Blissfields festival unveil 2nd wave of acts for 2014
Following the announcement of 2ManyDJs, Hercules and Love Affair, Tune-Yards and many more diverse acts for its 2014 event, the festival is now pleased to unveil its second wave of artists for this July 3rd to 5th in Hampshire. Spector, Bipolar Sunshine, Johnny Flynn, Thumpers, Éclair Fifi, Years And Years, and Laurel, lead the announcement for the award-winning and intimate family-friendly festival for forward-thinking music fans. Also unveiled is the sophomore Blissfields Independent Film Festival, offering the chance for budding film-makers to screen their short movies during the event, as well as info on all areas of Blissfields 2014. Tickets are available now via www.blissfields.co.uk.
Spector make their welcomed return to Blissfields, bringing the Roxy Music-esque sharp pop of debut record Enjoy It While It Lasts – which reached #1 on the Official Record Store Chart on release – back to the main stage, no doubt previewing new material already destined for the climax of indie discos across Britain. They’re joined on the main stage by Bipolar Sunshine, tipped by Fader Magazine as “primed for big things” and cited by The Guardian as “confusing, but in a good way” his music is quickly picking up adulation for incorporating influences as diverse as Arctic Monkeys and Kanye West.
Few solo artists have captured the folk imagination over the past few years as much as Johnny Flynn, making his much anticipated and long overdue first appearance at Blissfields following the release of greatly admired albums A Larum and Been Listening which positioned Flynn at the center of nu-folk alongside contemporaries and sometimes collaborators Marcus Mumford and Laura Marling.
To complete a special Friday night dance takeover line-up of Snakehips and TCTS - KYAN is now confirmed, fresh from touring with London Grammar, joining Kidnap Kid, who’s recently been on the road with Disclosure - crafting a tastemaker bill for summer 2014.
As well as the Fields Of Bliss Spa, which is new for 2014, a new stage has also been launched. Taking its cue from the acoustic stage of 2013, The Larch is the place to be in 2014 for the best merging folk and acoustic acts by day, and by night this venue turns into a lively, late-night dance hall for swingers, flappers and vintage ravers.
In usual Blissfields tradition, this second wave includes some of the most acclaimed artists from a varied spectrum of music including the world of pop, indie, folk - and with the addition of Radio 1 “In New DJ’s We Trust” presenter Éclair Fifi – dance music as well. The festival’s mission to bring a truly eclectic event, without compromise, to an intimate setting is once again at the core of its 2014 ethos.
Also announced now is information on all of Blissfields areas including Electric Dreams Cinema and Independent Film Festival, Angel Gardens Family & Kids Area, The Fields Of Bliss Spa, Amoeba To Zebra area, Blissfields Beer Festival, Craft Area, Sports Day Arena, and much more… making this without doubt the most packed Blissfields festival ever programmed
