The Tax Brand New Single ‘Motorway’ released 21/01/1

Fresh. Talented. Hardworking. Just a few words that have been used to describe North London band The Tax.  With a vast repertoire of songs that dip into Indie, Rock, Synth and Pop, it’s safe to say this band have something for everyone. Since forming in 2011, the 5 piece have shown their commitment and dedication to creating a name for themselves and have recently started to reap the rewards.

2011/12 seen the band win the ‘FameGames and Meer Music Band of the Year’ judged by Tony Cowell, Jim Chancellor and Tony Iommi, feature on BBC Introducing with Adam Woolton and also tour the UK playing many great venues in major cities including the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool. Self-releasing a well received E.P. and being signed up on a singles deal to Glasgow Indie Label, BYmonster Records, were some other highlights of the year.

Their previously released 5 track EP ‘Somebody is Watching You’ is crammed with summer anthems, epic ballads and some good old-fashioned pop tunes with emotive Smiths/Dylanesque lyrics and soaring Robert Plant style vocals that have power and substance.

The first single to be released through the label is a cracker of a tune called ‘Motorway’ which highlights the band’s superb songwriting abilities and musicianship. The track, described by reviewers as “striking” and “thoroughly impressive”, shows that Hill’s searching vocals along with Watts’ clever guitar riffs are the perfect match for Randazzo’s thundering drumbeats & Zee’s pounding basslines with Jennings’ keyboard cutting through just at the right moment. Although they focus on creating tracks that are modern and edgy, many great classic songwriters and artists have had an influence on the band and this shines through in their music.

With the standard of songwriting already something to shout about, the quality of the sound recordings has been helped along by some big names in the industry. The band have been working with top producer Tim Hamill (The Manic Street Preachers, Duffy) at the Sonic1 studios in Wales with their tracks being mastered at Abbey road by legendary producer Sean Magee (Pink Floyd, Queen, Rolling Stones).

A small tour of Europe, gigging North of the border and a full length album in the pipeline show that the band is aiming for big things in 2013 are forging ahead in their quest to bring their music to the masses 2013 so keep your eyes peeled and ears to the ground!
