World Renowned Irish Folk Singer and Accordion Player Brendan Shine is to make his first appearance at the St Helens Theatre Royal on Thursday 12 May at 7.30pm.
Since starting out in 1973, Brendan Shine has released over 40 albums and had 35 hit singles, 15 of which reaching number 1 t in Ireland. Shine is best known for his songs "Do you Want your Old Lobby Washed Down" and "Spuds" the prior of which sat at number one for twelve weeks in Ireland and crossed into the UK top 75.

Brendan has appeared across the globe in venues such as New York’s Carnegie Hall, The Royal Albert Hall, London and the Sydney Opera House in addition to presenting several television series in Ireland, including Nice and Easy and Shine On as well as appearing on renowned Irish programme The Late Late Show.
Last summer, Shine rose to the top spot once more with another no 1 single in Ireland called (The first time that he said} Granddad. The single also got a lot of air play in the U K and was so well received that Brendan released an album of family songs including ‘Thank God for Kids,’ ‘Pal Of My Credle Day’s, ‘A Mothers Love’ and ‘A Blessing,’ all of which will appear in Brendan’s concert when he appears at the St Helens Theatre Royal this May.
Brendan said ‘I’m looking forward to coming to St Helens as part of my UK and Ireland tour. I haven’t been before but I’ve heard great things about the town and the region. It’ll be grand to see all of my fans and to perform for them.
