Single review - The Greeting Committee - Show me the lights of home
Once upon a time there where six little boys from Newcastle. They decided to get together because they were the getting together type. When they were together they wondered what for after all, what for? So all of a sudden they grew some guitars and formed a noise.
The single starts off slowly, first initial reaction to it was that it was very Stone roses (which is not a bad thing). The Lead singers vocals are clear, crisp with a slight edge to it that you can hear slink through at times but sounding a little too much like Liam Gallagher at times. The track has a slow build to it, culminating in a glorious crescendo of sound which makes it quite anthemesque in its delivery. The grinding guitar scratching its way through alongside the powerful drum beats. The psychedelic sound throughout providing a good accompaniment to the build up.
I think this will appeal to a lot of old school brit-poppers but standing on its own with its lyrics and musical approach and it definitely entices you to see them live and see where it can go.
The Greeting Committee play The Lomax in Liverpool on the 24th May
