Irish rapper McGuire to release new single SuperNova

Irish McGuire new single SuperNova

Irish rapper McGuire to release new single SuperNova

Irish rapper, songwriter and performer, McGuire, prepares to unleash his powerful new single ‘SuperNova’, burning up dance floors with the heat of 10 billion suns much like its astrological namesake.

After catching the attention of US artist manager Hugh Hession, McGuire was flown to Atlanta, Georgia, where SuperNova was written in collaboration with Hession and DJ Freez (Lester Cromer) featuring fellow up-and-comer Joe Joe LeGras. This led to McGuire signing to their label, HCMG/Big Motion Music and Grammy award winner Ken Lewis (FUN, Kanye West, Usher, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys) being brought in alongside the renowned Brian “Big Bass” Gardner (Macklemore, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Beastie Boys, Snoop Dog) to work their magic on the mixing and mastering.

Atlanta, however, is a far cry from McGuire’s small seaside hometown of Skerries, on the outskirts of Dublin, Ireland. A corner of the globe perhaps not best known for its rap stars, but where a young Rob McGuire would spend countless hours in his room putting pen to pad and crafting his unique flow, inspired by the hip hop legends stateside. “When I was growing up, Skerries was very much indie rock influenced” explains McGuire, “I loved all that, but I started to get my edge musically when I was turned on to Coolio, Cypress Hill and Eminem”.

SuperNova is set to send a shockwave through the music industry and illuminate Ireland’s latest offering to the musical hall of fame on May 12th, with an EP to follow in June.

Terrorsum releases From The Soul

Terrorsum

Terrorsum releases From The Soul

UK Rapper, Terrorsum has now released the latest and final visual of his current artistic career under the alias; Terrorsum. The track, produced by Yello Man brings back the core elements of Hip-Hop and asks the question, "Where's the message gone?".

'From The Soul' explores the boundaries of not only Hip-Hop but music as a whole; the way music has been commercialised and manufactured to sometimes wrongly influence it's listeners with a less than meaningful message and motive. The track includes everything that real Hip-Hop should entail from a powerful instrumental, conscious lyricism and a DJ-sampled chorus. 'From The Soul' is a track aimed at a portion of the industry who in discussion have brought up the topic; "Where have the real MC's gone?!"

The controversial visual shows Terrorsum trapped within a young fan's room surrounded by images of musically manufactured products. It portrays the fragile minds and young fans in which these products are commonly targeted at; by the symbolisation of soft toys and pre-teen items. We also see a Hip-Hop fan and a young girl become victims of 'commercial brainwash' by the means of force and choice, showing that fans can be manipulated musically in different ways be it peer pressure, product placement or by the often outspoken media.

'From The Soul' signifies the end of Terrorsum, the artist, it also symbolises a musical transition for Christian King that promises exciting material to be released in the foreseeable future.

'From The Soul' is a free download to show thanks to fans who have supported Terrorsum's music throughout his career.

Jones 2.0

MusicMafia presents Jones 2.0

As of yet, Jones 2.0 may not be a name you are familiar with, but as part of the independent urban UK scene, the 22 year-old rapper will certainly be hot on people’s lips by the end of 2013. The young musician has spent the last six months playing gigs such as the ‘Live and Unsigned’ finals infront of a 10,000 capacity crowd, as well as The Comedy Pub Leicester Square, Vibe Bar Brick Lane, Beck Theatre Hayes and Berties Bar Wimbledon, as he continuously works hard to perfect his live show performances.

I’m not trying to make it big off of a certain gimmick. I’m just trying to be me and make the music I’d like to make,” says Jones, as he tries to stay away from the cliche rapper tag. Taking his inspiration from the likes of Kid Cudi, it is the rappers unique and engaging lyrics and honest view on life that sets him out from the other unsigned rappers out there.

Bright Lights’ is the first official release by Jones 2.0, and sees him present a hard-hitting piece of rap music. To accompany the release, the talented MC now presents the incredible visual for his debut single, taking viewers through the Bright Lights of London city.

Jones 2.0 is currently working on various new projects which are set for release later this year, so keep your eyes peeled.

The Explorer’s Collective featurig Dray release new single Glass Ceilings

The Explorer’s Collective

The Explorer’s Collective featurig Dray release new single Glass Ceilings

Explorer’s Collective combine with up and coming UK rapper Dray  (having worked with the likes of Peter Andre, Labrinth, Ironik and Starboy Nathan) for this genre-stretching slice of hard-hitting pop.

Dray’s perfectly crisp and deceptively benign flow contrasts with, yet wraps nicely around the totalitarian chorus chant of “Work till you’re 85, shop till you drop dead”, capturing the essence of the credit-crunched UK summer of austerity. Having been aptly likened to “Jay-Z meets Mumford and Sons”, ‘Glass Ceilings’ is as lyrically poignant as it is playful.

The brilliant animated video comes courtesy of the award-winning Total Thrive Productions, and offers a well-executed visual narration of Glass Ceiling’s anthemic lyrics, with a wryly humorous twist.

Based in the musical hinterlands of South-East London, The Explorer’s Collective grew out of the songwriting partnership of long time friends Mark Cartmell and Frazer W. Davidson. After a decade spent behind desks, and in front of microphones, Mark and Frazer began searching for a way to express their creative spirit, and started writing songs together.

As a way of getting their songs heard, and in an attempt to break into the music business, they hit upon the idea of The Explorer’s Collective: ‘Explorer’ after Mark’s fortune was told by a Moroccan fakir in a fez, who claimed exploring music was his future path to happiness; and ‘Collective’ because it brings to mind limitless artistic possibilities. Enrolling the help of good friend and multi instrumentalist, Pablo Paganotto, The Explorer’s Collective was born in late 2009 with three permanent members, and a mission to collaborate with the most interesting and talented artists they could find. This, their debut single ‘Glass Ceilings’ featuring Dray, marks the start of numerous collaborative tracks to come, each infused with the consideration, musicality and experimentation that make The Explorer’s Collective a pop force to be reckoned with.

Glass Ceilings to be released in the UK on: 1st October 2012

Franklyn releases Jasmine

Franklyn

Franklyn releases Jasmine

Haven given his supporters "Hometown Glory" ft. Brewer and a video to "William Wordsworth", the London based Franklyn Music is back with another impromptu release. Covering Jai Paul's "Jasmine", the thoughtful and creative lyricism from Franklyn in addition to Jai Paul's soothing falsetto creates a beautiful piece of music.

This strikingly honest freestyle hears him rapping about his ambitions, his personal struggles and his consequent inconsistency with music: "It's far from something fun when you gotta contend with stresses and hard to eb number one when you're constantly second guessing."

At only 18, Franklyn's honest and reflective approach to rap is an exciting deviation from the pretentious facades saturating the industry. His thoughtful lyricism boasts of being far more relevant to real life than his rap counterparts. With comparisons to the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Wretch 32, Franklyn is gaining more support and the anticipation for his new mixtape "Just Being Frank 2" is building steadily. The mixtape is slated for release mid-summer, with several freestyles and videos dropping between now and then.

RD returns with his brand new smash single Chasing Elizabeth

21 year old rapper RD returns to the scene with his brand new smash single titled 'Chasing Elizabeth'.
Born and raised in Barking (London, UK), RD took his first steps into the grime scene at just 13, performing at youth clubs and pirate stations from Dagenham to Hackney with his cousins S-Kid and Haystee. In 2006 RD met East London MC Jammin, and the pair went on to form UK collective Conspiracy Theory alongside fellow artist Imz. The collective then went on to become Nationality, and it was around this time that RD decided to take a step away from the industry to further craft his sound away from the limelight.
Fast forward to 2011, and RD is now set to return to the forefront of the scene with his brand new single titled 'Chasing Elizabeth'. The track sees RD outline his mission in life to chase the Queens Head (money) over a fidgety, synth led instrumental. Despite his young age, RD relies on his experience to craft an assertively strong flow whilst delivering some pleasingly epigrammatic punchlines for good measure.
