Snub 2 presents - Always The Quiet Ones single launch

Always The Quiet Ones

Snub 2 presents - Always The Quiet Ones single launch

Liverpool’s twisted upstarts ALWAYS THE QUIET ONES are set to release their brand new double A side single “DROUGHT | GHOST IN THE FILAMENT” on Friday 27th April, at Liverpool’s best kept secret, BINARY CELL.

Born in the later part of 2010, the enterprising quintet began a series of frenetic live shows by opening for Deaf Havana and before long were supporting the likes of The Safety Fire, Mojo Fury, The James Cleaver Quintet, Axis Of and many more, quickly garnering strong praise and notoriety from fans and many sectors of the underground press for their unique brand of off-kilter alt-rock.

The past six months has seen Always The Quiet Ones receive extensive airplay on Kerrang! Radio (Alex Baker), XFM (Ian Camfield), Q Radio (Pete Bailey), Total Rock and coverage in the likes of Kerrang! (Katie Parsons), Big Cheese Magazine and Powerplay. Debut single/video Freak Show entered at no. 12 on PS3 Vidzone’s “Rockzone” chart and later featured on the “Ones To Watch 2012” playlist.

Hosted by SNUB, the launch boasts a support roster of local heavyweights.
JazzHands - a 5 piece noize-rock-jazz band comprising of 3 drum kits, bass guitar and saxophone.
We Were Beautiful - who draw influence from every corner of the music industry and have already supported the likes of Deaf Havana and Lower Than Atlantis.
Battleships - big riffs and very impressive tunes. Fresh, exciting, noisy. Ones to watch

14+, £3 entry.

Preview of the Snub festival 2 at the Lomax Liverpool

Preview of the Snub festival 2 at the Lomax Liverpool

In the current climate of pay to play, pay to apply and voting systems for gig slots, we, in conjunction with WIRELESS MAGAZINE (https://www.facebook.com/wirelessmagazine?sk=wall), will be providing a non-judgemental outlet for local talent!

Let’s stop the fighting amongst the bands. Let’s unite and bring camaraderie to the arts scene instead of bands fighting amongst ...themselves for a mediocre slot not even their mothers can be bothered to get out of bed for. And let’s face it, if you wanted to take part in a voting system, you’d have auditioned for X-Factor.

With the sad closure of The Masque and The CUC, plus live music events ceasing at Mojo, Liverpool's music scene has been rocked . We want to champion local artists and give fans value for money.
We have the first Thursday, Friday and Saturday of every month booked at the mighty Lomax and will be charging no more than £3 entry.

We launch Thursday 2nd Feb kicking off with Metal Snub. The Day Will Come, Hollow Dreams, Scare Tactics and Hope Against Hope will be each bringing something a little bit different. Mixes of old school, tech, post hardcore and modern metal will all be on show. Oceanis take the role of headliners, but I don't think any of the bands playing would look out of place topping the bill.

Friday 3rd Feb will see our Indie/Alt Snub show commence. The Temps, White Heat, The Fall Of Kings, Kush and Deltasonic's Sonic Faith are bands that are hard to pigeon hole but impossible to ignore. I think they all incorporate epic rock, indie and pop perfectly.

And finally comes our Rock Snub, Sunday 5th Feb. Local hero’s Guardians (formally Hippys on the hill) will be bringing their fiery brand of high voltage rock, whilst headliners Always The Quiet Ones always ensure a frenetic live show. We Were Beautiful draw influence from every corner of the music industry and have already supported the likes of Deaf Havana and Lower Than Atlantis, whilst The Blackhand, having recently released their debut album 'Greetings, From The Bitter Sweet Edge' shouldn't be missed. The last band joining are Arkadiance, bringing their impressive, progressive rock.

Snub Fest at the Masque Theatre Liverpool

Baines Backs Snub Fest

Everton star Leighton Baines is combining his new community ambassador role with his love of music to support a local fundraising event.

The Blues defender was recently named as Everton in the Community’s Ambassador for Giving and has decided to kick-off this role by supporting the ‘Snub Fest’ music event, which aims to raise the profile of unsigned bands in Liverpool – as well as money for two charities.

This special event, which is being staged at The Masque in Liverpool on Sunday 22 May, will feature a host of unsigned musicians from across the region all performing to raise much needed funds for CALM, a men’s mental health charity and the Forum Housing Association, which supports homeless young people in Merseyside.

Leighton has recently started a very successful music blog on evertonfc.com, and event organisers were keen for him to lend a hand and recommend some of his favourite local bands in an effort to raise the profile of the event.

Leighton said: “Music is my biggest passion outside football. I listen to lots of different things from The Beatles through to the present day. The more recent stuff I listen to tends to be in the style of Alex Turner, the Arctic Monkeys and Beady Eye.

“I was really honoured to be asked to recommend some bands and help promote this event.  Two up and coming bands from the area I’ve been keeping an eye on are Dirty Waters, who have not been signed yet, and Dustland, who are generating a lot of talk around the city right now.

“Snub Fest sounds like a really good event which should raise lots of money for CALM – a charity I know Everton in the Community deal with through the Premier League Men’s Health programme, and the Forum Housing Association. I hope the event is really successful.”
Simon Howes, Development Coordinator for CALM on Merseyside said: “We are really excited to have Leighton on board and supporting both Snub fest and CALM. The money raised during Snub will allow us to keep the phone lines open, keep the website fresh and be on hand for when a bloke is ready to get something off his chest and sort his head out.”
Leighton and five of his teammates have been appointed as ambassadors for six key areas of work for the Blues’ official charity, Everton in the Community. The Liverpool-born defender is heading up ‘Everton Giving’, the arm of the charity which helps other good causes in the city.

The Snub Fest at The Masque 22/5/11

The Snub Fest
Freedom for music.
Where unsigned bands matter.
Freedom for the arts.
Where community matters.

22nd May 2011: The Snub Fest at The Masque.

In the current climate of pay to play, pay to apply and voting systems for gig slots, The Masque is providing a non-judgemental outlet for local talent! For many bands to even stand a chance of making a festival appearance at a ticket price that even their mates can’t afford, it’s hard to get opportunities in a city awash with a wealth of talent.

We believe if bands want to play a local festival, then they should have the chance to do so without getting their granny’s in Tipperary to make premium rate phone calls, or creating Facebook accounts for their 3 year old sisters to vote from.

Let’s stop the fighting amongst the bands. Let’s unite and bring camaraderie to the arts scene instead of bands fighting amongst themselves for a mediocre slot not even their mothers can be bothered to get out of bed for. And let’s face it, if you wanted to take part in a voting system, you’d have auditioned for X-Factor.

We want to show the world how talented and diverse Liverpool is musically. We want to showcase some of the best Indie, Pop, Pop-Punk, Rock, Emo, Rap and Metal acts in Merseyside. No tricks, no gimmicks, just great music.

We also want to keep the cost as LOW as possible. We will only be asking for a £1 donation, and half of our door take will be split between our official charity partners: C.A.L.M. (Campaign Against Living Miserably) and Forum Housing Association (raising funds to support homeless young people on Merseyside).

Bands will be selling merchandise on the day, so if you like a band, buy a cd or a t-shirt. We love happy, smiling band members!

We’ve had a great response so far and have a few amazing bands on board, but we couldn't possibly announce any just yet ... we want to get your juices flowing!

Over the coming weeks we will be announcing line up and stage times as well as new festival partners and arts installations on our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/themasqueliverpool) and our website (www.masque-liverpool.com), so please keep your eyes peeled.
