20-year-old London based rapper Rax launches part 3 of the ‘The Black Crook Project’ with the release of a Halloween special titled ‘Gingerbread Man’. Based around Charles M. Barras' 1866 musical 'The Black Crook', Rax’s current project sees the unique wordsmith release 1 new video every 2 weeks for 6 months.
Rax honed his microphone skills from the age of 15, before signing with fast rising musical enterprise Clear Cut Entertainment / Audio Surveillance Records. The charismatic emcee then released his first solo long player titled 'The Auditions' in 2009. The mixtape went on to receive over 1000 downloads within the first few days of its release, with hard copies of the project proving equally as popular on the streets of London. Rax then released several viral videos (including his unforgettable 'I Wanna Rock' remix which clocked up over 30,000 views on YouTube), before putting plans in motion for his most ambitious project to date - #TBCP.
The first two videos from TBCP have clocked up 15,000 and 35,000 views on YouTube respectively, with expectations even higher for forthcoming releases.
The third video from the project, titled ‘Gingerbread Man’, is a Halloween special, which sees Rax deliver his signature wordplay over an intense string-led instrumental. Combining tongue in cheek punch lines with a contemporary yet accomplished delivery, Rax sits comfortably somewhere between authentic hip hop and commercially viable music, which is all capped off with a dose of refreshingly youthful exuberance. The audio is accompanied by a fantastically creative visual, which was co-directed by Rax himself.
