Gianna Lauren is set to release her EP On Personhood
Originally haling from Ontario in Canada, Gianna Lauren is set to release her EP ‘On Personhood’ via Forward Music Group on 5th May 2014. For a limited time only, the lead single ‘Anchor Down’ will be available as a free download via her SoundCloud http://bit.ly/1gbuNiM
The single ‘Anchor Down’ is crafted indie rock, peppered with atmospheric percussion and serene guitars. Stylishly quirky Lauren makes dreamy songs, which nod gently to the likes of Anna Calvi, Suzanne Vega and Edie Brickell.
Inspired by artists such as PJ Harvey, Laura Veirs, Nina Simone and Carole King, Lauren grew up on everything from classical to classic rock while studying jazz and training in opera.
‘Anchor Down’ questions the idea of settling down. Lauren says, “The lyric ‘what have you been saying, I wasn't listening’ is a reference to a conversation I was having with my old-school Italian Nana about settling down. Turns out we have different ideas of what that looks like.”
