Rupert Stroud releases single ALWAYS for charity
New Album Chasing The Night out now AND Charity Single ‘Always’ for Alzheimer’s Research UK on Xidus Music
Singer/songwriter Rupert Stroud’s new album Chasing The Night, produced by Will Jackson (The Kaiser Chiefs, Embrace, The Cribs and The Music) offers impressive, beat driven arrangements that are dynamic, inventive and at times sweetly intimate.
The lyrics on this semi autobiographical record are emotive and thought provoking while Stroud’s vocals are captivating, compelling and dextrous, drawing comparisons to Tim Booth, Richard Ashcroft and Jim Morrison. The album ambitiously ranges from blues to grunge and, although he is singer/songwriter by definition, the sound is full and rock n roll.
Rupert and his band (drums Mick Bedford; keys and guitar Mike Pearson) are playing the gig circuit with Chasing the Night and it is receiving a great deal of attention. The band have done several live lounge appearances and radio interviews with BBC DJs. They played Live at Leeds earlier this year where he was dubbed as one of Yorkshire’s hottest young acts. He is also playing Galtres Festival this August among an incredible line up including Ash, Buzzcocks and Adam Ant.
Rupert has also released a charity single entitled Always to boost funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to this UK’s leading dementia research charity. It’s a tribute to Rupert’s grandma Eileen who died, aged 87, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease:
“My grandma was one of the sweetest souls you could ever meet –I got my love of music and rhythm from her. But for the last few years of her life she needed 24-hour care. She didn’t recognise any of us and couldn’t speak – it was heartbreaking. Writing music and performing live is my passion and having this positive focus makes it so worthwhile. It’s young people like me who’ll reap the benefits of today’s pioneering research.”
