Benin City release New Video and Free Download for My Love

My Love premiered on Amazing Radio yesterday and This Is Fake DIY - Neu have said of the single "Josh Idehen is the "one that rhymes" in Benin City. But this isn't rhyming. It's storytelling, a narrative buried in beats.  How Benin City have got so far without going stratospheric is beyond us. Although a debut album - 'Fires In the Park' - out on June 24th ought to do the trick. Ghostpoet fans will be the first to fall for 'My Love', but any cynic refusing to turn their sorry head will soon come round."

You can listen to 'My Love' via Soundcloud , with remixes from Spoek Mathambo’s Nicolaas Van Reenen, Dan le Sac and Paper Tiger also available to stream - The song and its remixes can be offered for free download to your readers here:

'My Love' follows on from the success of the London based outfit's first two singles which featured heavily across BBC Radio 2, Xfm, and BBC 6 Music via DJs such as John Kennedy, Tom Robinson, Huey Morgan, Mark Lamarr and Craig Charles. After a successful 2012 that included a six date support tour of Dan Le Sac (Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip) Benin City are back with a new single, 'My Love', that bears the trademark of their distinctive blend of post-dubstep, electro, and brass.

Debut album Fires In The Park is preceded by the immersive song: a synth addled marching beat anthem produced by pop experimentalist Marc Pell (Micachu and the Shapes), with an unforgettable brass melody that unravels and soars, repetitive rhythms cascading over each other, and an emotive Super 8-esque video directed by wunderkid video artist Charlie Behrens (featured on It's Nice That)

The video is a reflection of the positive-negative relationship in the song. The visual is constantly playing with perspectives by using digital footage treated with Super 8 after effects and hundreds of singular photos taken and linked together.

Benin City's sound is an amalgamation of Theo's versatile Brit School background with Tom's training via The Royal Academy of Music and Josh's love of electronica and talent for candid spoken word. It was their combined love of all things off centre that led to the creation of a completely unique sound they define as electro-brass.
