The Rutles announce 2014 World Tour (UK Leg)
It is hereby agreed that, in as much as two (2) of the “ARTISTES” heretofore and informally known as “The Rutles”, “The Pre-Fab Four” (4), or “Dirk, Nasty, Stig and Barry”, shall be appearing live and in person as “THEMSELVES” (namely Neil and John) and whilst they are appearing as “THEMSELVES” they do so solemnly and without prejudice hereby undertake to use their best endeavours NOT to make frivolous use of any former silly name, no matter whomsoever, whatsoever, whenever, for ever and ever. However, and nevertheless, they reserve the same human rights as any honest “TICKET HOLDER” to be free, and at liberty, to make use of any of the aforesaid names as they see fit – in so far as, and provided that, any such said “TICKET HOLDER”, or person of wisdom and taste, is deemed to be at all times within the boundaries of the Public Domain or any other such place, area or location as defined by the Real World.
“So – let’s get real. The “Rutles” are not real – they exist in name only. Lunch is over. The name belongs to Broadway Video – along with all the other silly names – even though Eric Idle thought them all up.”

But then there’s the Music. The Rutle songs were originally played and sung by Neil Innes, John Halsey, Ricky Fataar and Peter John “Ollie” Halsall. Ollie died in 1992. Ricky lives in San Francisco and plays drums with Bonnie Rait. Eric Idle was never involved in the music.
The “Small Print” can only be seen with the Mind’s Eye. “The Rutles” are from another Universe AND Chorus. So get real. Songs are supposed to be sung. Come and sing along – as YOU yourself – or whomsoever you like - and share the fun!
