Mali's Tamikrest to play The Kazimier Liverpool

We have the great pleasure of announcing the Liverpool debut of Mali's Tamikrest, recent winner of 'Best Group of the Year 2014' at the influential Songlines Music Awards and hailed by critics as ‘desert blues for fans of Can and Pink Floys to sink their teeth in to’

Touring in support of their most recent album ‘Chatma’, released to universal acclaim in October 2013, Mojo lauded the LP ‘With trance-inducing drones, Nashville-evoking steel guitars and space-rock solos, this is the desert-blues album for fans of Can and Pink Floyd to sink their teeth into.’

Initially inspired by the traditional music of the players’ Tuareg background along with the songs of Tinariwen (who themselves have gone to international success) Tamikrest suffuse these sounds with the influences of Jimi Hendrix, Mark Knofler and Bob Marley.

Comprising chanted vocals, cyclical rhythms and breathtakingly fluid guitar playing, the group have located a dazzling intersection between psychedelia, hypnotic dub and heat-hazed desert garage rock.

Strongly recommended to attendees of Africa Oye and Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia alike, Tamikrest’s show is set to be one of the most memorable of the Autumn/Winter gig season.
