First Non-US Jack White Show Announced For Open'er 2014
A one-man institution on the global music scene and truly a performer, songwriter and producer who has never steered his audience wrong. Having recorded a Bond theme and founded his Third Man Records label hosting a variety of artists from Beck to Tom Jones and Conan O’Brien, Jack White is the next Open’er Festival 2014 headliner!
Having originally started his musical journey playing the drums Jack White became one of the most remarkable guitarists of his generation, complimented by the greatest guitar virtuosos. Having formed The White Stripes in 1997, the duo featuring Jack and his then wife Meg created some of the most influential rock albums ever.
The White Stripes went on hiatus in 2011, yet White has kept busy with myriad other projects including his two other bands; classic rock quartet The Raconteurs and hard-rock supergroup The Dead Weather, featuring Alison Mosshart of The Kills, QOTSA's Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs. Ever the prolific musician it was only a matter of time before another solo release.
"Blunderbuss" was released nearly two years ago on XL Recordings and quickly flew up the charts. White's work as a solo artist confirmed his great talent and sealed his status as the modern godfather of America’s alternative rock scene. Over the years, he wouldn't leave the studio, both as a leader of his own projects and a renowned producer. His dossier includes albums by Loretta Lynn and Wanda Jackson as well as via his label becoming an ambassador for Record Store Day.
Now, White opens a new chapter. Little is known so far about "Lazaretto", announced less than 24 hours ago, but we can already expect a successful return, backed up with a short tour. Polish fans are one of the few lucky ones to be a part of it. Open’er is proud to be the first European festival to announce Jack White performing this year.
