Undercover Festival 2014 announce Sunday Line up

The Dualers are Britain’s much loved Ska and Reggae band from the South of England who have steadily built up a following of many thousands of truly dedicated fans across all ages and have sold out at the Indigo O2 a record breaking 4 times within 18 months.

In October 2004 The Dualers launched themselves, unannounced, into the UK Singles Chart, landing at an impressive number 21 with self-penned song, Kiss on the Lips. As an unknown act, they became the first street performers ever to achieve a chart position, selling more records that week than some internationally well-known artists. With no backing or publicity, the key to this success was The Dualers’ ever-growing, increasingly dedicated fan-base.

Growing up in South London with parents Bill and Jackie Cranstoun, Tyber’s musical taste was heavily influenced by the music played at home. Playing at several locations in and around London in the sixties with his Savoy Sound System, Bill helped to introduce ska music to the capital.

The third chart single in 2006 “Don’t Go” was followed by release of their debut album ‘The Melting Pot’ and helped establish The Dualers as one of the most respected names on the UK Ska and Reggae scene. Q Magazine said “The Dualers soulful harmonising has admirable echoes of Bob Marley and Sam Cooke” and The Independent wrote “These local superstars are inching towards fame”. The second album ‘The Cooking Pot’ also sold out its first pressing within a month.

Along with the Dualers we are pleased to announce a cracking Sunday line up including

The Glitter Band  - The Glitter Band were the musicians who backed Gary Glitter on his hit records under the direction of the late great Mike Leander, and then went on to have a string of international Top 10 hits in their own right, including Angel Face, Goodbye My Love and Let's Get Together Again.

After many years living under the cloud of Gary Glitter's spectacular fall from grace, The Glitter Band are striking out and taking back the songs they performed on and that were the soundtrack to an entire generation.

Those songs will NOT be allowed to disappear into the mists of time because of the actions of one selfish individual. SHOUT IT LOUD AND SHOUT IT PROUD, HEYYYY! Back at Undercover by popular demand after a very successful show at Undercover 2013, The Glitter Band had a string of international Top 10 hits in their own right, including Angel Face, Goodbye My Love and Let's Get Together Again.

The Glitter Band are striking out and taking back the songs they performed on and that were the soundtrack to an entire generation.

In the words of the band “Those songs will NOT be allowed to disappear into the mists of time because of the actions of one selfish individual. SHOUT IT LOUD AND SHOUT IT PROUD, HEYYYY!”.

The current Glitter Band line up of Pete Phipps, John Springate, Eddy Spence, Dominic Rodgers, Marc Pearson have been striking out with an unashamed, accurate and powerful ‘Glitter’ presentation, reminding us of the value that the songs have for us and that the Glitter Band stand out as probably the most creative and talented of the bands from the Glam rock era. With more live shows coming your way …..”Rock On!”

XSLF – (X Stiff Little Fingers) Reuniting Henry Cluney with Jim Reilly after 30 or more years. They played on all the classic Stiff Little Fingers albums, the ones people really want to hear. This is the Belfast band — presenting an evening of all the favourites plus a few surprises. Henry says, “I was in numerous versions of the band, but all were a pale shadow of the real thing.” This is as close to the real thing since 1981! And on bass is Petesy Burns...another Burns! He is known for his work with the Outcasts and appeared in the movie Good Vibrations as Pugwash.

Fingers fans the cards are split evenly, Henry and Jim have XSLF so this band is as much SLF as the SLF, And those that have seen XSLF recently have witnessed and enjoyed XSLF knocking out a set of material from the first 2 albums and just touching on Go for it. many tracks SLF abandoned long ago.

Don’t miss XSLF — the nearest thing to Stiff Little Fingers around!

Goldblade – a band who many believed stole the show at GuilFest 2012 when they played a storming set to a packed VLR stage; Still fighting the punk rock war, GOLDBLADE were formed in 1996 by ex-Membranes front man John Robb. Goldblade have taken their firebrand rock n roll all over the world in a series of gigs and tours and festival appearances that have cemented their reputation as one of the great live bands.

Their gigs are legendary adrenalised high energy affairs that have had an instant reaction all over the world. Eschewing their real names they were a brotherhood and only known by their first name and Brother- like a high octane gang of shoalin monks playing chaotic and dangerous rock n roll they took from the past and created a new future and were relentlessly copied by many bands.

Open Sore – original (Slough) punksters and a rare commodity a band from “The Roxy” that are still going today.. Ask anyone who has heard the Farewell To The Roxy album or even the bands themselves who played on it who's was the best song and its odds on that Open Sore's Vertigo will be the song they all say. Open Sore during the course of 1977 and 1978 played a total of 8 shows at the now legendary Roxy... “The outrageous fashion and music of the punk rock cult has finally come to Slough”. Slough Observer article on Open Sore 2.12.77

s at the Roxy, playing alongside bands such as UK Subs, Blitz, The Pigs, Leyton Buzzards, The Moors Murderer's (Chrissie Hinde, Steve Strange, Rusty Egan, Tex, Topper Headon) etc.

One Roots – Tipped to be a break through act for 2014 This Brighton based Reggae / Ska collective are guaranteed to get the feet tapping and the heart pumping - One Roots play a potent mix of tight rocking Reggae, horizontally laid-back sunshine ballads, skunked-up dub and speedy, skanking Ska tunes. The combination of powerful lead vocals and luscious harmonies is enough to melt an ice cream in the Arctic, pre-global warming! A righteous riddim section combines with grooveridden, skank guitars against a backdrop of power horns and piercing, funky keys.
