The High Wire release video LNOE starring Ray Winstone

The High Wire video LNOE Ray Winstone

The High Wire release video LNOE starring Ray Winstone

The High Wire share the video for ‘LNOE’, the lead track from their new album ‘Found In Honey’, due 14th July.

The cinematic video stars Ray Winstone and was directed by Mat Whitecross (Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll, Spike Island). Set to the backdrop of Whitecross' contemporary film noir, ‘Ashes’, it provides a striking visual for the moving track. Watch it here.

‘LNOE’ (out 30th June) purposefully steps the band away from the shoegaze fuzz of their previous albums – 2010’s ‘The Sleep Tape’ and 2008’s ‘Ahead of the Rain’. It boasts clear, honest production with layered strings, creating an emotive and driven offering from the London-based trio.

‘Found In Honey’ was produced by The High Wire, Andy Rugg and Rik Simpson (PJ Harvey, Portishead) and was recorded at Coldplay’s Beehive Studio in London. While R&B, psychedelia, shoegaze and folk can all be heard on the record - it’s the pop influences that resonate loudest, with key nods to 60s Motown, New Order, Soul II Soul and Gorillaz.

The High Wire began as a solo vehicle for singer/songwriter Tim Crompton. Soon after the completion of ‘Ahead of the Rain’ in 2008, the line up expanded and now counts west coast Canadian Alexia Hagen and UK native Ross Forrest as core members alongside Crompton.

MusicMafia presents upcoming artist Megan Wade

Megan Wade

MusicMafia presents upcoming artist Megan Wade

Shania Twain and Taylor Swift are two role models for upcoming country artists. The way they represent themselves on stage and put their energies into the act is something inspirational for these young artists. The successful careers of these highly talented and gorgeous beauties attract youngsters towards them and they wish to make it big like they did.

Megan started to sing and write her songs at quite a young age. At the age of sixteen when she had a chance of singing before a bunch of people, she found out that singing is her career. From there on she started to sing in front of people instead of singing in her bedroom. Shania Twain and Taylor Swift are the ones she gets inspiration from. Along with her likeliness about the efforts, energy, and way of representation of these country music experts, she loves the honest opinion that they have. She talks about Taylor Swifts, “I was 13 when she came onto the scene so watching her has been pretty cool just to see her doing what she is doing because she writes from an honest perspective and she doesn’t, like, limit herself to what she writes about and she. Her writing is so honest and I think that’s kind of influence my writingMegan told Tickets Move. She praises Shania by saying, “she is just an amazing performer and she just brings everything she has to stage and I think that is definitely a kind of influence on how I am trying to learn to connect with audiences when I play.” She furthermore explains that stories, characters, and scenes in her songs are from real world. She does not make them up. She takes them from her experiences and puts into her songs.

This young country artist has a soul made for music. She is dedicated, hardworking, honest, and young and beautiful with a great voice. If you are a country music lover, you got to listen her as she has all the country flair in her songs.

Dolomite Minor - UK tour and video

Dolomite Minor - UK tour and video

Dolomite Minor - UK tour and video

Here are two guys who can manage enough noise that you can’t help but notice them, Joe Grimshaw on guitar and vocals, Max Palmier on Drums. Southampton’s Dolomite Minor serve up sleazy, raw rock’n’roll laced with sweaty, head banging, tobacco stained riffs.

In the last few months, Dolomite Minor have gone from playing small venues around their hometown, to playing some of this summer's major UK festivals (including Reading, Leeds and T in the Park) solely based on the strength of their live shows.

New bands of this knockout calibre come around very rarely, already they can shred at a level that puts more veteran bands to shame.

Or check out the track 'Let Me Go': https://soundcloud.com/dolomiteminor/let-me-go-2

Helene Greenwood releases Spindrift Road official video

To mark the release of her debut album, Helene Greenwood will be giving away her new single, ‘Spindrift Road’ as a free download, available from her website on October 28 – the day her album, ‘Collectable You’  is also released.

With its experimental instrumentation, echoing the Rain Dogs-era of Tom Waits – the result of Helene going for a 60’s influenced sound with Jazz overtones, ‘Spindrift Road’ resonates with an intriguing amount of musical obscurity, from the melodic soft fuzzed vocals to dynamic arrangements that carry the track like a well written story.

The video follows this story-like abstraction, using clever imagery of all things shrouded in bewilderment and mystery, utilising clips of gambling, tarot cards and circus attractions to make the perfect compliment to the song’s unique sound.

I want to take people on a journey with my music and make them visit places they wouldn’t normally expect to go,” says North London’s Helene.

‘Spindrift Road’ is the second single to be taken from Helene’s album “Collectable You”, released 28 October. Calum MacColl takes the role as producer while also playing on the album, accompanied by world roots drummer Martyn Barker (Billy Bragg/Beth Gibbons), James Hallawell (The Waterboys) on keyboards and the atmospheric bass playing of Arnulf Lindler (KT Tunstall).

I cannot wait for people to hear my message and music/ It’s been a long time coming.”

Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and Lil Twist’s “Twerk” Single Leaked

Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and Lil Twist’s “Twerk” Single Leaked

It’s clear that twerking isn’t going away. Miley Cyrus is infamous for loving this particular dance craze, and now it looks like a new “twerk anthem” has leaked featuring Miley, Justin Bieber and Lil Twist

As reported this week, the new track titled “Twerk” was unofficially leaked this morning, yet it was confirmed in July that Justin Bieber and Lil Twist were working on a duet together. Could this be the song we’ve been waiting for? The song kicks off with the “We Can’t Stop” star singing a short chorus about rolling up to a party and how it’s time to twerk. In the past few months we’ve seen Miley become sort of an impromptu “queen” of twerking, and whenever she has the chance to shake her cakes, she gives it all she’s got.  So this song is long overdue.

Even though the single was leaked this morning, it isn’t a surprise to many that this  collaboration took place. As reported back in June Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber were spotted at a L.A. dance club grinding and having casual conversation. One could only speculate whether or not the idea for the collaboration was initially discussed earlier this summer.

Now that the single has leaked, hopefully we’ll have an official video right around the corner. Knowing the wild creativity of Miley, Justin and Lil Twist you can probably expect the video to be just as wild, if not even crazier.

New Single from Grunge/Alt-Rock Trio, Blind Wives

New Single from Grunge/Alt-Rock Trio, Blind Wives

New Single from Grunge/Alt-Rock Trio, Blind Wives

Release no. 2 from Blind Wives comes in the form of Spall, a 3 track single with bite, huge dynamics, catchy riffs and vocal hooks. We believe this release sets the bar high for this new band and will define their sound and songwriting style for the future.

Blind Wives take a real DIY attitude to everything they do. Their debut EP and this single were recorded, mixed and produced by the band but this time, TJ Lipple added his touches at the mastering stage. Continuing that DIY ethos, for this release Blind Wives produced their own video which was filmed on an old VHS camcorder as they wanted a natural, gritty look to the video. As with the production of the record, Blind Wives storyboarded, filmed and edited this video themselves.

Blind Wives' grunge approach to alt rock sees them take influences from Queens of the Stone Age, Reuben, Torche, Biffy Clyro and Kerbdog. While their hard work and energetic live show has so far seen them support notable acts Axis Of, Shapes, Paws, Hold Your Horse Is, Alpha Male Tea Party and Crusades

Levellers unveil new video for Raft Of The Medusa, plus full UK winter tour details

Levellers have released the next instalment of their project to record a video for every track from their recently released album, Static On The Airwaves.

Filmed at the 10th Anniversary of Levellers' own Beautiful Days Festival in August this year, Raft Of The Medusa is a jagged, foot-stomping barnstormer in the sea-shanty tradition.

It re-tells the true story of the aftermath of the running aground of French Naval frigate, the Méduse, as immortalised by the Théodore Géricault’s great romanticist painting of the same name.

At least 147 people were set adrift on a hurriedly constructed raft; all but 15 died in the 13 days before their rescue, and those who survived endured starvation, dehydration, cannibalism and madness.

Levellers embark on a major UK tour in November 2012. Dates are below.

Yani Simone releases the video for After Hours

Yani Simone

Yani Simone releases the video for After Hours

Chicago based pop artist Yani Simone releases the highly anticipated visual for her breakthrough hit, “After Hours,” featuring vocals from upcoming Asian rapper, Vickz.

Currently living in Chicago, Yani Simone is living out her childhood fantasies, having grown up listening to, and taking influence from, many diverse artists including the likes Beyonce, Rihanna, Pink and Nicki Minaj. Her music is upfront and honest, amalgamating a perfect touch of pop, and a sharp blend of rhythm and  blues. “My lyrics and music are a direct reflection of my life’s experiences or those of my friends or people I’ve observed," she says, "My dad always said to be a great songwriter or vocalist, you have to go through some things, and people have to feel you when you sing. Now that I’m older, having been in and out of relationships, I get what he was saying.”

'After Hours', which is produced by Chicago's IKON and engineered by Grammy Award winning engineer Mike Wilson at Atlanta’s iconic Patchwerk recording studio, is Yani's latest single, and is best described as a pop friendly, dance inspired track with polished, thumping production and effortlessly catchy vocals. The visual for the single takes the audience back to the old French Quarter in New Orleans, where unsuspecting, well-heeled guests arrive for an evening of fun and frivolity, only to find out that they’re the main course.

Yani has recently signed to the fledgling US based management company Outliers Music Group, and if the 'After Hours' single and music video are anything to go by, she is set for a big future both in the US and internationally in 2012.

Parv releases official video See My Smile

Parv

Parv releases official video See My Smile

Parv follows up last month's release of his critically acclaimed mixtape 'IDKWTCTM Vol 1' with the official video for his latest anthem, 'See My Smile'.

Born and raised in Portsmouth, UK, Parv spent a majority of his teenage years honing his skills as a rapper, singer, producer and all round musical mogul. In 2010 he signed to budding hip hop label 'De Facto Entertainment' - a deal which gave the young artist his first step up into the international music scene. During his time with 'De Facto' he recorded diligently with label CEO and record producer Stealf, and is due to feature on the forthcoming 'I Am Stealf' LP alongside the likes of Jadakiss, Joell Ortiz and H.O.O.D Fellaz.

Having now left the label, Parv is set on his own independent path to create the music he truly loves writing. At a time when every man and his dog claim to merge and amalgamate genres, Parv really does it. And he does it well.

'See My Smile' is the latest self produced cut from the South Coast rapper, and is a simple yet astonishingly effective head turner. With outstanding support from the international blogosphere, growing love from radio (just last night - 28/05/12 - Parv appeared on BBC Radio 1) and a refreshingly pure attitude to his music, Parv isn't just one to watch in 2012, he's one that you will find it simply impossible to ignore.

“ Their debut Everything Breaks EP screams Crystal Castles with a haunting screech and industrial percussion. So to say we’re excited is an understatement.” Crack Magazine

Electronic London duo SEVERIN release their debut EP “Everything Breaks” on Tip Top Recordings March 19 2012. Danny Sanchez (beats / guitar / electronics) and Elizabeth Anne Martin (bass / synths / vocals) have recorded the EP with producer Rory Attwell (Test Icicles / Yuck).

Following a wave of blog hype and John Kennedy making the band his XFM X-posure hot-one, Severin's four-track debut is a blast of urgent, addictive noise on the first singles High Shot and Macabea before hypnotic late-night darkness takes over on Light//Water and 0806. This thunderous duo pull off a pop take on glitchy, shuddering electronica constructed with addictive guitar lines and grinding industrial beats to create an unconscious swaying groove for Martin’s haunting vocals to cut through.

Wet Nuns new video and one of NME tips for 2012

Wet Nuns new video and one of NME tips for 2012

Death-blues punk red-necks from the deep South (of Yorkshire), WET NUNS unveiled their new single ‘Heavens Below’ at the end of 2011, available exclusively from their website www.wetnuns.com along with a remix of the track by the Arctic Monkeys' Matt Helders.
The band have since been named one of NME’s “20 Bands To Look Out For in 2012”, played for ATP and supported supergroup Mister Heavenly and are lining up a March tour to be announced VERY soon.

The two-piece have also just released a video for the recent single, and we can now rejoice that there is a video to match the hollering, crushing, blues-riffing marvel of  a track that is ‘Heaven’s Below’. Created by director Darren Topliss, the video features motorbikes, pigs heads, crocodiles, macabre figures, and is typical of the band everyone's trying to see right now. The anticipation around the band even led the footage to be the most shared music video on NME.com on the day of release.

Both the single and remix of 'Heaven's Below' are still available for free exclusively from the Wet Nuns website, www.wetnuns.com.

Hailing from Zurich & Munich, the 'girls of BOY' laid down their new material in their producer's childhood nursery-turned-studio (who knew?!) with drumming duties from their sticksman friend, of French alt dudes Phoenix....there's shades of Feist in several of the tracks (minus previous risque Peaches adventures) which actually stand up more than favourably to the comparison..

Ahead of the album release (April 2012), we wanted to share the spine-tingly 'Skin' video with you, which features on the 'Acoustic Sessions' EP, out at the end of Jan

Project Alfie - Beggin

Project Alfie - Beggin

Introducing ‘Beggin’, the new release by Project Alfie.  Project Alfie’s new track Beggin’ effortlessly emits the cool, distinguishable style and sound that is quickly becoming synonymous with the soul and hip-hop crossover artist.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3WjskRaVVg

The epic, emotionally wrought track was released on the Universal Compilation R&B Collection 2012, which marked Project Alfie as the only unsigned act to be featured on the album. Following its release, it became the most downloaded track on the album during its first week on iTunes.

The video for Beggin has since been filmed, and is artistically cohesive with the idiosyncratic image created by Project Alfie. It has been directed by the renowned Paul Gardner of JJ Stereo, whose work includes videos for Kasabian, Plan B and Mr. Hudson. The video smoothly incorporates much of the style that is naturally radiated by the soul singer.

Set in London, the video for Beggin follows the captivating star through busy streets, voyeuristically capturing the essence of the distinctive Project Alfie. His star quality is obvious from the instant the video begins to play, and the story of Beggin begins to unfold. The direction of the video beautifully entwines with the lyrics of the song and heart of the melody, combining to create a complete and succinct work of art.

Since the release of Beggin and the rest of The Project Alfie Mixtape, Alfie has since been invited to New York by The Hitmen (Jay-Z, Nas, Mary J Blige, Notorious BIG).  What began as an ambitious project, has quickly and elegantly transformed into a beautifully finished and theatrically stylised act that makes Project Alfie one to watch for 2012.

RD returns with his brand new smash single 'Chasing Elizabeth'.

RD returns with his brand new smash single Chasing Elizabeth

21 year old rapper RD returns to the scene with his brand new smash single titled 'Chasing Elizabeth'.
Born and raised in Barking (London, UK), RD took his first steps into the grime scene at just 13, performing at youth clubs and pirate stations from Dagenham to Hackney with his cousins S-Kid and Haystee. In 2006 RD met East London MC Jammin, and the pair went on to form UK collective Conspiracy Theory alongside fellow artist Imz. The collective then went on to become Nationality, and it was around this time that RD decided to take a step away from the industry to further craft his sound away from the limelight.
Fast forward to 2011, and RD is now set to return to the forefront of the scene with his brand new single titled 'Chasing Elizabeth'. The track sees RD outline his mission in life to chase the Queens Head (money) over a fidgety, synth led instrumental. Despite his young age, RD relies on his experience to craft an assertively strong flow whilst delivering some pleasingly epigrammatic punchlines for good measure.
