MusicMafia Essex-based artist S J Denney

MusicMafia presents Essex-based artist S J Denney

S J Denney is an Essex-based artist with Britpop blood and a hard indie edge. He’s a familiar face on the London and festival scenes with a reputation for delivering powerful live performances.

S J’s songs are crafted with finesse and delivered with a punch that demands attention – this is not a passive soundtrack. Add to BrIndie the fusion of folk, grunge and shoegazing to get a real tour de force, captured on his new EP, The Waiting Room.

Support slots for Athlete, The Bluetones, the Inspiral Carpets and Modjo have been valuable stepping stones along the path that has built S J’s loyal fan base. The next 12 months will see the rest catching up and getting the message. And they’re going to like it. A lot.

The Landed to release new single, She ahead of debut E.P.

The Landed new single, She, debut E.P.

The Landed to release new single, She ahead of debut E.P.

The Landed (from Colchester, Essex) make classic, heart-on-sleeve, hooks by the bucket load, air-punching guitar pop. The kind of songs you write when you’ve grown up loving all the right records.

The result can be heard on The Landed’s debut EP which combines the new wave edge of The Police with Fleetwood Mac’s sense of melody, the harmonic home-grown feel of Noah And The Whale with the symphonic rock of ELO.

These songs have already attracted the ear of Tom Robinson at 6 Music. And standout track Taking You Out was made BBC Introducing Track of the Week by Huw Stephens at Radio 1.

Born too late for Top of the Pops, these songs sound destined to play out over the credits of teen TV dramas. The Landed play guitar driven pop hits for the Shazam generation.

The new single is called She and is released May 25th 2015. (you can listen to it below)

Tour Dates

25th May - The Kings Arms Colchester
30th May - Anglia Ruskin University

Hounds release new EP and play Download Festival this June

Hounds

Hounds release new EP The Wicked and play Download Festival this June

“Top tunes, Fan The Flames being one of my favourites, big up!”
Liam Howlett (The Prodigy)

“A Molotov cocktail of dirty rock, sneering vocals and pulsing electro dance beats”
Big Cheese Magazine

“We need more bands like this!”
James Rushent (Does It Offend You, Yeah?)

Hailing from Essex, UK, and already gaining a huge reputation for their explosive live performances and an experimental sound that merges punk rock with a unique dance edge, HOUNDS are set to release their brand new EP ‘The Wicked’ on June 4th 2012.

Recently added to the stellar line up of Download Festival this June, the four-piece of Olly Burden, Chas Langston, Adam Hammond and Chris Wallace deliver distinctive anarchic vocals with intense drumming, big synths and dirty bass lines, influenced by a range of iconic groups, from The Clash to Nine Inch Nails, Refused to The Prodigy.

2010 saw Hounds hand-picked by The Prodigy to play Warrior’s Dance Festival at Milton Keynes Bowl and also dubbed as a BBC ‘One to Watch’ following an ‘Introducing’ live session. “Hounds are f*kin great live, that’s why we put them on our festival” said Liam Howlett of The Prodigy.

The band went on to play Sonisphere festival in 2011 before supporting Does It Offend You Yeah? on their UK tour, playing all over the UK to huge crowds, as well as headlining Manchester’s Studio venue for 'In The City' that same year.

The crossover in the band’s sound has seen breakbeat and dance DJs queuing up to work with Hounds and remix their tracks, including Belarus acts 4Kuba and Access Denied as well as UK drum n bass favourite Spor. It has also led to legendary Swedish producers Pelle Henricsson and Eskli Lovstrom, most famous for their work on Refused's seminal album 'The Shape Of Punk To Come', co-producing and mixing 'In Your Eyes' for Hounds.

Confirmation of the group's ever-burgeoning success came this year when they were selected by O2 to work with them on their recent Fair Share music initiative, featuring in their new campaign for priority booking for gigs.

“This EP is just a taster of what’s to come. It’s a snap shot of where we are at right now and just enough to whet the appetite whilst we cook up the next release.”
Olly Burden - Hounds

With a seriously infectious sound and not-to-be-missed live performances, 2012 is the year to watch out for Hounds.

‘The Wicked’ EP is released on June 4th 2012 from www.houndsmusic.com and all good digital stores.

31st May – LONDON – Sebright Arms (EP Launch Show)

La Fontaine & Uton - London City

La Fontaine & Uton release new single London City

22 year old Essex based producer / singer La Fontaine teams up with Uton for the release of his latest single 'London City'.

Introduced to a wide variety of music at an early age by his parents, La Fontaine discovered his love for hip-hop and R&B as a teenager and soon began writing lyrics of his own. His passion then led him to a Sound Engineering & Music Technology college course in Islington, London, whilst he perfected his sound from a crude home studio set up in his bedroom. In late 2010 La Fontaine produced and co-wrote his first independent release ‘Go Go Go’, a collaboration with 2amplified and The Gents. The song received over 12,000 hits in it's first two months on Youtube and picked up strong TV support from Channel AKA, paving the way for La Fontaine's future success.

Fast forward to 2012, and La Fontaine has released a brand new smash titled 'London City'. The track is a collaboration with French ragga singer Uton, who has established himself as a leading purveyor of the genre since his 1999 hit 'Cocaine Business', along with a host of guest appearances in the hip hop world.

Accompanied by a slick, club themed visual, the single amalgamates RnB, dancehall and pop to create what is set to be one of 2012's biggest club anthems. La Fontaine fans will love it, clubbers will request it and DJs will be red in the face without it in their record box this winter.
