BoomTown Fair 2015 Major Headliners Release

BoomTown Fair 2015 Headliners

BoomTown Fair 2015 Major Headliners Release

BoomTown Fair has released the first wave of headliners for Chapter Seven of the massively genre expansive festival. Taking place over 13th – 16th August in the Matterley Estate near Winchester BoomTown once again will house heavyweight names from reggae to ska punk; psy-trance to world music, putting underground genres in the spotlight at one of the most creatively and musically ambitious festivals on the circuit. With 22 Main Stages situated over eight very individual districts the music programming is as diverse as it would be within any large city, providing something for all tastes, ages and cultures!

The Town Centre, known for hosting some of the most raucous, party inducing acts this year will host:  LA’s anarchic Celtic punk folksters Floggying Molly, bringing their internationally celebrated break-speed anthems to Winchester for a rare and exclusive UK festival performance. The return of the hedonistic gypsy punk of Gogol Bordello, headlining the festival in 2011 they totally blew the Town Centre apart with their rip-roaring, frantic show that whipped the crowd into a palpable frenzy, this year with a new album recently released and the BoomTown citizens more than quadrupled in numbers since the bands last visit to the town, one mega party is expected to kick off! Keeping the knees in the air and the skanking skills up to max is the American ska punk of Streetlight Manifesto. One of the most requested ska acts by BoomTown citizens over the years, Streetlight will be bringing their life affirming vibes and outstanding energy in a very overdue first visit to the fair!! Another returning to the Town Centre are ultra-slick Parisian outfit Caravan Palace. After storming the place with one of the most memorable shows, these premiers of electro-swing and gypsy-funk are guaranteed to host one almighty spectacle, worthy of their fierce reputation as an ultimate live act!

Matisyahu, once known for being the Hasidic man of reggae, over the past few years has moved to a more secular style and will be bringing his highly polished reggae tinged hip-hop and soul to the Lion’s Den for a UK festival exclusive. Another festival headliner that can’t seem to stay away from the fair is Alborosie and Shengan Clan, this MOBO award winning artist will be on hand with his thumping basslines and talent that speaks for itself! Joining Matisyahu and Alborosie on the Lion’s Den are reggae legends Black Uhuru, the first ever winners of the Best Reggae album at the 1985 Grammy’s their music has provided a soundtrack to generation with tunes like ‘What is Life’, ‘Shine Eye Girl’ and ‘Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner’ dominating any dancefloor when they drops! Heading over to the southern hemisphere for a taste of New Zealand roots reggae, Katchafire will be bringing their gloriously chilled out sunshine vibes for even more global flavours in the Lion’s Den.

Whilst over on the Old Mines folk and world stage are Katchafire’s Antipodean brethren, the awe inspiring John Butler Trio, with guitar skills so incredible the only other sound that can be heard when they are playing is that of jaws dropping to the floor!! These Aussie guitar heroes are a powerhouse of fusing folk, acoustic and roots and are the perfect tonic to a busy festival day! After welcoming the stunning desert sounds of Mali last year with Tinariwen, BoomTown will be making a return voyage to the country for more musical mastery with Amadou and Mariam, fusing Afro pop with desert blues this Grammy nominated husband and wife duo have been performing together for more than 30 years and are the biggest-selling African act of recent times; along with fellow Mali musician’s Songhoy Blues, who were recently pegged as Mail’s next big thing, no small feat considering the company they keep! Other acts on the Old Mines include festival stalwarts Dreadzone with their mashup of dub, reggae, techno, folk and rock, ultimate fusion outfit Transglobal Underground, acclaimed folk roots of Edward II and Scotland’s finest instrumental fusion folk band Peatbog Faeries, full line up for Old Mines will be revealed in a few weeks.

The brand new Psychedelic Forest secret headliner has also now been released as Infected Mushroom doing an Old School LIVE set, and joining the already announced Astrix, Ace Ventura, Perfect Stranger, Liquid Soul, Juno Reactor who are topping up a psy-trance bill that is one of the strongest seen at a UK festival in years!

DSTRKT 5 dance line up was announced a couple of weeks ago and was headed up by Squarepusher, Spor, Noisia, Machinedrum, Metalheadz takeover, Surgeon and many more.

This is just the first wave of headliners for Chapter 7 of BoomTown Fair that is bursting with so many genres the festival provides a musical tour, delving of the most powerful art forms in the world! The full district line ups are still to come and will cover the following genres on these dates:

10th Feb: Mayfair Avenue (Electro-Swing, Swing, Vintage remix)

13th Feb: OldTown (Balkan, Gypsy, Gypsy Punk & Pirate)

17th Feb: Barrio Loco (Hip hop, House, Bass, UK Garage)

BoomTown Fair Sold Out for 4th year running

BoomTown Fair

BoomTown Fair Sold Out for 4th year running

With just under a month to go until the juggernaut of BoomTown Fair unleashes mayhem onto the Winchester countryside, the UKs maddest fair has now officially SOLD OUT for the fourth year in a row! For those who have not managed to get their hands on one the coveted passes for BoomTown Fair 2012, to catch the likes of Reel Big Fish, Caravan Palace, Alborosie, Beenie Man, Tanya Stephens and a very special secret Sunday Headliner - all is not lost! There will be a re-sale for any of the unclaimed tickets from the deposit scheme on Friday 20th July at 9am.

BoomTown Fair is a unique event on the festival calendar and does things a little differently from all the others... transporting the festival goer into a fully working town, complete with a Bank, Casino, Hotel, numerous Saloons, theatre, street parties and so much more that the imagination can conjure! This year has seen the festival significantly expand, with the crash landing of Glastonbury’s Arcadia Spectacular taking over a whole new part of the town, more space for campers and the extension into the nearby woodland for tree top walkways and more sun dappled chill out areas. Even with this growth the festival has managed to sell out for the fourth year running in its four-year history!

Even though the festival is officially sold out, any unclaimed tickets from the deposit scheme will be re-released at 9am on Friday 20th July (estimated at around 500 tickets). Potential attendees are urged to get in there quickly as the demand for tickets is expected to be very high! http://www.theticketsellers.co.uk/tickets/boomtown-fair/10018485&wlid=3945

Ever since Arcadia crash landed into BoomTown back in February, strange things have been happening in the sleepy hollow of this Hampshire town. Most recently there have been sightings of non-human life forms in and around the streets of BoomTown! This intergalactic super race does not appear to be hostile and communicate through a simple form of dance. BoomTown committee are urging all inhabitants and visitors to the city to watch the following newsflash and instructional video so that everyone can peacefully interact with the alien invasion to form what will be BoomTown’s biggest flash mob! It will be taking place at the Town centre stage at 5pm on Saturday. http://www.boomtownfair.co.uk/page/boomtown-fair-flashmob

Although there will be a limited amount of tickets released on the 20th July, if rolling your sleeves up and getting fully involved in a festival is more your style, then there are still some spots left with the Oxfam Stewarding team. Not only do you get entry to the festival covered but you also are part of a fantastic team raising money for one of the most important global charities. Talk about a win-win situation! http://www.oxfam.org.uk/Stewarding/festivals/boomtownfair

The mega fete rolls into town over the weekend of 9th – 12th August, at the Matterly Estate in Winchester showcasing a pick ‘n’ mix line-up of the very best names in ska, dub, reggae and bass-heavy beats. All potential attendees are urged to get a wriggle on to ensure they get their hands on one of the remaining tickets for the hottest and craziest Fair in the land!

Due to last year’s overcrowding, caused by the pesky pixies jumping the fences and gate-crashers, the Town Mayor has had to make some serious decisions to ensure BoomTown can continue next year. New provisions have been made to make it nearly impossible to get in without a valid ticket including: Extending the fence perimeter (meaning no forests and undergrowth to commando roll through or trees to hide behind); increased height of the perimeter fence; the new security team presence outside and surrounding roads will be tripled from last year and there is a brand spanking new wristband system implemented to eliminate pass-backs and fraud!

For those who do get their hands on tickets there are a number of excellent new additions to make 2012 a more luxurious and stress free experience... Kicking off with the BoominStyles Banquet, BoomTown’s very own festival fine dining experience! Take a break from the surrounding madness by walking off the wild streets of BoomTown into a haven of calm and civility, to be greeted with a chilled glass of bubbly and waited on hand and foot by glamorous waiting staff! Another addition this year for all the Fair’s residents will be the Lockerhouse. On hand 24 hours a day to make sure you can keep your belongings safe, the lockers also have mobile phone charging facilities so you can power up whilst keeping it safely tucked up next to your camera, wallet or car keys! For full details and more information please visit: http://www.boomtownfair.co.uk/page/lockers

The big-hearted BoomTown council are not content with merely plotting and planning luxury, security and mayhem for this year’s fair, they have gone a step further for your listening pleasure and created Radio BoomTown!  The radio station is the first stop for the very best in ska, ska-punk, reggae, roots, gypsy and just plain havin' it party music!  For more info and to tune and treat your ears, head on over: http://www.radioboomtown.co.uk/

With over 90% of tickets sold, BoomTown are down to a limited amount of tier five tickets and will be sold out completely in the next few weeks!! Summer is in the air at BoomTown HQ... With last week’s first dollop of astonishing acts announced including; Reel Big Fish, Alborosie and Tanya Stephens the festival spirit is riding high, and now BoomTown are on the brink of combustion by announcing the next batch of summertime vibemasters! Ready and raring to take over the Town Centre as the Sunday Night headliner are French electro swing supremo’s Caravan Palace, whilst over on the Arcadia stage fellow Parisians, Dirtyphonics will be bashing out their mighty combination of electro, dubstep and drum & bass. Meanwhile Natty will be bringing his chilled out sunshine reggae to the Lion’s Den for a welcome Saturday afternoon rest-bite in preparation for the heavy tunes on Saturday night, from the mighty Jack Beats at Bassline Circus.

Caravan Palace have been taking European dancefloors by storm since 2008 with their effortless panache and genre defining mixture of classic electro and swing. After unfortunately having to pull out of last year’s festival, BoomTown’s council have got their spats and Brylcreem at the ready to bust out some original swing mastermoves to Caravan Palaces’ frantic, futuristic and melodious Charleston tunes fit for the Town Centre!

The union of Dirtyphonics and Arcadia for a sensational Sunday Night headliner is like a match made in post-apocalyptic Mad Max heaven! With their imposing industrial sculptures that have blighted the landscape at many-a-leading festival, Arcadia are well known for show-stopping laser, fire and aerial shows and Dirtyphonics will provide the perfect soundtrack and presence for this untameable beast! With their celebrated innovative production style and provocative live performances, this quintet of French pioneers have become renowned for causing a ‘ruckus’ and a ‘performance that leaves competitors in the dust’ - Knowledge Magazine. This is one performance not to miss and is guaranteed to thrill and alarm in equal measure!

Hailing from London, Natty has been involved in music for the majority of his life. With influences ranging from South Africa, Italy and the UK, Natty moves effortlessly from Reggae to West African Horns mixing in a fresh take on popular songs from completely different genres such as Armand Van Helden’s “U Don't Know Ne”. With two top 20 singles, “July” and “Bedroom Eyes” and a #1 hit in Japan with “Badman.” Natty has reached both critical and popular success as well as toured with some of the music industry’s greatest; including gigs with Baaba Maal, Lee Perry, and Adele. Natty will bring his very own feel good summertime vibes to the banks of the Lion’s Den on Saturday afternoon for a well earned bit of reggae relaxation therapy for the residents of BoomTown!

The Saturday Night Bassline Circus headliners come courtesy of the heavy tuneage of Jack Beats. This multiple award winning DJ duo is made up of Niall Dailly (DJ Plus One of Scratch Perverts fame) and Ben Geffin (The Mixologists). They have had an immediate and profound effect on the club scene since teaming up in 2007; producing transcendent remixes for La Roux, Passion Pit and Florence & The Machine amongst others and releasing their genre bending ‘U.F.O’ EP on HervĂ©’s Cheap Thrills Records.  With influences as diverse as Timbaland, Rage Against the Machine, A Guy Called Gerald and Sebastian, the two began to hone a style fusing House, Hip Hop and Dubstep with Electro and Drum & Bass… to create their own cutting edge sound that will blow the roof off BoomTown’s Bassline!

On top of these three top of the bill acts, BoomTown have ensnared the following additions to the line-up: For the ska, swing, punk, rockabilly stages BoomTown is pleased to welcome back The Beat and Dub Pistols, along with The Slackers, Gadjo, Sick Note, Pronghorn, Sonic Boom 6, Swing Zazuou and Gypsy Hill. New for the ragga, dub and dancehall stages will be Bush Chemists, Serial Killaz, Laid Blak, Jaya the Cat, The Barley Mob, Demonlition Man and many more... On the serious rave and bass heavy venues such as Arcadia and Bassline Circus, additions to the line-up include, Chris Liberator B2B Dave the Drummer, Shy FX, JFB, SL2 (live) and Ed Solo and many, many other bassline bashers!

With loads more acts and headliners to be announced, along with more information on the new stages, venues, street parties and camping facilities, the countdown to the world’s maddest fair has only just begun!

Here’s what the BoomTown’s Mayor has to say on what’s to come for 2012, as well as updated ticket news...

“The town walls have expanded dramatically for 2012, giving us almost double the space of 2011, yet the population is only enlarging a fraction to accommodate the new streets and stages, keeping the same great intimate BoomTown atmosphere.

Ticket sales are up 3 times on last year and it's becoming clear that most attendees left the fair last year and have invited all their friends to come along his year!!! Absolutely fantastic news, but it does mean the event will sell out much quicker than usual and if you don't want to miss the madness then we advice that you book your passes as soon as possible!”

BoomTown 2012 is over the weekend of 9 – 12th August, for more info or to buy tickets please visit: www.BoomTownfair.co.uk
