Sky Valley Mistress release New EP Rival, Hounds and Rebel Sisters

After a hugely successful year of touring, including an appearance at last year’s Download Festival and release of their acclaimed debut EP, ‘the best thing you’ve never heard,’Sky Valley Mistress, are now releasing their new EP, ‘Rivals, Hounds and Rebel Sisters’.

‘Rivals, Hounds and Rebel Sisters’ is a short but direct 3 track EP that is filled with riffs, hooks and more riffs. Combined with vocals that ooze sultry sophistication and a thunderous rhythm section, this is a record from a band that has found their sound and is ready for the world to hear it. Set for release 15th December, the record comes both as a digital download and 6 panel digipak CD that can be pre ordered from their Bandcamp page: https://skyvalleymistress.bandcamp.com/album/rivals-hounds-rebel-sisters

With clear influences from legendary rock and roll bands such as Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, the band have applied this classic, mature craftsmanship to their songs with a powerful and assertive edge, giving them a refreshingly familiar sound.

Along with the release of their EP, the band have also released a music video for the lead single, ‘Smoke Fairy’, featuring a masked teenage gang of rebels taking their new member on a journey of initiation, on the back of their pickup truck.

Skillet Release new single Not Gonna Die

Skillet new single Not Gonna Die

Skillet Release new single Not Gonna Die

Two-time Grammy nominated rock band SKILLET release a new single on June 30th to coincide with the band making their Download Festival debut on Sunday June 15th.

‘Not Gonna Die’ is the second single from Skillet’s new album Rise.

Rise also features the previous single ‘Sick Of It” and follows the band's 2009 blockbuster, Awake, which was certified platinum for sales in excess of one million copies in the U.S. It’s worth noting that Skillet was the only active rock band to achieve platinum certification last year, and one of only three rock bands (the other two being Mumford and Sons and the Black Keys) to strike platinum that year.

The band maintains momentum with Rise, a gripping coming-of-age narrative that stands as their first concept album—though lead singer/bassist John Cooper says it wasn’t premeditated. The album tells the story of a typical American teen coming into adulthood and trying to figure out who he is in a world riddled with problems both within and outside his control.

“The narrative idea happened after we had 10 or 11 of the songs chosen,” he says. “As we recorded them, we started to realize that there was something going on—that the album was really telling a story. Realizing that, I knew we needed to make it as powerful as we could.”

The result is a wildly ambitious work as heady as it is visceral. Sonically, the disc sees the band expanding their musical palette, integrating natural, acoustic instruments like accordion, mandolin, dulcimer, harp, tympani and bells to their trademark slashing electric guitars, strings, churning synths and pummeling drums.

Skillet (Cooper, guitarist/keyboardist Korey Cooper, drummer/vocalist Jen Ledger and guitarist Seth Morrison) recorded the album in Los Angeles, where they re-teamed with producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, All American Rejects), who helmed Awake.

Awake debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's Top 200 Album Chart and No. 1 on the magazine's Top Modern Rock/Alternative Albums Chart. In addition, the record hit No. 1 on iTunes' Top Album Chart, garnered 3 Billboard Music Awards and spawned four hit singles including the No. 1 Active Rock smash and gold-certified “Awake & Alive,” the gold-certified "Hero," "It's Not Me It's You" and the platinum-certified "Monster." "Monster" lived up to its name, selling more than a million copies and hitting Top 5 at Active Rock radio (the first in a string of multiple Top 5 active rock hits), while its companion video has generated over 47 million YouTube views. Skillet over the course of the past few years have sold more than two million units in the U.S. alone, racked up more than 150 million YouTube views and amassed a diehard following (dubbed Panheads) whose members number in the millions. Skillet are now set to conquer the UK.

This is the bands fourth consecutive year of playing at Download, something that is pretty much unheard of.

Band member Adam Vygus comments on the news: "I can't believe we are playing again for the fourth year in a row. It's still the best feeling ever, just as good as the first time we were announced. We are so excited and proud to be playing such a prestigious festival."

Hailing from Birmingham this quartet have never quit in their pursuit to get their music out there.

2011 saw them beat thousands of applicants in the esteemed Red Bull Bedroom Jam competition leading to an impressive run of UK festival dates. Early 2013 saw the release of the pop rockers hotly anticipated debut album 'All That Changes Stays The Same', which was funded by the band's avid fan base through PledgeMusic. They then went on a headline run of the UK and ended last year by playing at Vans Warped Tour UK at Alexandra Palace.

2014 will see some new music from the quintet along with more great announcements in the next few months.

To coincide with the announcement the band have released single 'Growing Pains' as a free download. The single is taken from the bands debut album 'All That Changes, Stays The Same' which is available now.

Fahran to play Download Festival and Bloodstock Open Air

Energetic young melodic hard rock upstarts FAHRAN have confirmed they are gearing up for appearances at two of the UK’s most prestigious rock and metal festivals this summer: Download Festival and Bloodstock Open Air.

As well as appearing on Download Festival’s Jägermeister stage on Saturday 15th June, the Derby-based five-piece are honored to have been awarded the headline slot on the influential New Blood stage at Bloodstock Open Air on Friday 9th August.

Lead guitarist Jake Graham comments:

“Being confirmed for both festivals in the same year is just amazing, it’s still taking time to sink in! We all can't wait to get out there and show the crowd Fahran's live show, especially when we headline the New Blood stage at BOA.”

The news comes after a busy year for FAHRAN during which they have released self-titled debut album ‘FAHRAN’ after just six months of the band being formed to critical acclaim from rock press worldwide.  Their impressive debut offering won them tour supports with UK rock troubadours Heaven’s Basement and ex-Dragonforce vocalist ZP Theart’s new project I AM I, as well as a prolific slot at BT London Live in Hyde Park as part of the London 2012 celebrations.

The band are currently in the studio writing and recording their second album and look forward to headlining the Fethiye Rocks Festival in Turkey at the end of May before returning to their native UK to continue their summer of festival appearances.

To mark the occasion, the band are offering fans the chance to win a pair VIP day tickets to Download Festival on Saturday 15th June.

“We want to give something back to all the great people who have supported us this year, and what better way than to offer fans the chance to come and join in the fun with us at Download this year?” explains Fahran guitarist Chris Byrne.

Hounds release new EP and play Download Festival this June

Hounds

Hounds release new EP The Wicked and play Download Festival this June

“Top tunes, Fan The Flames being one of my favourites, big up!”
Liam Howlett (The Prodigy)

“A Molotov cocktail of dirty rock, sneering vocals and pulsing electro dance beats”
Big Cheese Magazine

“We need more bands like this!”
James Rushent (Does It Offend You, Yeah?)

Hailing from Essex, UK, and already gaining a huge reputation for their explosive live performances and an experimental sound that merges punk rock with a unique dance edge, HOUNDS are set to release their brand new EP ‘The Wicked’ on June 4th 2012.

Recently added to the stellar line up of Download Festival this June, the four-piece of Olly Burden, Chas Langston, Adam Hammond and Chris Wallace deliver distinctive anarchic vocals with intense drumming, big synths and dirty bass lines, influenced by a range of iconic groups, from The Clash to Nine Inch Nails, Refused to The Prodigy.

2010 saw Hounds hand-picked by The Prodigy to play Warrior’s Dance Festival at Milton Keynes Bowl and also dubbed as a BBC ‘One to Watch’ following an ‘Introducing’ live session. “Hounds are f*kin great live, that’s why we put them on our festival” said Liam Howlett of The Prodigy.

The band went on to play Sonisphere festival in 2011 before supporting Does It Offend You Yeah? on their UK tour, playing all over the UK to huge crowds, as well as headlining Manchester’s Studio venue for 'In The City' that same year.

The crossover in the band’s sound has seen breakbeat and dance DJs queuing up to work with Hounds and remix their tracks, including Belarus acts 4Kuba and Access Denied as well as UK drum n bass favourite Spor. It has also led to legendary Swedish producers Pelle Henricsson and Eskli Lovstrom, most famous for their work on Refused's seminal album 'The Shape Of Punk To Come', co-producing and mixing 'In Your Eyes' for Hounds.

Confirmation of the group's ever-burgeoning success came this year when they were selected by O2 to work with them on their recent Fair Share music initiative, featuring in their new campaign for priority booking for gigs.

“This EP is just a taster of what’s to come. It’s a snap shot of where we are at right now and just enough to whet the appetite whilst we cook up the next release.”
Olly Burden - Hounds

With a seriously infectious sound and not-to-be-missed live performances, 2012 is the year to watch out for Hounds.

‘The Wicked’ EP is released on June 4th 2012 from www.houndsmusic.com and all good digital stores.
