The Snub Fest at The Masque 22/5/11

The Snub Fest
Freedom for music.
Where unsigned bands matter.
Freedom for the arts.
Where community matters.

22nd May 2011: The Snub Fest at The Masque.

In the current climate of pay to play, pay to apply and voting systems for gig slots, The Masque is providing a non-judgemental outlet for local talent! For many bands to even stand a chance of making a festival appearance at a ticket price that even their mates can’t afford, it’s hard to get opportunities in a city awash with a wealth of talent.

We believe if bands want to play a local festival, then they should have the chance to do so without getting their granny’s in Tipperary to make premium rate phone calls, or creating Facebook accounts for their 3 year old sisters to vote from.

Let’s stop the fighting amongst the bands. Let’s unite and bring camaraderie to the arts scene instead of bands fighting amongst themselves for a mediocre slot not even their mothers can be bothered to get out of bed for. And let’s face it, if you wanted to take part in a voting system, you’d have auditioned for X-Factor.

We want to show the world how talented and diverse Liverpool is musically. We want to showcase some of the best Indie, Pop, Pop-Punk, Rock, Emo, Rap and Metal acts in Merseyside. No tricks, no gimmicks, just great music.

We also want to keep the cost as LOW as possible. We will only be asking for a £1 donation, and half of our door take will be split between our official charity partners: C.A.L.M. (Campaign Against Living Miserably) and Forum Housing Association (raising funds to support homeless young people on Merseyside).

Bands will be selling merchandise on the day, so if you like a band, buy a cd or a t-shirt. We love happy, smiling band members!

We’ve had a great response so far and have a few amazing bands on board, but we couldn't possibly announce any just yet ... we want to get your juices flowing!

Over the coming weeks we will be announcing line up and stage times as well as new festival partners and arts installations on our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/themasqueliverpool) and our website (www.masque-liverpool.com), so please keep your eyes peeled.

If you'd like any more information, please email info@masque-liverpool.com
