Canadian Alt-Rockers Your Favorite Enemies to release debut single
Canadian sextet Your Favorite Enemies will be releasing the first UK single, ‘I Just Want You To Know’ on 4th November via their own Hopeful Tragedy Records.
The band are vocalist Alex Foster, Jeff Beaulieu (guitar), Sef (guitar), Ben Lemelin (bass), Miss Isabel (vocals and keyboard) and Charles “Moose” Allicy (drums). They are fierce human rights advocates (RED/Rock N’Rights) who remain dedicated to their old school DIY ethos, now on a worldwide scale, on which they established the foundations of the band. This includes starting their own label Hopeful Tragedy Records and turning an artsy Catholic Church into their own recording studio where they record all of their own material, including their debut EP ‘Youthful Dreams of an Old Empire.’
Touring the world they have played shows across Europe, Japan, China, Indonesia, Canada and will be touring shortly across Australia. As a live band they deliver blistering shows that collide huge anthemic guitars that career alongside the whiplashing bass as it bounds off relentless in all directions. Reining things in the contagious keyboard provides them with a twisted hooks that gives the whole experience a sweat soaked sense of euphoria managing to combine the meaty thump of Queens of the Stone Age, the surging power of Drive Like Jehu and the ability to marry aggression and distorted melody in the vein of Fugazi.
Stadium sized songs, a punk rock aesthetic, forward thinking attitude and a lyricalability to fuse Nick Cave’s poeticism entwined with deep messages akin to Manic Street Preachers and R.E.M. make Your Favourite Enemies a unique and formidable prospect.
Live
22 October – The Old Blue Last, London
