The Handsome Family sold out show London

The Handsome Family to play sold out show in London next week

The Handsome Family have been feted by the likes of Ringo Starr and covered by artists such as Jeff Tweedy, Cerys Matthews, Christy Moore and Andrew Bird. In a career that spans twenty years they've toured the world in their own charmingly DIY fashion - one car, one hotel room, one stage.... night after night after night - and in that time they've performed as a duo, with a band and have had onstage collaborations with such folk-royalty as Eliza Carthy, country legend Charlie Louvin and indie-kings like Nick Cave and Jarvis Cocker. In each and every instance they've more than held their own, thanks in the main to their songs - a series of unique and wondrous compositions that, as Jeff Tweedy once said, are the “product of two beautiful brains”.

Following an extensive European tour earlier in the year to support their latest album 'Wilderness', The Handsome Familly return to London for a sold-out London show at Islington Assembly Hall on Wednesday 29th October 2014.

2014 has been a big year for The Handsome Family, with their track 'Far From Any Road' being chosen for the main title sequence of cult HBO series 'True Detectives'.

Wild animals, tall tales, and folk-lore from American history populate Wilderness - the latest studio album from New Mexico's Handsome Family, released on Loose Music. Recorded at home in Albuquerque and at the Wilco Loft in Chicago it's a record that found husband & wife duo Brett and Rennie Sparks blending Appalachian holler, psych-rock and Tin Pan Alley inspired melodies to conjure up a world where David Attenborough meets David Lynch in a Honky-Tonk bar at midnight.

Rouge release debut E.P. Edge of the Bed

Rouge are an all girl four piece from London. Launching with an explosive hometown show in April 2013, they have showcased their fuzzy blues rock style to audiences nationwide. Having been compared to the likes of Deap Vally and Haim, the band picked up support from around the world following the release of debut single 'Wilderness' in November 2013. The DIY release, accompanied by a headline UK tour, was met with rave reviews, leading the initial run of handmade physical CDs to sell out within a month, and high profile support slots followed in early 2014 with the likes of The Subways, To Kill a King and Bite the Buffalo.

Amongst all of this, and in between playing packed out shows at The Garage and Barfly in London, the girls found the time to lock themselves in the studio, taking their time to prepare and perfect their first official EP, with Adam Crowe of Snap Studios. 16th June will see the highly accomplished EP released to the world, led by title track 'Edge of the Bed', and accompanied by a stunning new music video, shot in one day in a West London warehouse. The EP showcases both sides of the band, with the raw power and stomping blues of Edge of the Bed and Wilderness being complimented by the slower, soulful vocals of Strike and Limit to Your Love.

The EP is available to preorder now, and is released officially 16th June, available in physical format from the official website, and to download and stream via all the usual outlets. Keep your eyes peeled as the Rouge girls step it up a notch. Bursting forward in leaps and bounds musically, the Edge of the Bed release will see the band cover yet more of the country, responding to the demands of their ever growing fan base, and continuing 2014 with the sort of momentum that can only lead them onto a very bright future.
