The Hics release Debut Single 'Cold Air'
The Hics are a diverse six-piece from South London, fronted by co-vocalists Sam Evans (18) and Roxane Barker (21).
It all starts with the beats: The Hics were founded by the band’s two drummers at school in 2012, and are now a six-strong, self-contained collective (who write and produce everything alone).
Their warm and subtle fusion of sounds is already turning heads: the group were runners-up for Best Breakthrough Act at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards, for instance, without even releasing a single. A debut EP, beginning with ‘Cold Air’, kickstarts The Hics' breakout year, with its yearning vocals and ethereal production earning early comparisons to The Invisible, James Blake and Portishead. The Hics play their first show of 2013 at Gold Dust, Hoxton Bar and Kitchen, on March 20.
