Created by Evol who has been on the Liverpool music scene for the past 10 years, this music infused festival showcases some of the greatest talent both on Merseyside and beyond. This year the event will take place on 9th August 2014 and will be spread across the two stages of The Kazimier and The Kazimier Gardens.

Only 2 Weeks Until Arrival of Livestock Festival 2014

It is now less than two weeks until the arrival of Livestock, a live music festival event held at Claremont Farm as part of Farm Feast 2014 on Sunday 25 May.

Peter Hook and the Light are the confirmed headline act, playing a mix of Joy Division and New Order tunes with a new innovative playing style bringing a raw edge and a powerful punk ethos to Hook’s classic works.

Newly announced Dan Croll has also been added to the line-up. The LIPA graduate started his career in 2012 when his demo track Marion was listed as a Q essential download, leading to his debut single From Nowhere getting a large amount of attention from BBC radio 1 DJs. He also received the national songwriter of the year award from the Musician’s benevolent fund in 2013.

Bringing together a fusion of electro and folk music, Dan’s music is from the heart and full of meaning for himself and he hopes, his listeners too. Dan Croll may be the missing link between Jake Bugg and Joe Mount, the electro boy, come poetic musician is undoubtedly one to watch out for in the future, and Livestock are excited to be part of Dan’s journey to big things.

Liverpool based Stealing Sheep will also be supporting and have recently supported huge music acts such as Alt- J, Vampire Weekend and St.Vincent. The trio’s melodic blend of indie folk pop is sure to wow Livestock audiences.

Mersey Sound Station 2013 winners Soho Riots round up the line-up. The band, made up of 4 Liverpool University graduates, have been described as ‘guitar pop perfection’ by Bido Lito, a Liverpool, music Zine. This up and coming band are bound for great things thanks to their stunning live reputation after amazing performances with the 1975 and Jaws.

There will be an International Street Food Court at the event which will include all the best Farm Feast food traders along with an amazing Cocktail Bar and a Beer and Cider Festival tent for visitors to enjoy alongside the incredible music line up.

This brand new music event is set to be a highlight for the summer festival season and a must for all music lovers.

Claremont Farm is a picturesque countryside setting for the Farm Feast and Livestock festivals, situated in the heart of the Wirral.

Peter Hook and The Light to headline Livestock at Farm Feast

Joy Division and New Order’s Peter Hook, along with his current band The Light, will be heading to Wirral’s Claremont Farm on Sunday May 25 to headline Livestock, a festival-style evening music event which will run alongside Farm Feast – a fully-fledged festival of food and drink, music and farming fun. 

Bassist, musician, singer, DJ, nightclub owner, record company mogul and author Peter Hook, co-founder of the post-punk band Joy Division, is renowned as one of music’s seminal bassists, playing a pivotal part in the success of both Joy Division and New Order, the latter of which he played bass and provided the backing vocals for until his departure in 2007. Since this departure, Peter has recorded an album with Revenge, two albums with Monaco and one album with Freebass as bassist, keyboardist and lead vocalist.

In this headlining slot, ‘Hooky’, along with The Light, will play a hybrid set of Joy Division and New Order tunes, reinvented to suit their innovative playing style; bringing a raw edge and powerful punk ethos to these classic works through Peter’s mercurial driving bass and brilliant vocals. This reinvention has garnered praise from leading music critics including BBC 6Music DJ Mark Radcliffe, ensuring these classics remain as fresh and relevant as ever.

Members of The Light include Peter’s own son Jack Bates and former Monaco members, Andy Poole (keyboards) and Paul Kehoe (drums) and David Pott.

Supporting Peter Hook and The Light will be Dan Croll, Stealing Sheep and Soho Riots.

Singer songwriter Dan Croll - who prior to achieving chart success studied at LIPA, Liverpool’s performing arts school - will also play Livestock. Croll’s music, an uplifting mixture of folk, classic pop melodies, catchy guitar hooks and electronic beats, has become a firm favourite on the likes of BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music, and his self produced debut album Sweet Disarray garnered favourable reviews from the national music press upon its release in April 2014. 

Liverpool acoustic three-piece Stealing Sheep comprises Rebecca Hawley (vocals, keyboards), Emily Lansley (vocals, guitar) and Lucy Mercer (vocals, drums) who’ve already made waves on the indie-folk scene with their melodic and haunting brand of dreampop . Drawing influences from Captain Beefheart, Bjork, Yes, Lykke Li and Metronomy, the trio’s first album 'Into the Diamond Sun' received widespread critical acclaim and with a live set on the cards, festivalgoers can expect whirling and spiralling guitars, thunderous and mesmerising drums, hypnotic and infectious synths and enchanting three part harmonies.

Farm Feast and Livestock are delighted to announce an up and coming addition to the Livestock line-up  -  Merseyrail Sound Station winners of 2013, Soho Riots, a band with a stunning live reputation - fostered thanks to their standout shows with The 1975 and Jaws – which piqued the interest of Bido Lito!, Liverpool’s influential music zine, who basked in the band’s ability to “seamlessly transform a delicate melody into a frenzied assault full of determination and spirit”.

As well as a stunning evening of live music, the site will include all the best food traders from Farm Feast’s International Street Food Court, a fantastic cocktail bar and a Beer and Cider Festival tent. GIT AWARD 2013 SHORTLISTED ARTISTS REVEALED

Liverpool’s premier music prize, The GIT Award can reveal the 12 shortlisted artists for the 2013 edition. 

The GIT (Getintothis) Award, dubbed ‘the Scouse Mercury Prize’ enjoyed a hugely successful inaugural year in 2012 and the stakes will be even higher when the 2013 winner of this now established award – chosen from the carefully selected shortlist of exciting emerging acts – is revealed on Friday April 19 at Leaf on Bold Street.

GIT Award founder and chair of judges, Peter Guy, said: “This year’s shortlist represents a city at the height of its musical powers few could hope to match. Finalising this year’s 12 artists was a colossal task as new Liverpool music is at a creative zenith, however, the judges feel the nominees provide a definitive picture of the diversity, profound musicianship and rich talent emanating out of Merseyside. April 19 at Leaf is going to be a hugely special night showing Liverpool music at its  finest.” 

Since its relaunch in November 2012 up until the closing date at the end of February 2013, the GIT Award received more than 380 entries. 

The shortlist was then decided by a 12-strong judging panel comprising respected music industry figures including BBC 6 Music presenter and son of John Peel Tom Ravenscroft, the editor of rock and pop music bible Q Magazine, Liverpool-born Andrew Harrison , Matt Wilkinson, NME's new music editor, leading UK music website, The Quietus’ editor, John Doran plus the cornerstones of Liverpool’s music and arts scene. 

Andrew Harrison, editor of Q Magazine, said: “This is a genuinely impressive and varied shortlist proves that Merseyside continues to generate fantastic musical talent like nowhere else on earth. The standard of entries was high across board and in common, I suspect, with a lot of the judges, I found the decision-making process very hard. 

“Best of all, the artists we heard managed to draw on Liverpool's musical heritage without living in the past - proving that even with its world-beating history, Liverpool music continues to forge ahead.”

The industry showcase evening at Leaf, which also played host to last year’s ceremony, is strictly invite only and will include performances from the shortlisted artists. 

The overall winner will receive a cash prize of £1000 and a special Inspiration Award, recognising services to Liverpool’s music industry (won last year by the team behind city venue The Kazimier), will also be presented. 

Live visuals, videos and mementoes for each nominee will be created by Liverpool design agency Milk:Presents while former Liverpool Art Prize nominee Jayne Lawless will create two specially designed awards for the winners of the GIT Award 2013 and The Inspiration Award.

In addition a ‘People’s Choice’ online poll consisting of the 12 nominees will be hosted on Bido Lito! , Getintothis, Juice FM and Seven Streets allowing the public the opportunity to have their say on Liverpool’s finest music of 2012-2013. 

Liverpool music lovers know their city is home to some of the finest creative talent in the world. However, eyes and ears elsewhere may need convincing. The inaugural GIT Award readdressed all that and its 2013 edition is set to spread the message even further.

The first musical morsels to come off the production line for this year’s Deer Shed Festival create a small, but perfectly formed snippet of the treats in store for 2013… The initial batch of artists consists of;  New York guitar and pop maestro Darwin Deez, one of 90s Brit pop leading lights Gaz Coombes, Massachusetts singer-song writer Willy Mason, the multi-award winning ethereal folk sounds of The Unthanks, Tubular Bells for Two’ - the antipodean take on Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells as reincarnated by Daniel Holdsworth and Aiden Roberts in their 2012 Edinburgh Festival hit show, and with The Milk bringing some funk and soul to the show for the Friday night warm-up entertainment, these, along with; Stealing Sheep, Public Service Broadcasting, To Kill A King, Zervas and Pepper, Kitty the Lion, Blue Rose Code and Marconi Union complete this first dollop of mouthwatering artists for the discerning music lover!

Darwin Deez took the airwaves by storm in 2010 with his debut single “Radar Collector” and subsequent self-titled album. Back with his second album released later in 2013, Darwin Deez is set to bring his mix of sunshine pop and indie attitude to drive Deer Shed Festivals’ audience crazy with his offbeat dance routines, which will be sure to set the Saturday night Main Stage alight!

Gaz Coombes will be swinging by Deer Shed Festival’s Lake stage on Friday evening to shake off the shackles of an era and delight Deer Shed Festival’s faithful with a showcase of his delectable individual stylings and multi-instrumentalist talents in the afterglow of his first solo album Here Comes the Bombs’. Released last year his solo style was a more reflective, darker and more experimental sound then in his Supergrass days but the album remains very colourful and live Gaz produces high-octane, premier league entertainment!

Fiction records golden boy, Willy Mason will be bringing his celebrated blend of acoustic folk and roots to delight festival goers. With his long awaited third album Carry On released at the end of 2012 after a five year hiatus since his last album, 2013 is set to see Willy return to the spotlight and Deer Shed are giddy with excitement to be able to welcome this incredibly talented musician to the festival.

The Unthanks will be continuing the strong family vibe from Deer Shed’s frolicking fields onto the stage with their much loved, award winning, highly acclaimed ethereal sounds as they present Songs from the Shipyard. They will be beautifully accompanying archive footage from the height of the Shipping industry through to its decline in the Thatcher era. Political, social, with stories of hardship, pride, war, tragedy and pints of mild; A critically acclaimed audio-visual treat in front of a large cinema screen in the Big Top on Sunday.

The Milk blend classic Motown and Northern soul with modern pop to create their soulful, party-ready sound. Pulling together elements of old school R&B sounds with hip-hop, dub, and rock influences to create a style of pop that delivered big fun on every track. WALLS Ghosting Season Afternaut Sun Drums DJ's Friday 1 June The Shipping Forecast Alessio Natalizia of crispy electronicists Banjo Or Freakout started making music because he was waiting for his girlfriend at her  house and it seemed a more agreeable pastime than talking to her flatmates. Electronica bod Sam Willis of Allez Allez was drafted in to remix his first single ‘Mr No’ and ever since they have been known as Walls. Dealing in woozy digital and analogue electronic psychedelic noise, their joyful wash of tuneful hooks is a wake-up call to lazy Animal Collective copyists with loop pedals everywhere. Feeling as fresh as Boards Of Canada, cLOUDDEAD and Spiritualizeddid at their inceptions this is the must-see show. After their European tour, Liverpool’s very own Stealing Sheep return to play a night presented by influential blog The Line of Best Fit at Leaf Café on Bold Street. After a run of superlative EPs, the female folk/psych trio are breaking into mainstream consciousness with new single ‘Shut Eye’. Making a hugely welcome return visit to Liverpool, legendary former Can frontman Damo Suzuki plays at The Kazimier on 22nd June. Having influenced countless artists in the forty plus years since his first appearance with the groundbreaking Krautrock group on Tago Mago, Suzuki continues to push musical boundaries. Led by brothers Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith, folk-rock band Dawes draw from the rich musical heritage of their hometown, highlighting the golden age of the Laurel Canyon sound of the late 60s. Influenced by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, The Byrds and the likes of Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) and Wilco, the band performed alongside legendary singer-songwriter Jackson Browne in December of last year. DAMIEN JURADO MEGAFAUN plus special guests Saturday 18 August Leaf Bold Street

A double-header at Leaf sees US indie-rock singer songwriter Damien Jurado paired up with fellow countrymen, Americana-esqu psych-folk heroes Megafaun. Damien Jurado is currently touring his tenth studio LP, the critically acclaimed Maraqopa, released through long-term label Secretly Canadian, who count The War on Drugs, Yeasayer and Animal Collective amongst their signings. An excellent singer-songwriter, Jurado pushes the sonic envelope using found sounds and field recordings, to create his own niche. Formerly part of DeYarmond Edison, a band that featured none other than Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon, psych-folk group Megafaun released their well-received self-titled album last year. American alt-country band Deer Tick, led by singer-songwriter/guitarist John McCauley have recently been causing a buzz Stateside with new LP Divine Providence, the group’s fourth. Hailing from Rhode Island, the band augmented their classic blues, country and folk roots with a punkier edge recently, earning the group comparisons with US underground legends The Replacements. CATE LE BON plus special guests Thursday 6 September Leaf Bold Street

First gaining exposure via her support slots with Super Furry Animals mainman Gruff Rhys, folk/psych artist Le Bon has blossomed into one of the UKs most admired singer-songwriters. One of the more celebrated bands to emerge in the past few years as part of San Francisco's new psychedelic-rock underground, Sleepy Sun made waves globally in 2009 with the release of its acclaimed debut album, Embrace.  The group's ferocious live performances made them a festival favorite, playing All Tomorrow's Parties on both sides of the Atlantic.
