Now Then Manchester teams up with Mind On Fire to showcase live music from DANNY DRIVE THRU, DAYSE & AVER and VIEKA.
Local arts and music blog Now Then Manchester will continue its monthly stint at Chorlton-cum-Hardy’s Dulcimer bar on Thursday 11th August by collaborating with promoters-turned-record label Mind On Fire.
Soul and hip hop influenced producer Danny Drive Thru is the event’s headliner, neatly coinciding with his new 7” single release via Mind On Fire Recordings. Two tracks, ‘Psychedelia Smith’ and ‘Violence Makes’ are featured on vinyl available for the first time on the night, but the live performance promises anything from an eclectic array of samples, clips and synthetic beats.
Joining Danny Drive Thru will be Dayse & Aver, a pairing formed as a splinter group from Manchester hip hop collective The Natural Curriculum, and Vieka, a trip hop act whose electronic sampling orchestra moulds succinctly with unwavering percussive rhythms.
WWW.MINDONFIRE.CO.UK is home to a new wave of forward thinking Mancunian music, made available via a series of vinyl recordings and free digital EPs for those of you with an inquisitive ear.
Mind On Fire aims to bring inventive and often overlooked Mancunian music to a wider audience. The website features tracks from a wide variety of Mancunian musicians and producers all doing their own thing. Unrestrained by genre, MOF features artists from Hip Hop to Alt Rock, Jazz and Funk to Electronica. Genre is of no importance, but the quality is consistent.

Now Then Manchester's events at Dulcimer (Wilbraham Road, Chorlton, M21 0AE) operate on a pay-what-you-like basis in order to maintain access for all while encouraging discovery of and support for local arts & music. Dulcimer is a stone’s throw away from the new tram service from Manchester to Chorlton-cum-Hardy.
