Natalie McCool reveals Pins as the new track from new EP

Natalie McCool, one of the most well respected singer-songwriters to emerge recently will surely build upon the momentum that previous singles ‘Wind Blows Harder’ and ‘Dig It Out’ cultivated. Both Young and Lost Club releases, the tracks garnered praise from the likes of The Line of Best Fit (song of the day), Clash, NME, Nylon, Pigeons and Planes, Indie Shuffle and The Sunday Times (track of the week). A THUMPERS rework of ‘Wind Blows Harder’ also scooped song of the day at Best Fit.

McCool boasts the very finest musical background, graduating from the highly prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) with top honours. A burgeoning alumni career has seen McCool perform at Hyde Park to an audience of 120,000, with a live four-track EP from London’s Abbey Road Studios also under her belt. Fans of McCool’s work include Sir Paul McCartney, Bernard Butler (Suede), Steve Lamacq and Mojo founder Paul Du Noyer.

A young disciple of her influences Johnny Marr and Elizabeth Fraser, McCool’s signature sound is her ice-pure voice layered over chorusdrenched guitar – both shimmer amongst sounds that are natural yet fashioned to bespoke perfection. She taps on the doors of listener’s hearts with a hush of absolute conviction and beguiles the ear to long for more.

Where ‘Wind Blows Harder’ drew together a dense fabric of influences including Jeff Buckley, Cocteau Twins and Stone Roses, ‘Dig It Out’ saw McCool turn towards a more contemporary mindset.

After an autumn which saw McCool perform on stage with Boy George and Bernard Butler at Liverpool’s International Festival, the lead up to new year saw her venture back in the studio with David Berger from the band Outfit and emerge with an upcoming EP that takes her work a step further.

‘PINS’ is the first track to be revealed from the EP with the announcement that she’ll be performing on April 16th at The Islington, London (Free entry).

Natalie McCool Reveals Video for Dig It Out

Natalie McCool, one of the most well respected singer-songwriters to emerge recently, has announced the upcoming release of her second single this year. ‘Dig It Out’ will surely build upon the plaudits and momentum that previous single ‘Wind Blows Harder’ cultivated, which garnered praise from the likes of The Line of Best Fit, Clash, NME, Nylon, Pigeons and Planes, The Sunday Times and Indie Shuffle.

McCool boasts the very finest musical background, graduating from the highly prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) with top honours. She taps on the doors of listener’s hearts with a hush of absolute conviction and beguiles the ear to long for more. Everything about Natalie McCool is original and bona fide – with each second of ‘Dig It Out’ oozing real and authentic emotion.

Where her previous single drew together a dense fabric of influences including Jeff Buckley, Cocteau Twins and Stone Roses, ‘Dig It Out’ sees McCool turn towards a more contemporary mindset. As delicate as a rose and as utterly conspicuous, ‘Dig It Out’ sits in a glorious hinterland between isolated frost and simmering heat. The track has a laid-back feel with highly exposed production, it jumps and spirals with complete freedom and seclusion whilst McCool’s breathy voice brilliantly hems the listener in, keeping them involved and interested. Topped with David Berger’s (Outfit) fantastic production work, which sees instrument and voice meld into one during the canny chorus, ‘Dig It Out’ is the perfect continuation of Natalie McCool’s excellent catalogue of pop brilliance.

McCool is currently on tour.

Natalie McCool Releases Video for New Single Wind Blows Harder

One of the most promising songwriters in the UK, Natalie McCool, is set to release her latest single ‘Wind Blows Harder’ this June via Young and Lost Club. Produced by David Berger (of Guardian and Pitchfork-acclaimed band ‘Outfit’), ‘Wind Blows Harder’ demonstrates the fast growing pace developing in McCool’s powerful artistry.

Awarded ‘Female Artist of the Year’ at the the Liverpool Music Awards 2013, Natalie McCool boasts the very finest musical background, having graduated with top honours from the highly prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). McCool is lauded by every single music luminary that crosses her path, including recent acclaim from Steve Lamacq, Dermot O’Leary and the founding editor of Mojo, Paul Du Noyer – who described her live performance as “spectral”. A burgeoning career so far has seen McCool perform at Hyde Park to an audience of 120,000, with a live four-track EP from London’s Abbey Road Studios also under her belt.

Describing herself as the lovechild of Johnny Marr and Elizabeth Fraser, at the heart of McCool’s signature sound is an ice-pure voice surrounded by a constellation of warm guitar, panoramic in its breadth. She taps on the door with delicate fingerstyle beginnings only to then wonderfully smash it down with Johnny Marr-esque riffing. Combining raw-to-the-touch lyrics with perfectly formed pop hooks, McCool sets herself at a lofty height from her peers by mesmerising the listener with the absolute and complete conviction in her performance.

McCool spent her childhood years drawing together a fine fabric of influences including Jeff Buckley, Cocteau Twins, PJ Harvey and The Stone Roses. These influences shine through on the brilliant ‘Wind Blows Harder’, described by The Line of Best Fit as a fist-pumping “indie-pop anthem”. Bathed in chorus-drenched reverb, ‘Wind Blows Harder’ beautifully haunts the listener by taking delight in its own freedom, coy boastfulness and a guitar sound as wide as the wind.

Natalie McCool ‘Wind Blows Harder’ single launch 11th June at Birthdays, London. FREE ENTRY w/ support from Leisure, YURS, Maybug and DJ sets from Francobollo and Young and Lost DJs.
