Decade's Alex Sears Releases Pop Punk Christmas Paul McCartney Cover For Free Download

Decade's Alex Sears Releases Pop Punk Christmas Paul McCartney Cover For Free Download

Following a year that’s seen his band grow from strength to strength and become one of the most hotly tipped pop-punk acts in the UK, Decade front man Alex Sears is showing no signs of slowing down his prolific creative output by closing 2012 with a free download of Paul McCartney’s ‘Simply Having A Wonderful Christmastime’ accompanied by a homemade video featuring a nostalgic selection of the best in retro Christmas TV ads!
Keeping all the synthy-tweeness of the original and giving it his own twist with his signature vocals and overdriven guitars, this cover is guaranteed to get you in the festive pop punk spirit this season. Released under the front man’s alias sophomore, through which he’s already released a free 3 track EP and cover of Lana Del Rey’s Blue Jeans (all still available on the bandcamp here: http://sophomoreuk.bandcamp.com/ ), the material sees a slight departure from the regular Decade fare and leaves him free to explore his songwriting and creative flair.

“I decided to have a crack at Wonderful Christmastime because I really wanted to do a Christmas cover and I think it’s one isn't an obvious choice” says Alex “Plus the chords are really clever and I knew it would sound sick played as a full band. 2012 has been an amazing year for me; I've had the chance to play with some bands that I love and the reception we had at Hit The Deck and Slamdunk was unreal! Hopefully once the new album is out it'll be even bigger and better next year.”

After appearing alongside Hit The Lights, Transit, The Story So Far, A Loss For Words, Save Your Breath, Light You Up and many more as well as slots at Slam Dunk Festival and Hit The Deck, Decade have rounded off an exceptional year by recording their debut album at Longwave Studios with Romesh Dodangoda set for a spring 2013 release.

Decade play Radstock Festival on 30th March 2013 alongside The Blackout, We Are The Ocean, Yashin, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and many more to be announced – more 2013 dates TBC.

Mikey Smith feat Garwe releases Useless

Fast rising recording artist Mikey Smith releases the first single from his 6 track EP 'The Story So Far', titled 'Useless'.

Born and raised in South London, Mikey Smith is an enterprising individual with great visions and even greater musical talents. Mikey has participated in music from an early age and for the last four years he has been writing songs and crafting his unique and eclectic sound outside of the limelight. In 2010, the multi talented recording artist came back into the public eye with a variety of releases, including his acclaimed debut album 'Look At Me Now' (produced entirely by Links), which was received positively across the independent music scene. Mikey also teamed up with Gambit Ace and Caliman to create team ‘Double or Nothing’ and together they penned the album 'HD3 and Double or Nothing presents – Time 4 Bizniz', a 10 track record produced entirely by Plymouth’s Bizniz Beats.

'Useless' is the first single from Mikey's latest EP 'The Story So Far', and blends beautiful acoustic guitar melodies with gentle, retrospective wordplay from the hotly tipped rapper. Singer / songwriter Garwe adds a touch of soul to the record, blessing the chorus with a profound hook line oozing in class. The record is accompanied by a poignantly visualised video, which is crafted masterfully by director David Bonnick Jnr.

The single and EP arrive at a time when Mikey is launching his latest movement F.T.L.O.M – For The Love Of Music. His aim is to connect with artists, audiences, singers, song writers and directors who are all like minded and passionate about their goals, with aspirations much deeper than money and material things.

'The Story So Far' is available now via all iTunes (Worldwide, America, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Japan, Italy and Europe), Myspace and Spotify.
