Catfish and The Bottlemen to release debut single Homesick

Catfish and The Bottlemen to release debut single Homesick

Llandudno 4 piece Catfish And The Bottlemen will release their debut single ‘Homesick’ through Communion Records on June 17, 2013. Working with producer and Communion co-founder Ian Grimble (Daughter, British Sea Power, Red Hot Chili Peppers) at the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales, ‘Homesick’ is the first offering from what is proving to be a hugely productive session.

The track has already picked up radio plays from Steve Lamacq on 6Music and Zane Lowe on Radio 1, who tipped the single as his ‘Next Hype’ track. Catfish And The Bottlemen signed to Communion Records (Ben Howard, Michael Kiwanuka, Deap Valley, Half Moon Run) this Spring, following a furious 18 month period which saw them play over 100 live shows both in the UK and abroad.

Having honed their incredibly tight live set- which invariably sees frontman Van McCann climbing the walls and playing guitar as though his life depended on it- playing clubnights for Carl Barat and 6Music’s Chris Hawkins and persuading the likes of The Vaccines to attend their gigs, 2013 sees the band embarking on a headline UK tour- including London Barfly on June 3- alongside summer festival appearances at Dot to Dot, The Great Escape and Tramlines. Catfish And The Bottlemen are Van McCann (vocals and guitar), Billy Bibby (lead guitar), Benji Blakeway (bass) and Bob Hall (drums).

Fairchild Republic release Arcadia EP 25th March 2013

Fairchild Republic release Arcadia EP 25th March 2013

Australian six piece Fairchild Republic release their four track EP Arcadia on the 25th March 2013 before heading to the UK and Europe for a summer tour, including a performance at The Great Escape 2013.

Hailing from the Gold Coast, Fairchild Republic are described as playing an atmospheric style of alternative indie rock, completed by soaring vocal melodies. The four tracks recorded and self produced in their home studio, are taken from their Australian released album Wish Upon a Paper Crane.

Lead video Arcadia is a catchy and emotion-filled piece of music reflecting on the times when we live in our imaginary place of bliss incorporating everything a lead single requires - a strong melody, a hooky chorus, jangly guitar (similar Two Door Cinema Club), along with being upbeat and rhythmically driven designed to get people on the dance floor.

Stay Young slows things down and showcases lead singer Adam Lyons’s vocal talent, along with the bands beautifully layered harmonies.  Stemming from the main guitar riff at the beginning of the track - this was one those songs that came together very quickly. Despite changing the drums a number of times - the lyrics capture the essence of your youth.

The third track from the EP, Outside features some twinkling guitar work, perfect harmonies from the Lyons brothers but also is a winning live track which just epitomises Fairchild Republic's ability to create a song that is simply enjoyable to listen to.

Closing track Running Bear delivers a wonderful clean-yet-almost-distorted lead guitar melody, mixed with strong lifting vocals and the rhythm section. The only track where the melody was written before the instruments, the guys opted for a fuzzed out bass, driving synths and soaring guitars.  Lyrically it appears to have some dark under tones however it is simply a love story exploring the highs and lows of relationships.

They have supported the likes of Neon Indian, Last Dinosaurs, Kids of 88, Parachute Youth, The Medics, Northeast Party House, The Cairos and Cub Scouts. Along with performances at festivals such as The Big Day Out, 4 Walls and Oneway Project, touring Japan and being half-time entertainment at Metricon Stadium for The Gold Coast Suns.

Fairchild Republic are Adam Lyons, Nathan Lyons, Tim Voeten, Patrick Huerto, James Haigh and Tommy Davies. They draw influences from acts such as The Killers, The Temper Trap, Editors, White Lies, Klaxons & Foals, the guys released their debut EP Ships are for Sailing in 2010.
