Enter the Commission debut Mixtape : Book of Five Rings – Methods of War

The collective forces of Emcees resurrecting hip-hop are proud to release their debut Mixtape ‘Book of Five Rings – Methods of War’ on the 23^rd April 2012

The group members consist of Kingo, Mico, Big Boss, Simon-Sez, Nik Abstract, Tiy-e and USA based rapper A-Train who is from Detroit.

‘Book of Five Rings’ was created over a two year period and consists of twenty eight tracks. The project inspired by the late Miyamoto Musashi’s novel has shaped the diverse sounds of the project defined as ‘Rings’. Each ring is allotted to a progressive journey; characterised by five tales: The Flowing Water Cut, how to handle the Long Sword, Fire and Stones Cut, the Wind Book and the Continuous cut.

Listeners can expect a rap elevation and appreciation for the raw, lucid, complex and spiritual sounds of a hip-hop group who have truly honed their craft.

Enter the commission have supported Gza (of the Wu Tang Clan) in December 2011 at the O2 academy in Liverpool after building a sizeable buzz performing in venues across London such as the Finsbury , Vibe Bar , Hoxton Square Bar , Camp Basement ( alongside Roxxxan & Pepstar ), AAA and the Brixton Ritzy.

Real Hip Hop with an international Flavor is what you can expect from The Commission. As the hip hop movement begins to retreat back to its glory days, a group of youngsters from the home of the Beatles are set to go global.

The Commission are determined to resuscitate hip hop and give it a new lease of life. Hip-hop was not just a smart way of lacing great puns as lyrics: it was a way of life, a state of mind and even considered as an art form. The collective group of emcees consists of Simon-sez, Mico, Golden Poetry, Afro, Big Boss, A-train and Nick Abstracts. The commission’s music breathes the very essence of real hip-hop but with a modern stance. Many of their musical influences are deeply rooted in their music, dating back to the 90s such as Nas, Notorious B.I.G., Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Big L, Wu Tang Clan, Tupac, Big Pun, Mobb Deep, GhostFace Killah, NWA, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and many more.

The commission have performed at the Halo Warrington, Red Rooms, Thirsty Scholar Manchester, Zanzibar Liverpool, The Masque, Bar Samurai,The Novaz Building, Preston Fire it up Carnival, Preston Street Festival, Sefton Park Home Grown Talent,Radio 1, Radio City and Bar Music Hall. The Commission have also been featured on BBC Merseyside (Billy Butler), Knight Radio FM and Radio City.
