Deer Shed Festival Final Music Announcement

Deer Shed Festival can now unveil its full, lovingly handpicked and carefully crafted music line-up for 2013!  With only top quality acts making up the bill, Deer Shed Festival are living up to their exacting standards with the final music slots going to; the supremely talented Eugene McGuinness, sultry Peggy Sue, indie indulgence from Deep Sea Arcade,Liverpudlian quintet Death at Sea, the soulful harmonies of Luke Sital-Singh, acoustic trio Park Bench Society and Leeds duo, Dancing Years.

Over the past year Eugene McGuinness has been building on his already solid reputation to become quite the celebration with music press and fans alike. Releasing his second album last year, ‘The Invitation to the Voyage’Eugene came back on the scene with a new found confidence and a top notch catalogue of brand new songs. With his anthemic single ‘Shotgun’ conjuring up images from a more glamorous time of espionage and martini cocktails, Eugenie has been passed the mantle from where School of Seven Bells left off last year, headlining the Dock Stage, and is all set to deliver a experience of equal brilliance!

Brighton, indie folk duo Peggy Sue were formed by longtime friends Rosa Slade and Katy Young. The group's signature blend of brooding anti-folk and fiery indie pop was born in basements, living rooms, and small clubs in 2006. A successful tour with like-minded British indie rockers Mumford & Sons earned Peggy Sue attention outside of the local scene. With two albums now under their belts, Deer Shed Festival are delighted to welcome Peggy Sue and their intense hybrid of pop and folk for the aural pleasure of the Friday night Lodge Stage audience, just before Gaz Coombes. Also appearing on the Lodge stage on Friday will be local ladsDancing Years, they will be opening the stage and ensuring things get off to a flying start!

Whilst over on the Main Stage for Friday afternoon, Deep Sea Arcade will be kick starting proceedings. Deep Sea Arcade have taken a lot of their influence from late 80s and early 90s brit pop, which occasionally results in a Supergrass meets the Stone Roses hybrid and makes for a brilliant way to get people in the mood for a weekend of musical indulgence!

Another watery themed band on the bill for Deer Shed Festival 4 is Death at Sea, this Liverpool based quintet are new kids on the block, having only performing live shows for under a year but they have already toured with a host of hyped bands including Palma Violets and Savages to great acclaim. They will be joined by the Park Bench Society, a Spanish-esque guitar strumming, sax and trumpet tooting, young trio from Loughborough who will provide the perfect Saturday afternoon sunshine tunes, taking the Deer Shed Festival audience to a place of warming sun sets and scrummy sangria!

The final addition to the musical treats in store for the Saturday afternoon is the hauntingly soulful Luke Sital–Singh. On the Lodge stage on Saturday alongside; Willy Mason, Stealing Sheep, Blue Rose Code and Sweet Baboo, Luke will be in excellent company and in an ideal setting for his multi layered, staggeringly refined, self harmonising and spine tingling chorals that perfectly showcase the breadth and scope his abilities.

With these last music line-up announcements, Deer Shed Festival 4 is choc-a-block with contemporary and established acts that all exude a supreme quality and talent. From the big headliners; Darwin Deez, Edwyn Collins, House of Love, Gaz Coombes and King Creosote to the lesser know hidden gem artists, one thing’s for sure, there will be an abundance of treats for the ears in Baldersby Park this July!

Deer Shed Festival 4 - First Acts Announced

The first musical morsels to come off the production line for this year’s Deer Shed Festival create a small, but perfectly formed snippet of the treats in store for 2013… The initial batch of artists consists of;  New York guitar and pop maestro Darwin Deez, one of 90s Brit pop leading lights Gaz Coombes, Massachusetts singer-song writer Willy Mason, the multi-award winning ethereal folk sounds of The Unthanks, Tubular Bells for Two’ - the antipodean take on Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells as reincarnated by Daniel Holdsworth and Aiden Roberts in their 2012 Edinburgh Festival hit show, and with The Milk bringing some funk and soul to the show for the Friday night warm-up entertainment, these, along with; Stealing Sheep, Public Service Broadcasting, To Kill A King, Zervas and Pepper, Kitty the Lion, Blue Rose Code and Marconi Union complete this first dollop of mouthwatering artists for the discerning music lover!

Darwin Deez took the airwaves by storm in 2010 with his debut single “Radar Collector” and subsequent self-titled album. Back with his second album released later in 2013, Darwin Deez is set to bring his mix of sunshine pop and indie attitude to drive Deer Shed Festivals’ audience crazy with his offbeat dance routines, which will be sure to set the Saturday night Main Stage alight!

Gaz Coombes will be swinging by Deer Shed Festival’s Lake stage on Friday evening to shake off the shackles of an era and delight Deer Shed Festival’s faithful with a showcase of his delectable individual stylings and multi-instrumentalist talents in the afterglow of his first solo album Here Comes the Bombs’. Released last year his solo style was a more reflective, darker and more experimental sound then in his Supergrass days but the album remains very colourful and live Gaz produces high-octane, premier league entertainment!

Fiction records golden boy, Willy Mason will be bringing his celebrated blend of acoustic folk and roots to delight festival goers. With his long awaited third album Carry On released at the end of 2012 after a five year hiatus since his last album, 2013 is set to see Willy return to the spotlight and Deer Shed are giddy with excitement to be able to welcome this incredibly talented musician to the festival.

The Unthanks will be continuing the strong family vibe from Deer Shed’s frolicking fields onto the stage with their much loved, award winning, highly acclaimed ethereal sounds as they present Songs from the Shipyard. They will be beautifully accompanying archive footage from the height of the Shipping industry through to its decline in the Thatcher era. Political, social, with stories of hardship, pride, war, tragedy and pints of mild; A critically acclaimed audio-visual treat in front of a large cinema screen in the Big Top on Sunday.

The Milk blend classic Motown and Northern soul with modern pop to create their soulful, party-ready sound. Pulling together elements of old school R&B sounds with hip-hop, dub, and rock influences to create a style of pop that delivered big fun on every track. Their debut album, Tales from the Thames Delta, arrived in the summer of 2012 to steely industry nods and a plethora of A&R attention, but more importantly, the crowd loved them and Deer Shed Festival fans will be taken back in time to kick start proceedings on the Friday night to really let their hair down and get the party started!

Tubular Bells for Two is the five star reviewed, sell-out Edinburgh show from Daniel Holdsworth and Aiden Roberts, with such a unanimous public and professional opinion of the show, the Deer Shed audience are pretty much guaranteed an unforgettable experience and are in for a real treat! Public Service Broadcasting does exactly what it says on the tin - taking a nostalgic look back over forgotten public service broadcasts and sewing them together to create fantastic tunes to accompany the priceless collection of antique footage, this audio-visual experience is set to entertain and enthrall! Along with Liverpudlian trio Stealing Sheep, five piece ‘rousing orch-folk’ To Kill a King, the summertime soul of Cardiff’s Zervas and Pepper, the chirpy folk-pop of Kitty The Lion, the Caledonian soul of Blue Rose Code and the ever ambient Marconi Union completing the line-up for this first wave of announcements for Deer Shed Festival 4. The 2013 musical lineup is already taking shape and looking like the best Deer Shed Festival to date!

Deer Shed Festival Returns for Mechanical Mayhem

After the monumental achievement of the Monsters theme in 2012, Deer Shed Festival have announced that the forth installment of the immersive, interactive and outrageously imaginative family festival will be Machines! Set in the rolling fields of Baldersby Park in North Yorkshire over the weekend of 19th – 21st July, Deer Shed Festival 4 will pull out all the stops to create a mechanical emporium celebrating the workings behind some of the worlds maddest and innovative creations! Tickets are on sale from £79 (+bf) for tier one adult weekend camping ticket and from £25 (+bf) for Children.

Deer Shed Festival is known for their full throttle approach to the theme, not to be confined to a fancy dress outfit on the Saturday, the theme takes over the whole festival, including workshops, site décor, stages and activities. 2013 will see Deer Shed Festival host a show stopping line up of gadgets, gizmos and games galore to celebrate the gargantuan impact of machines big and small, from every day appliances to mind blowing inventions!
