Eugene Francis Jnr announces the release of his brand new single ‘Calliope Fuxwar’

The multi-talented Eugene Francis Jnr has announced the release of his brand new single ‘Calliope Fuxwar’ on November 12th 2012, taken from the highly anticipated forthcoming album ‘Death And Das Love Bytes’.

The enigmatic troubadour has found himself beating many a path in the creation of his new album. From supporting the likes of Coldplay, Tegan and Sara and Todd Rundgren, to selling everything he owned and riding out on a motorcycle into Latin America, then hiding out in a studio in Los Angeles to put down a menagerie of ideas and life experiences on record that make up ‘Death And Das Love Bytes’.

The new single ‘Calliope Fuxwar’ is perhaps the perfect introduction to the direction Eugene Francis Jnr has taken in recording ‘Death And Das Love Bytes’, but it still only scratches the surface of a record bubbling over with ideas and rich in influences.

Here is Eugene’s take on how the new single came about;

“Calliope Fuxwar was really the product of reading endless Greek mythology on the road, listening to nothing but dubby complextro, French house and grunge for a week then getting my mittens on a new little drum machine and vocal sampler.

I wanted something musical but dirty, something to dance to but equally something to pogo to. I had also just watched Drive and was blown away by the synthy piano soundtrack.“

Recalling influences ranging from MSTRKRFT and Daft Punk to Sleigh Bells and Animal Collective, and spanning across avant-garde soundscapes to joyful folktronica, Eugene Francis Jnr playfully fuses together beats, loops and samples to create multi-layered and infectious pop songs.

It’s a heady combination and one that marks Eugene Francis Jnr out as a truly compelling artist and a serious one-to-watch in the run up to his new album ‘Death And Das Love Bytes’.

Eugene Francis Jnr performs at this year’s SWN festival on October 21st. The new single ‘Calliope Fuxwar’ is out on November 12th 2012 from all good digital stores. The album ‘Death And Das Love Bytes’ will be out in early 2013.

The multi-talented Eugene Francis Jnr has announced a new single ‘Necronomicon’ to be released on June 11th2012, the first track taken from Eugene’s forthcoming album ‘Death And Das Love Bytes’ out this autumn.

Having released his debut LP (The Golden Beatle) in 2008, Eugene Francis Jnr spent the best part of the following year touring with seven-piece folktronica outfit The Juniors, supporting the likes of Coldplay, Tegan and Sara and Todd Rundgren.

In typical troubadour style, Eugene then sold everything he had accumulated, flew to Los Angeles, bought a motorcycle and set off on a sixteen-month adventure throughout the US, Canada and Latin America. Returning to the City Of Angels overflowing with new song ideas, a sprig of production magic and a brainful of the vivacity catalysed by momentous life experiences.

Since then Eugene has been recording his new album ‘Death And Das Love Bytes’ in his Californian studio. The new album is definitely a more electronic departure from his previous dalliances, with lashings of analogue goodness and hunks of dirty digital meat writhing together in a symbiotic, sweaty mass.

The first single ‘Necromonicon’ is the perfect introduction to the new direction for Eugene, but is only the start of the diversity that can heard throughout the album. Joyful folktronica in places and sinister, minimal and avant-garde in others, he playfully fuses beats, loops and synthesized samples together to form multi-layered and infectious pop songs. Despite overflowing into the electronic stratosphere more than ever before, the songs still carry his trademark vocal – a spliced approximation of Jonathan Richman and Conor Oberst.

‘Necronomicon’ is out on June 11th2012 from all good digital stores. The album ‘Death And Das Love Bytes’ is out this Autumn.
