Aristofreeks featuring Kathy Sledge release We are Family Remixes
Turn the clock back to 1979 and you could not go anywhere without hearing the music of Philadelphia's SISTER SLEDGE. In that year the group dropped their multi-platinum album “We Are Family” which contained the two chart topping hits “He's The Greatest Dancer” and “We Are Family” both of which hit #1 on the RandB charts and top 10 overall in the United States.
Fast forward to 2013 and we find the founding member of the group KATHY SLEDGE teaming up with Ibiza dance music artists ARISTOFREEKS (Max Matire and Lenny Ibizarre) to release their own version of the 1979 mega-hit “We Are Family” via Pacific Electronic Music. PEM is a Los Angeles and Ibiza based record label formed by the Aristofreeks and former Atlantic Records President Jerry Greenburg who was an instrumental part of Sister Sledge's success in the late 70s and early 80s signing them onto their record deal as well as signing superstar artists of the calibre of Chic, Abba and Genesis and working with Led Zeppelin and Michael Jackson.
Teaming up with two of Ibiza's best known DJ/Producers Max Matire (Space and Amnesia Ibiza/Warner Music) along with his friend co-producer and musician Lenny Ibizarre (Amnesia/Cafe Del Mar Ibiza/Warner Music) the ARISTOFREEKS are proudly releasing her classic track “We Are Family” with specially re-recorded vocals and an electronic vibe bringing it firmly up to date. .
Together these two industry veterans have been around since 1988 and are the perfect duo to team up with Kathy Sledge for this new release. Max and Lenny have brought a special disco house tone to the track, making it the perfect infectious clubfloor smash for Djs to add to their play-lists.
The ARISTOFREEKS have taken Kathy's hit “We Are Family” and remixed them into 5 tracks that are nothing short of amazing and truly bring back all those memories for older fans and will surely become a staple of newer fans alike on and off the club dancefloors. Kathy and The Aristofreeks recently had the honor of performing a live showcase at the 16th Annual DJ Awards in Ibiza this past September to a packed crowd of fans. Kathy was honoured with the prestigious “Outstanding Contribution Award” for her work in and out of the music industry over the years.
Kathy has never been so relevant as she is right now. With the emergence of an even bigger global electronic music scene Kathy along with the Aristofreeks are set to take the world by storm with not only the “We Are Family” remixes, but her upcoming track “Thank You” along with more new tracks with some special surprise guest contributions.
