APB release their brand new album Egos and Expectations

APB new album Egos and Expectations

APB release their brand new album Egos and Expectations

Toronto hip hop duo, APB (The Airplane Boys) announce the release of their brand new record ‘Egos and Expectations’ - OUT NOW via the Beau Monde Collective.

Toronto is known as a melting pot for many cultures, so we wanted to be as diverse and use as many colours as possible with our soundscape” - the melodies on ‘Egos and Expectations’ are stencilled by 90s Pop/R&B and the bass lines bounce with the funk and grooves they grew up on.  The storytelling takes the driver’s seat with smooth, rhythmic wordplay that draws from their real life experiences balancing “Love in relationships with others, as well as the music industry, but more importantly our love for ourselves.”

APB have had the opportunity to spread their creative movement around the world, traveling through the US, Canada, UK and all over Asia; whilst the whole time recording new music and shooting new videos. They thrive on the excitement and creativity of the ‘Information Age’ that we live in, crafting a very specific place for themselves in the current musical landscape whilst pushing boundaries constantly and working to provide fans with stimulating and fresh content wherever possible. They’ve managed to accomplish this right from their inception in 2011 and continue to do so on their new record ‘Egos and Expectations’, with the videos for new tracks Some Say and Harvest already showing that they’ve not only taken steps forward with their new music but giant leaps in both sound and concept.

Having already received critical acclaim from the likes of Billboard, Complex, Hypebeast, VICE, XXL, Vibe and MTV, their next step is to bring their raw rebellious sound to Europe. Raising the bar musically, creatively and within the worlds of art, fashion and design, APB is looking to establish themselves as the new creative class.

‘Egos and Expectations’ is available now via free stream and download at TheAirplaneBoys.com

APB will be holding an ‘Egos and Expectations' record release show at Toronto's Virgin Mobile Mod Club on Sunday, July 20th. More details to be announced soon.

MusicMafia presents Dirtybuzz

Dirtybuzz

MusicMafia presents Dirtybuzz

Back when Dirtybuzz started creating music he didn’t have his own computer, neither direction nor guidance. This was Manchester 2005 and throughout his final high school year began playing at the thought at creating music. He had played classical instruments in the past but that’s another story.

Once he started using hardware for production it took his music to another level. In 2009 to 2010 he was acquiring more hardware and started to take his music more seriously than ever.

In his early production days Dirtybuzz was heavily influenced by hip hop, a side effect that has given his music a unique twist. He uses rhythm as melody and melody as rhythm.

Dirtybuzz is always experimenting and creating new sounds that continue to inspire the people around him. Other producers and vocalists want to work with him; they say no one can get the sound like his, even when he is engineering other musicians’ tracks.

DJ’s and Music labels have been following his development closely waiting for the next best thing to come from his home studio.  He has been approached to be signed multiple times but dismissed the offers as he felt he always could do better musically. He believes every track is improved one way or another over the last.

He composes , arranges, engineers, produces and masters each track by himself.

In December 2012 Dirtybuzz took to the art of DJing. With his past musical roots and strong experimental methods he learnt the basics and had his first paid gig within a week. After a couple of months he was invited to do a 40 minute radio set for a radio station broadcast from Aiya Nappa.  Naturally the 40 minutes of music was all his own.

This brings us to now. After being featured on BBC Introducing he feels ready and confident. He wants the world to hear his sound and join him on his journey.

He currently has a strong following on Facebook, Soundcloud and twitter. According to Soundcloud only around 50% of his views and followers are from the UK.

Dirtybuzz says it’s “Music Made to Make you Move” which embodies the spirit of his production.

The collective group of emcees consists of Simon-sez, Mico, Golden Poetry, Afro, Big Boss, A-train and Nick Abstracts. The commission’s music breathes the very essence of real hip-hop but with a modern stance. Many of their musical influences are deeply rooted in their music, dating back to the 90s such as Nas, Notorious B.I.G., Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Big L, Wu Tang Clan, Tupac, Big Pun, Mobb Deep, GhostFace Killah, NWA, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and many more.

La Fontaine & Uton - London City

La Fontaine & Uton release new single London City

22 year old Essex based producer / singer La Fontaine teams up with Uton for the release of his latest single 'London City'.

Introduced to a wide variety of music at an early age by his parents, La Fontaine discovered his love for hip-hop and R&B as a teenager and soon began writing lyrics of his own. His passion then led him to a Sound Engineering & Music Technology college course in Islington, London, whilst he perfected his sound from a crude home studio set up in his bedroom. In late 2010 La Fontaine produced and co-wrote his first independent release ‘Go Go Go’, a collaboration with 2amplified and The Gents. The song received over 12,000 hits in it's first two months on Youtube and picked up strong TV support from Channel AKA, paving the way for La Fontaine's future success.

Fast forward to 2012, and La Fontaine has released a brand new smash titled 'London City'. The track is a collaboration with French ragga singer Uton, who has established himself as a leading purveyor of the genre since his 1999 hit 'Cocaine Business', along with a host of guest appearances in the hip hop world.

Accompanied by a slick, club themed visual, the single amalgamates RnB, dancehall and pop to create what is set to be one of 2012's biggest club anthems. La Fontaine fans will love it, clubbers will request it and DJs will be red in the face without it in their record box this winter.

Exclusive interview with 21 Perspective

Exclusive interview with Hip Hop Artist 21 Perspective

21 Perspective is a London based artist with a lot of passion. He started his career as an artist manager but now 21 Perspective takes his experience and stories and applies them to his own craft. We get to speak to the man himself and asked him a few questions on his music, his career and the role religion plays in his music

You have a degree in Philosophy and in medicine; does this play a part in your lyrics and song writing?
Yeah definitely. It just gave me a bit of introspection into myself and the world around. I only ever write about things I’ve seen or done so the Philosophy kinda just helped me add to the critical analysis of what I do

How would you describe your music to the people out there?
It’s real. It’s just me but on a microphone. I’m the same kinda person but just broken down. So when I record as the Suicide Kid or the Romantic I’m just tapping into different parts of myself using different tones, contents, lyrics and so forth. End of the day I’m just being me. I mean I’m not the coolest guy. I don’t get a lot of girls! I mean I just want to express myself and this gives me the avenue to do that.
In terms of genre my latest stuff really isn’t restricted. I’ve done acoustic stuff, hip hop, RnB and my latest stuff I’m about to put out is sorta urban soul, I guess.

The name 21 perspective. Is there meaning behind it?
Yeah I started music at the age of 21. It’s also the year I just figured out how I feel about a lot of things so it made sense for me put the two together. Plus I think it’s a bit different and will make people remember it

You are also a film maker do you feature your own music in your movies or do you like to steer clear of that?
Yeah I’m in two minds about this constantly. I pretty much hate everything I do and am super self critical so ask me on the day of the shoot! Haha got a video shoot later this week . I try and play it to the content of what we’re shooting if I’m completely honest

The debut mixtape “straightAstudent” is being developed, can you give us some insight into how this will sound and feel?
Old school jazz hip-hop. I’m a MASSIVE Tribe Called Quest, Mos Def, Rakim fan – all those classics so it’s got that intelligent, chilled feel to it.

Are you always looking to venture into different avenues as you have achieved a lot so far?
I haven’t achieved anything! But yes. I just dropped a poetry video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DvHiyc7-zM&feature=channel_video_title. I would like to focus  a little more on my blog – it’s just to vent my academia to be honest. Sometimes it’s hard to do that and be melodic and musical!

Does your religion play a major part in your thought process or is this something you like to keep away from when writing/singing?
Definitely. Everything I’m saying is linked to religion if I’m honest. Pretty much everything.  I’m rarely overt with it but it’s constantly in the back of my mind ensuring I keep a check on everything I say and do.

What can we expect next from you?
Hopefully soon I can drop my film, mixtape and another poetry video if things fall into the right place

Any tours coming up? If so where and when can people check you out?

My manager’s got me a few shows up north soon I think. But come and check me out at:

21 Perspective - My Ideal Woman EP

21 Perspective - My Ideal Woman EP

Hip-hop artist, poet and actor 21 Perspective bursts onto the UK music scene with his 6 track EP 'My Ideal Woman'.

21 Perspective first found his footings in the industry as an artist manager, overseeing the signing of fellow UK artist SwiftKnight to District 6 Publishing (Just Blaze, Donaeo, K Koke) in 2010. This early behind the scenes success set the scene for 21 Perspective's emergence as an artist in his own right.

With a broad spectrum of influences ranging from poets such as Christopher Marlowe and Rumi to musicians such as Lupe Fiasco and Dot Rotten, 21 Perspective is a unique musical entity with a sound which single handily spans hip hop, acoustic rock, pop and RnB. Keen to promote a positive and educated attitude in his music, he is currently in his 4th year as a medical student and previously graduated with a first from a Philosophy BSc degree at UCL. As an actor, he has appeared in several major productions (including critically acclaimed online drama No I.D) and has worked alongside the cast of Shank, Kidulthood and Eastenders. He is also writing, producing, starring and directing the soon-to-be-released 'Rivers of Blood' movie.

'My Ideal Woman' is the first long player from 21 Perspective, and is best described as a musical saga which sees him searching for his perfect girl. Ever innovative, he created two alter egos: the Suicide Kid and the Romantic (who makes an appearance on the EP). The EP was originally released via YouTube in August of this year, and now 21 Perspective has decided to re-release the project as a free digital download package featuring two brand new, never before heard tracks.

The EP is the prologue to 21 Perspective’s forthcoming mixtape ‘#StraightAStudent’ which is due for release in the first quarter of 2012.

FlickaDotCircus release their debut single Rabbits Vein and e.p. FGT

FlickaDotCircus release their debut single Rabbits Vein and e.p. FGT

East London based group FlickaDotCircus follow up the release of their debut single ‘Rabbits Vein’ with a self produced 10 track EP titled ‘FGT’.
Consisting of producer LOA, MCs Alfalfa and KillaNick, as well as various other DJ members, FlickaDotCircus have been formulating their sound together in the studio for just half a year, whilst performing separately at events across the UK including Rhythm Factory, Liverpool Barfly, Cargo, Richmix and the Secret Garden Party. Creating what they describe themselves as "interesting, non-regurgitated hip-hop", FlickaDotCircus are keen to avoid being branded as a 'UK urban act’; in fact, they're keen to avoid any pigeon holes at all.
The group’s debut long player, titled ‘FGT’, welcomes the listener into FlickaDotCircus’ world of abstract sampling, processed drum breaks, gut trembling sub basses and inspired wordplay. Despite containing obvious influences from underground hip hop, critics would be foolish to assume ‘FGT’ falls cleanly within such a clear cut category. Throughout its 10 tracks, listeners are treated to a range of carefully crafted instrumentation, including beautifully epic string and brass lines, jungle themed drum breaks, bouncing synthesized basses and even XX-esque guitar riffs (the outstanding final track on the EP, ‘Ah Nah’, being a perfect example of the level of production on show). MCs Alfalfa and KillaNick serve up a range of concept driven vocal performances, which at times familiarise themselves with the likes of Foreign Beggars and even Kool G Rap (thanks to some of the multi syllable rhyme patterns on offer), but mostly sounding like nothing you’ve ever heard before.  This blend of influences and genres means fans of forward thinking British music will find as much solace in the EP as hardened fans of already established sounds, and guides listeners perfectly into the extraordinarily twisted world of FlickaDotCircus.

FlickaDotCircus release debut single Rabbits Vein

FlickaDotCircus release debut single Rabbits Vein

Introducing forward thinking East London based group FlickaDotCircus, with their debut single release 'Rabbits Vein'.
Consisting of producer LOA, MC's Alfalfa and KillaNick, as well as various other DJ members, FlickaDotCircus have been formulating their sound together in the studio for half a year, whilst performing separately at events across the UK including Rhythm Factory, Liverpool Barfly, Cargo, Richmix and the Secret Garden Party. Creating what they describe themselves as "interesting, non-regurgitated hip-hop", FlickaDotCircus are keen to avoid being branded as a 'UK urban act’; in fact, they're keen to avoid any pigeon holes at all.
Their debut release, 'Rabbits Vein', categorically drives this point home. As a glisteningly original blend of jungle infused breaks, dreamy pads and a vocal sample lifted effortlessly from Rosemary Clooney's 1954 Billboard hit 'Hey There', the single doesn't just bridge a gap between genres, it makes a whole new path of its own. MCs Alfalfa and KillaNick use this backdrop to deliver flawless vocal performances, proving they can write verses with meaningful content whilst more than holding their own in the booth. Accompanied by a neon soaked visual courtesy of director Felix Kemp (with co-direction from LOA), the single acts as a perfect introduction to the unique, blustering, multifaceted sound of FlickaDotCircus.
'Rabbits Vein' is taken from FlickaDotCircus' forthcoming EP 'FGT', which is due for free download release this Thursday (15th December).

Kay 2 x The Strange Days - The Strangest Day

Kay 2 x The Strange Days - The Strangest Day

West London based Kay 2 & The Strange Days release their highly anticipated, self produced debut mixtape titled ‘The Strangest Day’.
Having grown up on a small council estate in Chelsea / Fulham with a rich Moroccan and Irish heritage, music played a monumental part in the upbringing of Kay 2 & The Strange Days, something which has transcended into the music they make today. "It's basically Pop and Hip Hop, with a mixture of any other genre we like," they reveal, whilst name checking the likes of J.Cole, Wiz Khalifa, Mayer Hawthorn, Kid Cudi and Curren$y as some of their musical influences.
They've already peaked at Number 2 on the Myspace UK Unsigned Music Charts, and received interest from countless record labels, distribution companies and tastemakers from across the industry. The duo also appeared on Channel AKA’s recent ‘Streets, Grime and Life’ compilation CD alongside the likes of N Dubz, Skepta, Loick Essien, JME, Chimpunk, Wiley, Ghetts, Lethal Bizzle and many more.
At 17 tracks deep, ‘The Strangest Days’ is a collection of some of Kay 2 & The Strange Day’s best work to date. Featuring mostly all of group member Mike’s production (barring ‘Hard To Say’ which is a cover of The Streets – At The Back Of The Line), the mixtape takes listeners on a uniquely obscure journey through British life viewed in the eyes of two music loving, weed smoking, thought consumed teenagers, who are just trying to make sense of ever present madness unravelling in front of their eyes.
Comprised of some devilishly abstract sampling, effervescent percussion, gentle guitar riffs and awe filled string sections, the instrumentation maintains a familiar aura throughout without becoming repetitive, whilst the duo’s blend of gawkish lyricism and honest chorus lines demonstrate exactly why Kay 2 & The Strange Days are being tipped as one the UK’s most exciting new music acts.

Jack and Max release debut E.P. Ampersand

Jack and Max release debut E.P. Ampersand

Hot on the heels of their latest single release ‘Angels With Filthy Souls’, UK hip hop duo Jack & Max drop their eagerly anticipated, ravishingly dark debut EP ‘Ampersand’.
Born and raised in South London, the brothers both had relatively successful careers as solo artists whilst working with the likes of Krept & Konan (Play Dirty), XO Man, Jade Dragon (The Bang Bang / Bump) and Snakeyman (4321, Adulthood), before coming together under the moniker of ‘Tha Tag Team’ in 2008. With little to no promotion, their debut single 'Show Me Something' managed to receive air play on Choice FM, Kiss 100, 1Xtra, MTV Base & Channel AKA, demonstrating the immense talent these rappers / producers / songwriters possess.
Jack & Max have since released several solo mix-tapes & videos online, counting over 80,000 YouTube views in the process. The pair also recently filmed with Channel 4 as part of their Random Acts segment, showcasing 260 diverse, specially commissioned three-minute films chosen for their bold and original expressions of creativity.
Skip to winter 2011, and Jack & Max are in the process of stunning the industry with some of their most accomplished work to date. With the first single from the EP (‘Angels With Filthy Souls’) still ringing fresh in many-a-bloggers ears, the duo deliver another quality release, this time in the form of seven self-produced, hip hop-electronic-grime-soul fused tracks. With a variety of sounds, genres, techniques and subject matter at play, the Ampersand EP is more of an experience than a collection of music. Fans of original hip hop will appreciate the sample based musings of ‘Angels With Filthy Souls’ and ‘Tattoos and Tongue Rings’, whilst fans of electronic based music (notably grime heads) will find solace in the synth laden sounds of ‘Beg Friend’, ‘Don’t Worry About Me’ and ‘Spaced Out’ (which is produced by Ripper aka Jargon VA, who has previously lent his talents to collaborations with Tinie Tempah, Cherri V and Ice Kid). Jack & Max’s final outing on the EP, a simple yet effective track which samples a vocal line from Frank Ocean, offers something completely different for listeners, rounding off the EP in superb fashion and completing the audio journey which Ampersand represents.
The Ampersand EP is available as a free download now via Splash World Music Group (a business enterprise which collectively manages a weekly radio show, promotes & hosts events and brings together a roster of artists from different backgrounds, for those that don't know).

Jack and Max - Angels With Filthy Souls the video

We are proud to present the sounds of UK hip hop duo Jack Frost and Max Browz, otherwise known as Jack & Max. In advance of their forthcoming debut EP ‘Ampersand’, the duo have released the project's lead single 'Angels With Filthy Souls' along with a beautifully twisted visual to feast your eyes upon.
Jack & Max have since released several solo mix-tapes & videos online, counting over 16.5 million YouTube views in the process. The pair also recently filmed with Channel 4 as part of their Random Acts segment, showcasing 260 diverse, specially commissioned three-minute films chosen for their bold and original expressions of creativity.
Skip to winter 2011, and Jack & Max are now lining up their most impressive works to date. With their debut EP ‘Ampersand’ due for release in just 7 days time (28/11/11), the duo have decided to unleash the lead single from the project titled 'Angels With Filthy Souls' to the eagerly anticipating public. Showcasing some well practised production skills, the single is driven by an alluring string line and throbbing bass stabs throughout, allowing Jack & Max to tell a tale of easy girls, greed, money and motivation, making ‘AWFS’ one of the most thought provoking singles you will probably hear all year.
The single and EP are both released via the established Splash World Music Group (a business enterprise which collectively manages a weekly radio show, promotes & hosts events and brings together a roster of artists from different backgrounds, for those that don't know), with the EP set to be available as a free download next Monday.

Introducing Multiple Skillz - Fatherless

Introducing 24 year old rapper / songwriter / producer / engineer Multiple Skillz - a South East London based wordsmith aiming to make an impact in the British hip hop world with his uplifting new single titled 'Fatherless'.
Multiple Skillz, being, multiply skilled, first started DJing at just 13 years young, building favour locally by always staying on top of his game and being recognised for always knowing how to please a crowd. After 3 years of playing other artist's tracks, Skillz moved into production, taking inspiration from the sounds around him (mostly consisting of grime). Around the same time he began to write and record tracks for his own enjoyment, but it wasn’t until he noticed people reacting positively to what he had to say that he began to take MCing seriously.
Skillz soon realised that he could further develop his abilities as a rapper by shifting from the traditional UK sound of rap and creating his own unique sound. He soon began to weave clever wordplay and intelligent punchlines into his music, presenting a sound which is powerfully poetic and masterfully engaging.
With his latest release, Skillz delivers a poignant reminder of a generation of fatherless children often lost in modern day society. It's likely that from hearing 'Fatherless' you would class Multiple Skillz as a political rapper, but he has an adept ability to deliver his message without at any time sounding preachy or pretentious to the listener. Accompanied by an ingenuously simple black and white video, the single is an impressive prelude to a string of releases set to be delivered by Multiple Skillz over the coming months.
'Fatherless' will be available digitally from 27/10/11.

P.C.T: 'Bubbles Go Bang' [Video]

North London-based artist-producer Patrick Coleridge-Taylor, aka P.C.T, is about to change the face of UK urban music with his upcoming single ‘Bubbles Go Bang’. This club-orientated-yet-universal slice of futuristic sonic stimulation, which is a charismatically party-driven fusion of Hip-Hop and Electronic House (comparable to a musical cocktail consisting of one part Tinie Tempah, a dash of The Prodigy, a splash of Kanye West, a twist of Eminem and a shot of Daft Punk), is like nothing that you have heard before, in that it incorporates both a ‘secret’ production technique and a truly unique lyrical style which can only be described as being ‘genius’.

‘P’ has been bubbling on the underground whilst completing a BA Music Technology degree, but now that the finish line is finally in sight, he has decided to bring 2011 to a close by releasing the smash that is ‘Bubbles Go Bang’.

‘Bubbles Go Bang’ is sure to satisfy. Showcasing P’s lyrical prowess through one-of-a-kind pop culture references to everything from The Simpsons to ‘Bo Selecta (and gems such as “F*** a genie in a bottle, the devil in a jar with a scar under his eye at the bar is me!”), as well as an infectious ‘street slang’-elucidating chorus woven around a club-thumping beat, this track makes for a bona fide hit from the up-and-comer. This single sees P wax lyrical about individuality, making the most of life and appreciating women, amongst other things. The track, produced by P and accompanied by a video which P also directed, serves as a positive indication of what to expect from him in the new year (when he will be staking a claim for a place amongst the best in fresh UK urban talent).

P’s universal-yet-credible blend of Hip-Hop, Electro, Dance and Alternative transcends socio-cultural boundaries in a way that brings people from all walks of life together in celebration of the power of music. Thus it is just artistically-focused, accessible music that is about meaningful enjoyment and in this respect, it is loyal to the true spirit of Hip-Hop which was so essential to its growth during its formative years (making it a refreshing departure from the less-than-inspired norms which have become synonymous with contemporary mainstream Hip-Hop). In brief, P’s musical manifesto is; “To entertain and inspire in equal measure…”, and it is a certainty that after one listen to this track, you’ll agree that he most definitely has what it takes to do so.

P.C.T epitomizes the D.I.Y ethos that has become so prevalent within the ever-changing modern-day music industry, in that a genuine passion for his craft drives this multi-talented multimedia entrepreneur to write and produce his songs, direct and edit his music videos and independently release material through his self-run independent record label Danger Money Records all of his own accord (whilst funding the whole process out of his own pocket). That said, with the continued growth of the UK urban-pop market, the time has come for it’s next star to burst onto the scene… P.C.T please proceed to the stage.

‘Bubbles Go Bang’ will be released on Danger Money Records on 21st November 2011. As P.C.T’s story unfolds we are more than happy for you to become a part of it by supporting him and his work in any way possible. Interview / editorial / appearance requests are welcomed.

Rax - ’11 Till Infinity -Video

Introducing the latest face of original hip hop in the UK - 20 year old London based rapper Rax. This creative up and coming wordsmith is on the verge of establishing himself as one of Britain's most prominent musical stars, with a 6-month plan titled The Black Crook Project kicking into action at Midnight on Sunday, 2nd October. Based around Charles M. Barras' 1866 musical 'The Black Crook', the project will see Rax release 1 new video every 2 weeks for 6 months.

Rax honed his microphone skills from the age of 15, before signing with fast rising musical enterprise Clear Cut Entertainment / Audio Surveillance Records. The charismatic emcee then released his first solo long player titled 'The Auditions' in 2009. The mixtape went on to receive over 1000 downloads within the first few days of its release, with hard copies of the project proving equally as popular on the streets of London. Rax then released several viral videos (including his unforgettable 'I Wanna Rock' remix which clocked up over 30,000 views on YouTube), before putting plans in motion for his most ambitious project to date - #TBCP.

The first video from The Black Crook Project features Rax rhyming effortlessly over Souls Of Mischief’s '93 Till Infinity instrumental - the perfect introduction to what you can expect to see from this undeniably gifted emcee over the coming months. Unlike most freestyles which borrow famous beats for their backdrop, Rax makes the track his own and undoubtedly presents his own take on this classic piece of Hip Hop history. The video sees Rax performing in a variety of locations including the AUSV studio and the streets of Shoreditch, with casual behind the scenes shots incorporated throughout.

Introducing Zuby - Stay in my Lane

“Zuby captures that rare atmosphere spurned so well by the old-school hip-hop masters, but rarely since. His vocal is assured, steady and never overly indulgent, plus tonally very satisfying. Impressive stuff.”
Dan Kinasz - Your Army

“Really enjoying the video and track - you've got some impressive styles going on there”
Laura May Coope - BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra

BRITISH BORN, SAUDI ARABIA-BRED AND OXFORD UNIVERSITY EDUCATED RAPPER ZUBY RETURNS WITH HIS BIGGEST RELEASE TO DATE - AN EXCITING DUBSTEP / HIP HOP SYNERGY TITLED 'STAY IN MY LANE'.

Zuby burst onto the hip hop scene in 2006 with the aptly titled ‘Commercial Underground’. Armed with nothing more than a backpack full of CDs and a bucket load of confidence, he personally sold over 3,000 copies of the album on the streets of Oxford, London, Bournemouth and Southampton.
The industry also took note - the video for ‘Steppin’ 2 Me’ was playlisted on Channel U (now AKA) and UKHH.com affirmed ‘we could be looking at something big in the making.’ Zuby’s growing following and penchant for self-promotion led to him being ranked as the #1 musician in the Oxford Student newspaper’s ‘50 Most Influential People in Oxford’.
Since graduating, Zuby has raised his profile further - setting up his own label Courtesy Of Myself Entertainment and expanding his loyal fan base via savvy street promotion, live performances and a strong online presence (over 400,000 plays on Myspace, 200,000 views on YouTube and 3,000 fans on Facebook). To date, he has sold over 6,000 albums independently and hundreds of his infamous ‘I’m Down With Zuby, Are You?’ T-shirts. He has performed live all over England and as far as the USA, Germany and Saudi Arabia, with radio support including the likes of BBC and Choice FM.
Zuby's second album, ‘The Unknown Celebrity’ remains popular with his fans and spawned two music videos, 'The Same Ones' and 'Too Many'. This was followed up by ‘How I Feel: The EP’ in 2010 which was accompanied by the hilarious music video for ‘Rock Star’.
Zuby is currently preparing to release his third independent album 'Commercial Underground 2'. The first single 'Comin' At Ya' has already made waves online with the 'one-take' music video receiving over 25,000 views on YouTube after being featured on numerous blogs.
'Stay In My Lane' is the second single taken from the forthcoming album, and is best described as a pulsating, genre morphing bass-heavy beast of a track. Combining powerful production (courtesy of Anno Domini / Bella Cruize), dynamic hook lines (provided by American vocalist Marka) and charismatically invigorating verses from the star of the show (Zuby of course), the single finds it's comfort zone nestled perfectly between savvy wordplay and club friendly, electronic based production.
Accompanied by a simple yet brilliantly vibrant video, 'Stay In My Lane' is set to truly catapult this eclectic rapper from the depths of the underground to the eyes and ears of music fans across the UK, leaving just one question for the nation to answer - Are You Down With Zuby?
