Liverpool Sound City is delighted to announce that its American edition, New York Sound City, will take place on 17 March at the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The third New York Sound City conference is set to feature a daytime programme that focuses on themes such as “Grime: Ten Years Later”, “What Brands Want” and a roundtable discussion between industry representatives and delegates. Confirmed speakers include English rapper and all-round Grime veteran Skepta, esteemed journalist Hattie Collins and directors from leading music and lifestyle agencies, Cornerstone and Frukt - who, between them, work with leading brands such as Converse, Bushmills Coca Cola, Southern Comfort, and Diesel.

Hot on the heels of SXSW, the festival offers an exciting networking opportunity for the industry, both companies and artists, in one of the most exciting cities in the world.

Said David Pichilingi, CEO of Sound City: “New York Sound City is an extremely exciting extension to the Sound City brand and this year it’s better than ever. We have a great panel of speakers confirmed and will be announcing the full line-up very soon.”

Following the conference will be a live showcase that evening at Brooklyn venue, The Knitting Factory. The full line-up will be announced in the coming weeks, but the festival has confirmed that it is saving one spot for an up-and-coming UK or US artist. Artists have until Friday 31 January to apply by submitting a link to their music. Full details are on the website.

Dave continued: “Being part of New York Sound City really is an unparalleled opportunity to get in front of key players in music industry – you’d be performing to an audience that includes heads of labels, publishers, agents, promoter, managers and, of course, potential fans – all in Brooklyn’s coolest venue, the Knitting Factory. Previous performers have included The Enemy, Reverend and the Makers and Wet Nuns, so the winning artist will definitely be in good company.”
