UNI Music League gets Wilderness festival on board

UNI Music League (UML) rounded off their showcase rounds on Tuesday night with another excellent installment at PROUD Camden. The acts that went through to the quarters were fabulous, with London 4-piece The Harlots stealing the show with the final performance of the night. An energy-packed group, they have an EP release coming up soon and these hot, hot, hot rock’n’rollers want nothing less than to win UML. Why? The prize list starts with a 4-letter word: KOKO

KOKO is the venue that the acts are competing to play at, with guests along the lines of Noah and The Whale, Cold War Kids and Mr. Scruff making it one of London’s most enticing settings. But that’s not all. The winners will also get a slot at the 10,000 capacity Wilderness festival, to be held in August. This wonderful festival, set-up by the MAMA Group, saw the likes of The Temper Trap and Jake Bugg last year, with the lineup for this year’s event to be announced over the next weeks. All of this and I haven’t mentioned the main ingredient, an EP recorded at the one and only Metropolis Studios. Do I need to mention who has walked in and out those doors? Really? Ok, fine: Queen, The Stone Roses, Lauren Hill, Adele, Amy Winehouse. Enough? I could keep going? Alright, alright, lets move on.

So, as the competition progresses into the quarterfinals, there shall be a change of scenery. The historic charm of Camden will be replaced by the intoxication of city lights in the heart of Soho, at The Borderline to be precise. This illustrious venue has been home to many a great in the past, including Blur, R.E.M. and The Verve, as well as contemporaries such as Bloc Party and Vampire Weekend.

The quarter finals get started on Tuesday Feb. 26th, and run weekly for four weeks. Get your tickets online at www.unimusicleague.com
