We Love Sundays At Space 2014 - Coming up in August

We Love Sundays At Space 2014 August

We Love Sundays At Space 2014 - Coming up in August

As the halfway point of the We Love Sundays At Space Summer season approaches, the list of highlights gets longer and longer. The Opening Party already seems like a lifetime ago and the last eight weeks blur into a hazy memory of sunny afternoons, sweaty nights and fantastic music. Taking a look ahead at the month to come August looks set to provide as many talking points as the previous eight parties, starting things off on August 3rd with a very special event in collaboration with BBC Radio 1 and the fantastic Essential Mix as part of the Radio 1 Ibiza Weekender.

AUGUST 3rd

For this special event We Love resident Skream hosts the Discoteca as part of his monthly Skreamizm takeovers and his set will be recorded live for broadcast on the Essential mix. Joining him in the main room for the first time in 7 years of playing We Love (all previous appearances have been on the Terrace) Âme plays a much anticipated Techno set. Dense and Pika return for the second year running representing the cutting edge of Techno and fresh from his highly acclaimed Essential mix Jasper James makes his We Love and Space debut. Also appearing Joris Voorn plays his only Terrace set of the Summer after a fantastic main room appearance back in June and we are very happy to welcome DJ W!LD to the We Love fold for a one off performance. Technasia completes the bill on the Terrace and plays an extended closing set. We Love the Essential Mix!

AUGUST 10th

Put simply August 10th looks set to be THE event of the Summer. On the second Sunday in August We Love present Loco Dice’s birthday party aptly titled “AUGUST X“. For this exclusive We Love Sundays At Space event Dice has invited his friends and contemporaries, covering Space’s 5 rooms from start to finish. The 15 hour event will see 2 appearances from the man himself, an afternoon Sunset Terrace set and a main Terrace closing set. Joining Dice on the night are Chris Liebing, Chuck Flask, Cirillo, Crack-T, Guti, Josh Wink, Martin Buttrich, Nightmares On Wax (DJ Set), Pulshar, Robert Dietz, Sin Plomo, tINI, Tobi Neuman, Vladimir Ivkovic and some VERY special guests. We Love Loco Dice!

AUGUST 17th

Three weeks into August and there is not letting up as Disclosure present their third exclusive Wild Life event at We Love Sundays At Space. Everyone who has attended either of the two previous Wild Life shows will testify to just how mind blowing these have been and the lineup for August 17th looks set to trump even the previous two. Disclosure are at the very apex of the current dance music crossover phenomenon and the bill around them reflects a mix of the new cool (Skream, Bicep, Dusky), the old school (Carl Craig) and the effortlessly cool (Henrik Schwarz). A varied mix of guests for sure but all with a common theme, fantastic music and each amazing artists in their own rights. We Love Wild Life!

AUGUST 24th

August 24th sees the return of the original We Love Space resident Danny Tenaglia. The role Danny Tenaglia played in shaping the history of We Love, Space and Ibiza in general cannot be overstated. His residency defined an era in dance music history and paved the way for modern DJing. Danny plays an extended Terrace set and will be joined by another Terrace statesman and We Love resident Paul Woolford. Completing the bill in this room the ascendant Hot Since 82 makes his only We Love Sundays appearance of the Summer. Over in the Discoteca another original We Love Sundays At Space resident Sasha continues his Last Night On Earth takeovers inviting special guests Julio Bashmore and Catz ‘N Dogz to join him. We Love Sasha, We Love Danny Tenaglia!

AUGUST 31st

August 31st completes a 5 Sunday month and We Love close August out in Style. Superstylers Groove Armada are back on the Terrace for their only Space appearance of the Summer. Their shows over the last few years in this room have become the stuff of legend and being their only one of the Summer this set is sure to blow the roof clean off. We Love favourite Kölsch makes a welcome return and Fuse residents Enzo Siragusa and Rossko play back to back for their debut Terrace gig. Over in the Discoteca James Zabiela hosts Born Electric once again and invites Daniel Avery who plays back to back with Ivan Smagghe and Ben UFO who plays back to back with Midland. A trio of B2Bs, the return of Kölsch, maestro James Zabiela and Groove Armada’s only Terrace performance of the year, We Love Sundays At Space!

As well as all this action every week the We Love Sundays At Space experiences covers Space's 5 rooms starting on the Sunset Terrace from 16:30 with the Stripped concept. Stripped continues it's theme of unannounced guests for the rest of the summer so no info on the coming lineups but artists who have already appeared this Summer include Shaun Reeves, Bill Patrick, Hector, Bushwacka, Jordan Peak, Marco Yanes, Rossko, Ryan Crosson and loads more.

To keep unto date with all thing We Love keep an eye on their website, blog, Facebook and twitter.

Liverpool calling 2014 - Bombed out church review

Liverpool calling 2014 - Bombed out church review

Liverpool calling 2014 - Bombed out church review

Liverpool Calling, Now in its 2nd year, has boosted its venues and acts quite considerably. With the likes of the Kazimier and the Bombed out Church alongside The Zanzibar, Sound food and drink and studio 2, theres plenty to whet your appitite this time around.

First up for us though was the outside stage at the Kazimier with Rufus Hok. A bit of a strange setting amidst the benches and boxes but, in a rustic way, it worked. Rufus had his guitar in hand and went through his set with ease and entertained the crowd with his wit and charm which was in abundance. Meanwhile in the main room of the Kazimier Low Winter Sun set upon their brooding and dark set. Don't get me wrong, it isnt all moody and melancholy, there are upbeat moments during the set and the band themselves convey themselves well but it was all very reminiscent of the joy division era and although as a band they gel well and the songs are very tight and nicely paced it wasn't something I would readily go to see.

The bombed out church on berry street was another venue that had been stamped with the Liverpool Calling moniker and one which kept us there till the end. The vibe was happy and a mixture of music lovers and families sat on chairs and on the grass watching The Sundowners. This 5 piece from Liverpool, lead by singers Niamh Rowe and Fiona Skelly. Their energy and vibrancy shone through the already sunny light to exhilarate the crowds. Tracks like If wishes were horses and Hunter kept the audience on their toes whilst Hummingbird brought the vibe down only enough to be able to unleash again on the audience. I got the feeling of Fleetwood Mac from the band but Fleetwood Mac if you pumped 500 volts of electricity through them and set them loose with wild abandonment. A glorious set.

The good music kept on coming though from the bombed out church as Jetta took to the stage. The Liverpool born/London living singer boasts quite a repertoire of vocal talent. With songs like her debut single Start a Riot and Feels like coming home she almost blew the walls of the bombed out church apart. A wonderful and confident stage presence the set was far too short than I would have liked (possibly due to late running times) but hopefully we will see and hear more of her soon.

Finally it was time for the headliners Space. The venue by this point had filled up nicely but still prompted Double bass member Phil Hartley to ask them to move forward as they weren't about to play a garden party.

Tommy Scott along with the other band members, were all on top form, ripping through the new songs from Attack of the mutant 50 foot kebab along with the classics  Neighbourhood and Female of the species, and so popular were these 2 tracks they played them again at the end of the set for an encore which ramped the crowd into a frenzy. Dare I say it but the band seem a lot now happier and relaxed since Jamie Murphy left and this was a big coup for Liverpool Calling and one that paid off 20 fold.

Liverpool Calling 2014 - Final Line-Up Confirmed

Liverpool Calling 2014 - Final Line-Up Confirmed

Liverpool Calling 2014 - Final Line-Up Confirmed

Liverpool Calling 26th June 2014

Liverpool Calling was another event that drew all kinds of people from far and wide to partake in a very modern form of worship.

Having sold out across St. Luke’s Bombed Out Church and The Shipping Forecast in its debut year, Liverpool Calling has grown into a huge one day event for 2014, spanning across 10 city centre venues and hosting over 50 acts.

With June 2nd’s massive announcement and completed line-up, Liverpool Calling is staking its claim to be one of the U.K’s finest new one day events.

Joining the acts already announced are scouse legends Space, indie-rock starlets The Repeat Offenders and dance music’s new darlings D R O H N E.

Also added to the line-up are; Delta Sleep, Jetta, The Sundowners, Cavalry, Reva, Colour, The Cheap Thrills, Sunday Star Club, You Must Not Sleep, The Mighty Ibex, Elmo and The Styx, In Evil Hour, Billy Kelly, Nadine McGhee, Rob Jones and Rob White, Matty H, Ryvers, Katy McGrath and Howlin Voodoo

Acts previously announced include; The Rifles, Twisted Wheel, Dexters, D/RU/G/S, The Rag n’ Bone Man, The Mono LP’s, GhostChant, The Jackobins, Southbound Attic Band, Low Winter Sun, Rufus Hok, Michael Bennett, Detuned Radio, Kusanagi, Polymath, Cleft, Sheepy, Enamel Animal, Mike Markey, SuperSprite, Stereo Electric Mistress, Gold Jacks and Filter Distortion

Amongst all the newly added talent there are also new venues to accommodate them. The Bombed Out Church will host Liverpool Calling for the second year at a most crucial time for the event and the venue. Zanzibar will host a plethora of local talents and will be headed by Twisted Wheel. Uber-cool basement Next to Nowhere will host a punk party that only Antipop could throw. Studio 2, Sound Food and Drink and A Vidzta live stage will also showcase talent too.

Added to the bill are Liverpudlian giants Space. Having released their first album for 9 years 'Attack Of The Mutant 50ft Kebab' earlier this year, Space have rediscovered the form that made them unbelievably popular back in their 90’s heyday. Headlining the under threat Bombed Out Church, they are surely going to make Liverpool Calling a landmark event for the city in 2014.

Heading the bill at The Kazimier are everyone’s favourite mod-revivalists The Rifles. Having released their fourth and highest charting album ‘None the Wiser’ back in January The Rifles are still rolling as strong as ever since their 2006 debut. Championed by a whole host of people including king of the mods himself, Paul Weller, The Rifles are bound to thrill audience at Liverpool Calling.

To make sure the rock keeps rolling, Twisted Wheel also join the fray. After a recent tour including sell-out shows in Manchester’s Gorilla venue and high expectations of a new album on the horizon, Twisted Wheel are poised for a full on assault on your musical landscape.

Taking Liverpool Calling right through to the early hours will be a host of the finest dance acts around at Korova. Led by D\R\U/G/S one of Manchester’s finest purveyors of encapsulating beats.

We Love... Space Ibiza presents Stripped

We Love Space Ibiza Stripped

We Love... Space Ibiza presents Stripped

For many years the heart of Sundays in Ibiza was daytime clubbing on the Space Terrace. For one reason or another, political restrictions from the island government and a gradual shift in habits, Space evolved from a daytime venue to the nightclub it is today. This summer we present Stripped on the Sunset Terrace as a nod to the past and a celebration of what we believe is still one of the best rooms in the world for an outdoor, daytime party.

The party will start as early as we can possibly open at 16:30 and run through until midnight when Mr Doris and his After Dark crew will take control of the room. As the trend for higher and higher levels of production and flamboyant light shows sweeps Ibiza, this daytime concept aims to ‘strip‘ clubbing back to it’s essential elements. The music and the crowd will be paramount and the focus will be on celebrating the spirit and ethos that made the Space Terrace famous in the first place. The soundsystem has been upgraded to Function One and the lineups have been carefully programmed bringing in a mix of the finest island residents and international guests each week but will remain completely unannounced all season. An anonymous lineup brings the right people together for the right reasons: great music, in a great venue with a great crowd. Stripped will be a party for everyone to enjoy in the same way, it will be our antidote to VIP culture and musical snobbery, it will be for everyone who shares our ideals and not for those who prefer to sit behind a velvet rope and will be the cheapest ticket available for We Love Sundays At Space.

Early bird tickets for all of these events are now sold out, second release tickets are available here http://welove.eventgenius.co.uk/

Intec at Space Ibiza 2014 back for one night only

Intec at Space Ibiza 2014

Intec at Space Ibiza 2014 back for one night only

On the 17th June, Intec will be returning to Ibiza’s legendary Space for one night only, following their hugely successful debut at the club last summer.

Taking to the decks this time include label head Jon Rundell, Intec stalwarts Marco Bailey and Harvey McKay and new to the Intec party, Scottish techno duo SLAM.

Jon Rundell: “After last years party at Space we decided it would be good to do it all over again. This time we bring techno legends Slam, infamous with their contribution to the scene with their regular events in Glasgow and their Soma label. We bring Marco Bailey back after destroying the terrace last year with his unique techno energy, and we invite man of the moment Harvey McKay to join us after his top5 debut release with us 'Something Good.'

The message is loud and clear. Intec is here to bring you quality artists in quality clubs, making sure you have a great experience to take away with you and remember for a long time.”

Intec at Space is just the latest in what’s proving to be a busy year for the seminal techno label. They’ve already had releases this year from the likes of Carlo Lio, Nicole Moudaber, Harvey McKay, Mathew Jay, Project AKC, The Junkies, Ferhat Albayrak and Jon and Carl themselves. They also returned for a sell out London show, headlined by Carl Cox and Jon at Fabric. Watch highlights HERE – such a success there’s already talks of a return later in the year. They’re also lining up more club nights, next up with Intec at Lehmann Club, Stuttgart, Germany on August 23 with more to be announced.

The Intec club series was born early 2013, to mark the return of the Pure Intec compilation series to the label. They kicked off with a sold-out show at XOYO, before continuing their assault across Europe with a huge night at Fabrik in Madrid. This was followed by their aforementioned debut at Space, Ibiza, with sets last summer from Intec’s Ben Sims, Marco Bailey and Pirupa.

Following Ibiza, Intec hit the only remaining street Techno party in the world– Switzerland’s Zurich Street Parade. This time joining forces with the mighty Dubfire and his record label SCI+TEC, they took over the city’s District 4 club, with Jon and Dubfire heading their respective labels.  Furthermore, Intec ended 2013 with a bang by touching down at the almighty Gashouder in Amsterdam for Awakenings ADE. The night was packed full to capacity and showcased sets from some of Intec’s artists such as Marco Bailey, Nicole Moudaber, Dosem and Tomy DeClerque plus the two labels bosses. Check out the after movie here.

Stay tuned for more for more club nights to be announced.

We Love... Sundays at Space Ibiza announce this years Residents

We Love... Sundays at Space Ibiza Residents

We Love... Sundays at Space Ibiza announce this years Residents

We Love Sundays At Space knows the importance of great residents. This year, in addition to the long list of on-island residents, We Love welcomes a key group of international artists to the team, with a few familiar faces joining some new ones.

We Love… Sasha - A welcome return for a We Love original. Sasha plays around the world at some of dance music's most important venues, heads up a record label championing forward thinking house music, and last year released the critically acclaimed album Invol<3r. With one epoch-defining Space residency under his belt already and a one off Terrace performance last year which went down as a season highlight, this year Sasha returns with four very special Last Night On Earth events at We Love Sundays At Space.

"Space has always been the natural home for me in Ibiza. It's the club I have had most association with over the years. I can't wait to get back there on a regular basis this summer for my Last Night On Earth parties. It's a real honour to have been invited to host these shows on the legendary Sundays with We Love and I'm excited that I get to mix it up between the terrace and the discotheque. I couldn't be happier with the list of guests joining me throughout the summer. It can't start soon enough!" - Sasha

We Love… Skream - Skream makes his We Love debut this summer, bringing a fresh injection of his eclectic sound. Skream's rapid rise to stardom began as he made his name as a pioneer of dubstep. He also draws disco influences through collaborations with some of the genre's biggest names and curates house and techno flavoured events around the world. It is fair to say his tastes are varied! This summer he presents four exclusive Skreamizm shows at We Love Sundays At Space taking over one of the main rooms for each party.

“I always end up having more than a lovely time at We Love. It'll be a pleasure to be partying with the crew across the summer.” - Skream

We Love… James Zabiela - One of We Love’s longest serving residents James Zabiela returns for his 13th year. James's style and technical wizardry have made him famous the world over, but it is his taste in music, desire to be at the cutting edge and unrivalled ability blow the roof off which secures his place in the We Love family year on year. He hosts a total of four events at We Love in 2014, including two very special Born Electric label takeovers.

"We Love is my home from home. It's where I learned my craft and where I've had some of the most memorable experiences both as a DJ and as a lover of music. We Love always program in a perfect balance of forward thinking music alongside festival dance floor behemoths, whilst retaining and embodying the spirit Acid House for new generations to enjoy." - James Zabiela

We Love… Dusky - Last year’s guests become this year’s residents. In 2013 Dusky performed at We Love twice on the main Terrace and once in the Discoteca. The shows went down as some of the best of the season and this year they make a welcome return as monthly residents. The duo will perform four times across the summer, showcasing their version of a house sound which is becoming synonymous with a new wave of Ibiza DJs.

"The best lineups in Ibiza in the best club in Ibiza. What's not to love about We Love..?" - Dusky

We Love… Paul Woolford - There are few acts as representative of We Love as Paul Woolford. Paul has been part of the Sunday lineups for the last 10 years and is as much a part of the family as he is resident DJ. His Hot Flush release last year, 'Untitled' became an instant Space and Ibiza classic.

His Soul Music album, released under his Special Request moniker, was hailed as genre defining and, although it seems counterintuitive to think of such an experienced artist “breaking though”, it catapulted him to centre stage once again. Paul is back with four performances this summer.

"We Love have consistently provided a unique, innovative and dedicated experience for the people of Ibiza and visitors to the island. I am honoured and thrilled to represent the We Love family once more as a resident in 2014" – Paul Woolford

We Love… Bicep - Back room favourites become main room residents. Bicep has played pretty much every room in Space since their first gig for We Love in 2008, but wasn't until last summer that they took control of the main rooms. Their three amazing Terrace shows proved their readiness for the step up to the bigger arenas. With a string of acclaimed releases on some of house music’s most respected labels, including their own Feel My Bicep imprint, and a touring schedule taking them around the world, this season they’re back for four exclusive main room performances including one very special Discoteca show.

"Can't wait to be back on the island for We Love again this summer - particularly looking forward to playing on the terrace for the first time and, as always, playing with some of my favourite DJs." - Ben UFO

We Love… Disclosure - The superstars of today present four exclusive Wild Life events at We Love Sundays at Space. Already announced for these marquee dates are Derrick May, Henrik Schwarz, Octave One, Ame and more. We will be announcing the full lineups for these shows and our entire summer programme in the next few weeks. Watch this space!

"We Love is one of our favourite club nights in the world. Best lineups, best sound system, can't wait to bring Wild Life there…" - Disclosure

A We Love Sundays at Space Exclusive - Loco Dice

There are a select few people who have become synonymous with Ibiza; Loco Dice is one of those people. The island has been his summer home for a decade and a half and last season he launched his highly successful Used + Abused residency. On an island renowned for people pushing for more year on year, constantly aiming for the ‘bigger’, or the ‘better’ it is very rare to see an artist take a step back. Last week Loco Dice had this to say -

“I’d like to announce that after 15 amazing years with Ibiza as my summer base, and an amazing USED + ABUSED season, it’s time to put in work on a few special projects (new music!!!), and get inspired from new places and new experiences along the way.

But no summer is complete without a visit to the island! I’ll be there just one time only to perform and celebrate my birthday with friends on Sunday August 10th at We Love Sundays At Space.

I’ll see you all on the Isla Blanca.”

On Sunday 10th August We Love presents Loco Dice’s 40th Birthday Party with an all star line up made up of a selection of his friends taking over Space’s 5 rooms from start to finish. The full line-up will be announced in the coming weeks but use your imagination and you’re probably not far off. If you were Loco Dice who would you invite to play at your birthday party?!

We Love… Sundays At Space, We Love… Loco Dice!

Kendal Calling 2014 Fancy Dress Theme Announced

Kendal Calling 2014 Fancy Dress Theme Announced

Kendal Calling 2014 Fancy Dress Theme Announced

Not resting on their laurels after winning the Best Medium Sized Festival at the prestigious UK Festival Awards, the Kendal Calling crew have been working round the clock to top last year’s record-breaking year. The Kendal Calling Goes To The Movies theme was a resounding success with a huge variety of spectacular costumes on display and we even broke the world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as superman ever, with 867 Supermen donning the famous red cape and pants!   The Kendal Calling team would have to boldly go where no man has ever gone before to make this year even better.

In 2014 the festival will transform into a dazzling alien world, as Kendal Calling brings outer space to the Lake District! This promises to be an out of this world experience where every area of the festival will be invaded by a host of science-fiction characters taking the festival-goers on a journey through the stars.

Without giving away the festival's plans too much, festival-goers can beam themselves into the Calling Out tent after the bands go home to watch some of the best space films ever made and some that might surprise!

Once again an attempt will be made to smash another world record. This year Kendal Calling hope to break the record for the largest moonwalk! No, we're not sending people into space!  Instead festival-goers should don their sparkly white gloves and embrace their inner MJ as they attempt to 'beat it.'

As always, Saturday will be fancy dress day and festival-goers are encouraged to suit up in keeping with the space theme, whether it be a character or object from across the galaxy such as Darth Vader, Spock, Barabella, Dr Who, Ziggy Stardust, Neil Armstrong, Captain Malcolm Reynolds, Michael Jackson or even a planet. Be as creative and as wacky as you like! In years gone by revellers have demonstrated brilliant ideas and imagination in designing and donning costumes transforming the ancient, tranquil Deer Park into a surreal, bouncing wonderland.

As well as the overall space themed décor, Kendal Calling will once again have a wide variety of the very best music and performance art to excite, enlighten and entertain throughout the weekend. Keep an eye out for many more Kendal Calling announcements in the near future as this multi award winning festival continues to provide the perfect backdrop for a weekend of musical merriment in the fields.

Situated in one of the most idyllic locations in the UK, Kendal Calling has quickly established a reputation as one of the most innovative festivals in the country, combining great music, good food, award winning ales and lasting memories in the outstanding surroundings of the Lake District. Last year Kendal Calling sold out in advance of the show and has sold out in each of its eight previous years.  Although the team have added a number of new and exciting developments for 2014 they have kept the event to the same capacity as the previous year, protecting the festival’s intimate feel and attention to detail for which it is renowned.
