Two months after surprising fans around the world with their acclaimed recording of Arcade Fire’s “Ready to Start,” Tears For Fears has debuted a new cover of Hot Chip’s “And I Was A Boy From School.” The song is available now for free streaming on Tears For Fears’ website, www.tearsforfears.com via Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/tearsforfearsmusic/boy-from-school

Tears For Fears’ Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal approached the recordings as a way to show "some reciprocal cross-generational love" for the artists and bands who have been inspired by, and recorded covers of, Tears for Fears songs.  Hot Chip’s “And I Was A Boy From School” struck a personal chord with Smith and Orzabal, who first met at school.

The new covers, precursors to a new album to come from the influential band next year, mark the 30th anniversary of Tears For Fears’ debut album, 1983’s The Hurting.  Fans and critics alike have enthusiastically welcomed the band’s first new studio releases since 2004’s Everybody Loves a Happy Ending.

"The idea was before we actually had any material, before we got together, that we might try and do a couple of cover versions to sort of kick-start the recording process again," Orzabal told Rolling Stone in a recent interview.

Upon its August 22 debut, Rolling Stone praised Tears For Fears’ take on Arcade Fire’s “Ready to Start,” saying: “Roland Orzabal's vocals spill slowly over production that starts with relatively simple synths and strings before building to a burst of a jittery jungle percussion that perfectly captures the cloistered urgency of the original.”

Tears For Fears’ influential synth-pop debut, The Hurting, has been digitally remastered for a 30th anniversary deluxe edition, released October 21 (October 22 in North America). The acclaimed album has been expanded with live sessions, B-sides and remixes for new 3CD/DVD boxed set, 2CD, and digital packages.

With a career that has spanned three decades, Tears For Fears stands out as one of the most successful singer, songwriter and producer duos of the modern era.
