russell Howard’s radio shows.

It’s not all grown up comedy capers at Camp Bestival though there’s plenty of hilarity for the kids too, including Comedy Club 4 Kids with regular compere Tiernan Douieb which is back for the third year running. Cracking entertainment for the young’uns Comedy Club 4 Kids is comedians doing what they do best but without the rude bits! And brand new to Camp Bestival this year is The Adventurers Club with Tim Fitzhigham. A smash hit sell-out kid’s show from the Edinburgh Fringe the Adventurers Club is off on a trip doomed to failure. Make sure you catch this award winning show for an afternoon of sheer hilarious adventure!

 Richard Herring is one of the UK’s most prolific comedians. He recently completed a UK tour with critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe show, Christ on a Bike: The Second Coming. Richard finished the latest series of his Chortle Award-winning and Sony-nominated audio podcast and sketch showAs It Occurs To Me in Autumn 2010, his new book How Not To Grow Up was published in May 2010 and the DVD of his acclaimed stand up show Hitler Moustache was released in October. He also wrote and performed in the 2010 Radio 4 series Richard Herring’s Objective.

Richard’s recent TV appearances include Genius (BBC Two), Have I Got News For You (BBC One) and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. He has recently hosted the Saturday morning breakfast show on Radio 6 Music with Andrew Collins and recorded the weekly Collings and Herrin podcast (on a laptop in Rich’s attic) getting up to 50,000 downloads per episode.

Richard has established himself as a leading playwright at Edinburgh, penning and appearing in several critically acclaimed plays including Punk’s Not Dead, Excavating Rita and It’s Not the End of the World. His one-man Edinburgh shows include Talking C*ck, Someone Likes Yoghurt, ménage a un, Oh F*ck I’m 40 and The Headmaster’s Son. Richard’s blog Warming Uphas gained a cult following since he began writing it in November 2002 and has written an entry for every single day, well over 3000 consecutive entries.

As one half of the prolific comedy duo Lee & Herring, Richard Herring enjoyed phenomenal cult success as a writer and performer with shows such asLionel Nimrod's Inexplicable World, Fist of Fun (BBC Radio 1/BBC Two) andThis Morning with Richard Not Judy (BBC Two).

With Al Murray, Richard devised and wrote 37 episodes of the sitcom Time Gentlemen Please (Sky One/Paramount) for Al’s alter ego The Pub Landlord. Richard also wrote and starred in the comedy drama You Can Choose Your Friends (ITV1).

Matt Berry @ The Masque Theatre Liverpool

Fans of the IT Crowd, Dark Places and of the man himself gathered in the Masque Theatre to witness a one off unique event. Matt Berry had come to woo them with his silky vocal talents and his unique brand of musical entertainment, and he didn’t disappoint. Entering on stage like Elvis Presley after a 3 minute build u, holding onto a Jack Daniels bottle which was almost as big as him, Matt went straight into the first number. That all too familiar voice bellowing out over the musicians.

With such classics as snuff box and Witchcraft the crowd lapped up both the humorous lyrics and Matt’s laid back attitude. In between songs the banter between him and the crowd was almost as if it was scripted and as soon as “One Track Lover” was played the obvious Garth Merenghi fans applauded and sang along.

The musicians themselves were faultless. The guitar player in particular was something to behold. Looking like Rodney Trotter with a curly wig on, he played like a man possessed by the ghost of Jimi Hendrix. The music itself varied from “reggae” to out and out funk-a-delic that would make George Clinton and Prince happy men. The Musicians were tight and played to Matt’s outlandish behaviour.

The encore itself was truly a masterpiece of invention. Singing “Jesus Christ Superstar” Matt left no doubt to his pre-conceived notions of himself and to be honest they were well deserved.

My only complaint to the whole night was the lack lustre crowd that had turned up to see Matt Berry. I think even at times during the end Matt seemed to be getting tired of trying to get some sort of interaction with the majority of the crowd and quite rightly so. But apart from that, this was a tremendous gig. Full of enthusiasm, humour and barrel loads of laughs. This has to be seen to be believed and as Matt Berry himself says...”Liverpool...you’re clever.....I LIKE THAT”

Liam Gallagher threatens to 'deck' Peter Kay

Liam Gallagher has continued his feud with comic Peter Kay, who took the mickey out of him at February's Brit Awards. In his latest outburst, Gallagher make a joke of Kay's weight, and threatened to beat him up if the two ever run into each other, after the funnyman labelled him a "knobhead" at the awards ceremony. Gallagher said, "Talking of knob, have you seen yours lately, you fat fucking cunt? Know what I mean? Bet he ain't seen his for years. That is one cunt who'd get decked if I saw him on the street, believe you me." Meanwhile, Gallagher also laid into his brother Noel, saying he would "leather him" if the two bumped into each other. He also compared the guitarist's friendship with comic Russell Brand to that of Neil and Christine Hamilton (Shortlist).
