Lindsey Stirling is returning to the UK, after her last London show back in January sold out in less than a day! She’ll be bringing her very unique brand of classical violin meets Dub-Step, meets the sci-fi fantasy to the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Tuesday 28th May 2013 for her only UK show in the upcoming European tour. Known as the Dub-Step Violinist,Lindsey Stirling has experienced a meteoric rise over the past couple of years, attracting over 2 million YouTube channel subscribers so far. One of her videos, Crystallize has notched up over 54 million views in just over a year and her total YouTube channel views to date are nearly 300 million, proving that everybody is keeping a close eye on her!
Lindsey Stirling truly is product of the cyber generation, having tried every conceivable approach for traditional media promotion, including‘America’s Got Talent’ where she was a finalist in 2010 and received a short spell of media attention. However, when nothing further came from this and major labels found it hard to pigeonhole her in to a marketable entity, Lindsey decided to take matters in to her own hands. Over the past couple of years she has built her career up around social media and the internet which has given her an extreme amount of independence over how to progress her creative talent and has resulted in her, sometimes bizarre, but always entertaining and engrossing performances and videos!
Lindsey Stirling is perhaps the first, and only, artist in the world to blend classical violin, modern dance, and…The Legend of Zelda. Lindsey composes, choreographs and directs all of her original music and videos, which merge unique violin stylings and electronic dub-step beats with animated contemporary dance often based around or adapted from popular video games or fantasy series’. Her videos have seen her cover and pay homage to some of the biggest cult franchises including; Skyrim, Lord of the Rings as well as an epic medley of the sound track to The Legend of Zelda. In this age of internet mash-ups Lindsey has put her own personal spin on this growing trend to carve out a big space for her ambitious orchestral adventures, with beat-boxing hip-hop under beats, that are packaged up in brilliant storytelling video’s which showcase her violin skills and passion for modern dance.
“My musical style is a reflection of my personality,” Lindsey shares, “and through it I hope to share my belief that no one should be afraid to be themselves.” She adds “All my songs were created to depict specific themes that I pulled from my own life experiences. ‘Spontaneous Me’ is about having the courage to love yourself for who you are.”
Lindsey will be making her only UK performance at London’s O2 Shepherds Bush Empire on Tuesday 28th May, tickets are currently on sale via: http://www.aeglive.co.uk/artists/lindsey-stirling.
