London Singer/Songwriter Pete Walter launches unique DIY gig

The age of the 'DIY music industry' is firmly upon us with artists bypassing corporate structures and releasing their own material through the internet. However live music is almost the only area where the same old set up (especially for emerging artists) is still in place. Promoters in London often make it almost impossible for the artists to earn anything from those crucial early gigs. Singer/Songwriter Pete Walter has had enough. In the spirit of the new DIY music industry he is determined to bypass the promoters altogether by promoting his own gigs in unique & unusual venues.
Walter said, "London has an amazing wealth of live bands but some of the city's so-called 'promoters' are exploiting that wealth. Like gangster landlords they create terms & conditions hugely skewed in their own favour knowing that if they alienate bands off there will always be a queue of hungry new musicians ready to take their place."
Walter continued, "I thought if I can create special one-off gigs in interesting venues that don't usually host gigs I'll be more excited about it but more importantly so will my audience. My fanbase will be happier to know that their ticket money is going straight to the band and not into the pockets of the promoter."
The first of these gigs will take place in the unique surroundings of NYC loft style venue '4th Floor West' on Friday 24th June. This ain't the usual stinky rock venue. 4th Floor West has its own roof terrace and is ideal for a drink on a summer's evening. Walter plans to use video, live social media and performers from other artistic fields to make his event stand out
