BoomTown Fair Sold Out for 4th year running

With just under a month to go until the juggernaut of BoomTown Fair unleashes mayhem onto the Winchester countryside, the UKs maddest fair has now officially SOLD OUT for the fourth year in a row! For those who have not managed to get their hands on one the coveted passes for BoomTown Fair 2012, to catch the likes of Reel Big Fish, Caravan Palace, Alborosie, Beenie Man, Tanya Stephens and a very special secret Sunday Headliner - all is not lost! There will be a re-sale for any of the unclaimed tickets from the deposit scheme on Friday 20th July at 9am.

BoomTown Fair is a unique event on the festival calendar and does things a little differently from all the others... transporting the festival goer into a fully working town, complete with a Bank, Casino, Hotel, numerous Saloons, theatre, street parties and so much more that the imagination can conjure! This year has seen the festival significantly expand, with the crash landing of Glastonbury’s Arcadia Spectacular taking over a whole new part of the town, more space for campers and the extension into the nearby woodland for tree top walkways and more sun dappled chill out areas. Even with this growth the festival has managed to sell out for the fourth year running in its four-year history!

Even though the festival is officially sold out, any unclaimed tickets from the deposit scheme will be re-released at 9am on Friday 20th July (estimated at around 500 tickets). Potential attendees are urged to get in there quickly as the demand for tickets is expected to be very high! http://www.theticketsellers.co.uk/tickets/boomtown-fair/10018485&wlid=3945

Ever since Arcadia crash landed into BoomTown back in February, strange things have been happening in the sleepy hollow of this Hampshire town. Most recently there have been sightings of non-human life forms in and around the streets of BoomTown! This intergalactic super race does not appear to be hostile and communicate through a simple form of dance. BoomTown committee are urging all inhabitants and visitors to the city to watch the following newsflash and instructional video so that everyone can peacefully interact with the alien invasion to form what will be BoomTown’s biggest flash mob! It will be taking place at the Town centre stage at 5pm on Saturday. http://www.boomtownfair.co.uk/page/boomtown-fair-flashmob

Although there will be a limited amount of tickets released on the 20th July, if rolling your sleeves up and getting fully involved in a festival is more your style, then there are still some spots left with the Oxfam Stewarding team. Not only do you get entry to the festival covered but you also are part of a fantastic team raising money for one of the most important global charities. Talk about a win-win situation! http://www.oxfam.org.uk/Stewarding/festivals/boomtownfair

As purveyors of the UK’s maddest city and sporting a smorgasbord of musical and festival delights, BoomTown Fair 2012 has now sold over 90% of their tickets! The mega fete rolls into town over the weekend of 9th – 12th August, at the Matterly Estate in Winchester showcasing a pick ‘n’ mix line-up of the very best names in ska, dub, reggae and bass-heavy beats. The bill this year includes; Reel Big Fish, Caravan Palace, The Skatalites, Beenie Man, Alborosie, Tanya Stephens, Natty, Gappy Ranks, David Rodigan, plus many more, as well as some of the most inventive and ingenious interactive site art, sculptures and sets to be seen on the festival circuit, including the exclusive ultimate full-show from Arcadia Spectacular!

With so many of the BoomTown residents having already snapped up their ticket to the annual fair, even with the increased capacity there are now less than 10% of tickets available! All potential attendees are urged to get a wriggle on to ensure they get their hands on one of the remaining tickets for the hottest and craziest Fair in the land!

Due to last year’s overcrowding, caused by the pesky pixies jumping the fences and gate-crashers, the Town Mayor has had to make some serious decisions to ensure BoomTown can continue next year. New provisions have been made to make it nearly impossible to get in without a valid ticket including: Extending the fence perimeter (meaning no forests and undergrowth to commando roll through or trees to hide behind); increased height of the perimeter fence; the new security team presence outside and surrounding roads will be tripled from last year and there is a brand spanking new wristband system implemented to eliminate pass-backs and fraud!

For those who do get their hands on tickets there are a number of excellent new additions to make 2012 a more luxurious and stress free experience... Kicking off with the BoominStyles Banquet, BoomTown’s very own festival fine dining experience! Take a break from the surrounding madness by walking off the wild streets of BoomTown into a haven of calm and civility, to be greeted with a chilled glass of bubbly and waited on hand and foot by glamorous waiting staff! Another addition this year for all the Fair’s residents will be the Lockerhouse. On hand 24 hours a day to make sure you can keep your belongings safe, the lockers also have mobile phone charging facilities so you can power up whilst keeping it safely tucked up next to your camera, wallet or car keys! For full details and more information please visit: http://www.boomtownfair.co.uk/page/lockers

The big-hearted BoomTown council are not content with merely plotting and planning luxury, security and mayhem for this year’s fair, they have gone a step further for your listening pleasure and created Radio BoomTown!  The radio station is the first stop for the very best in ska, ska-punk, reggae, roots, gypsy and just plain havin' it party music!  For more info and to tune and treat your ears, head on over: http://www.radioboomtown.co.uk/

With over 90% of tickets sold, BoomTown are down to a limited amount of tier five tickets and will be sold out completely in the next few weeks!! Please note; all teen, campervan and caravan tickets are also completely sold out! With the beast of Arcadia cementing its roots in Boomtown for this year’s festival; we can now reveal the first batch of acts confirmed on the monstrous line up. The first six to be announced are; MOBO award winner Alborosie, ska-punk supremo’s Reel Big Fish, legendary Jamaican Godfathers of ska The Skatalites, Jamaica’s number one female reggae artist Tanya Stephens, the indo-dub basslines of Asian Dub Foundation and the gypsy-punk global fusions of Balkan Beat Box. With a bounty of other heavy hitting, bass bashing, rock-n-romping acts firmly secured on the bill for Boomtown 2012, this is just the tip of the iceberg of what will be the maddest fair in the land!

With Alborosie topping the first of Boomtown’s line-up announcements, this is a sign of very good things to come! Knocking Damian Marley and Nas out of the running for the Best Reggae Act at the 2011 MOBO awards, Alborosie continues to go from strength to strength. First hitting the music scene back in the early 90’s with his band The Reggae National Tickets, this Sicilian born Rastafarian has won over critics and fans alike throughout his career, both as a band and later as a solo artist. His ascent to fame came with his debut album Soul Pirate which hosted some of his top hits including the mighty Kingston Town’ and Kingdom of Zion’. Revellers will need to strap-in as Alborosie’s set will be amplified by Boomtown’s legendary soundsystem where the bass will be ballistic and the lyrics lethal!

With their big hitting tunes Sell Out’ and I want your girlfriend to be my girlfriend’; Reel Big Fish were the heavy weights of the Ska-punk revival in the mid to late 90’s. Known for their hyperkinetic stage shows, mischievous humour and reworking of new-wave classics, Reel Big Fish won over underground and mainstream audiences on both sides of the Atlantic and beyond. Boomtown is the perfect pond for Reel Big Fish, and the town centre has more than enough gusto to stage these larger than life showmen!

‘The Skatalites’ is a name that needs no introduction for ska and reggae fans. More than a band, The Skatalites were and are an institution, a collection of world class musicians who didn't just define the sound of Jamaica, they were the sound of Jamaica across the '50s and '60s. Reforming in the mid 80’s they have been touring and recording ever since. Favourites on the UK festival circuit, these stalwarts of Jamaican Ska are true professionals and put on an awe-inspiring show and spread sunshine at every gig.

Reggae songstress Tanya Stephens is one of the most popular female recording artists to come out of Jamaica in recent years. Bursting onto the dancehall scene with an arresting sound, she quickly proved she could more than handle herself within this predominantly male vocation. Over the years she’s grown into her position and delivered some of the most topical, insightful lyrics in reggae. With ‘It’s a Pity’ Tanya achieved international recognition as a leading reggae / dancehall artist. Boomtown cannot wait to get winding and grinding with this crowd-pleasing goddess of gutsy lyricism!

Asian Dub Foundation are all set to bring their unique blend of rapcore, dub, dancehall and raga with a hefty punk influence to the streets of Boomtown. Often hailed as the 90’s version of the Clash or Sex Pistols, ADF have always pioneered their political ideals through a heavy bassline and pounding drum. Also set to headline Boomtown 2012 is the whirling boundary-less sounds of Balkan Beat Box. This trio put a modern twist on Mediterranean folk music combing horns, reggae vocals and hip hop drums into one almightily energetic mix up of genre spanning funk!

In addition to these top names, there are loads more big hitting and underground gems booked for so far for Boomtown, please see below for a breakdown of all acts booked via genres...
