Sound City announce Bastille, On An On, Temples, Duologue and more to an outstanding line up for first festival of the year

Bastille, On An On, Temples, Duologue
Sound City is thrilled to confirm even more exciting acts for the first festival of the year.  Famed for showcasing the most adventurous acts in the world right now, Sound City is a thrilling three day rock n’ roller coaster and the first opportunity to catch the globes most boundary pushing artists in one place before they hit the summer festival circuit.  Last year saw Mercury Music Prize winners Alt-J, Jake Bugg and Django Django perform before the bands released critically and commercially acclaimed albums later in the year and previous performances have included early shows from Florence and the Machine, The Maccabeesand Ed Sheeran.
The most exciting prospect in indie for a long time, Bastille, recently entered the UK album chart at number 1 with their debut album, ‘Bad Blood’ and have been confirmed to appear at Sound City.  Bad Blood is full of triumphantly melancholic anthems, epic sounding instrumentation and lyrics that combine intimate stories and conversation and their clever pop has cast Bastille as leading lights in the current resurgence of guitar music in the UK.
Sound City is committed to providing a platform for emerging musical talent and new confirmations include the fuzzy guitars and chunky synth riffs of On an On, the psychedelic sounds of Temples, the dance floor friendly beats of local boys Tea Street Band, the effortless marriage of rock and electronica that is Duologue and hotly tipped Liverpool bandLoved Ones.  By The Sea, All We Are, Broken Men, Bird, Nadine Carina, Ady Suleiman, Concrete Knives, Sun Glitters, Mutiny On The Bounty, Afternaut and Silent Sleep also join the bill.
The line-up for this year’s Sound City is hugely impressive and will feature very special shows from Noah and the Whale, Dexys and The Walkmen, all of whom will be performing in Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral.  Other acts not to be missed at Sound City includeEverything Everything, AlunaGeorge, Melody’s Echo Chamber, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, King Krule, Mount Kimbie, Thee Oh Sees, Drenge and Oneohtrix Point Never as the globes most pioneering musical adventurers descend on Liverpool for the first festival of the year.
Sound City is a snapshot of everything that is vital in music right now

Chicago trio ON AN ON release their new video for 'Ghosts

ON AN ON was birthed from the ashes of Scattered Trees, following the departures of two members earlier this year. Nate Eiesland, Alissa Ricci and Ryne Estwing decided to carry on with a name change, and they already have a stunning 10-track debut album to show for it. Recorded with Dave Newfeld (Broken Social Scene), 'Give In' will see a January 29th release via Roll Call Records. In the words of the group, the album will be "a dream-washed textural journey armed with a biting perspective on life, love and the commonality of loss".

First single 'Ghosts' has already made a massive impact - reaching the HypeMachine #1 Most Popular spot, creeping up towards the 90,000 play mark on Soundcloud, and earning some serious press love.

"It's a slow-burning ballad, characterized by the trio's multi-part harmonies and Phil Spector-sized production." Prefix Mag

"Ghosts is as arresting and impressive as anything you will hear in 2012" The Recommender

"we hear a group of experienced musicians completely in tune with one another, whilst capturing the energy and excitement of fresh inspiration. And it's as epic a debut track you're likely to hear all year." This Is Fake DIY

Syd Arthur - release New single, Dorothy

Dawn Chorus Recording Co.
November 12th

NOW ALSO WORKING WITH COMMUNION LIVE
Syd Arthur, a quartet of Canterbury-based devotees of sound immersed in the simple pleasures of songwriting, performance and exploratory musical interplay, will release forthcoming single Dorothy on November 12th; their first release since summer 2012’s critically acclaimed debut album, On An On.

Greatly inspired by the sonic pioneers of the late 60s and early 70s, they have patiently learned how to engineer, produce and mix themselves, using an innovative hybrid of analogue and digital techniques. Naturally, in 2009, Wicker Studios, their own studio space was created, followed by their record label, Dawn Chorus Recording Company. Syd Arthur may revel in the music of decades long past but, as psychedelic rock goes, they match the hallucinogenic sounds of modern contemporaries like Wolf People, Black Mountain, Tame Impala, even Making Dens era Mystery Jets - with imaginative, whimsically sweet, melodies.

After the huge critical success of their debut album, On An On, Dorothy finds the band in a suitably whimsical state, the instruments and textures are given a chance to shine with swirling keys taking an integral role. Lyrically, the poetry, honesty and mystique of Liam Magill’s vocals are at the forefront, as he muses on life.

Syd Arthur’s intricate, high-energy live sets, which to date include Glastonbury and Secret Garden slots, have resulted in a large following – one that is also burgeoning in Europe as they continue to pick up tours in France, Belgium, The Netherlands and most recently Italy. This is an accomplished live band. Dorothy looks set to further cement Syd Arthur as a band to watch heading into 2013.
