 O2 Academy partners with fairsharemusic to promote new music
‘download and discover’ playlist offers free downloads from six emerging acts

Ethical and award winning music download store, Fair Share Music (www.faresharemusic.com) has teamed up with the O2 Academy venues to promote the best new music by offering free downloads to music lovers and its customers.

Available from 18 April  the playlist titled ‘download and discover’, features six of the hottest, upcoming artists from the UK and North America.

The promotion also aims to raise awareness of Fair Share Music and ethical downloading among the O2 Academy venues’ core demographic of gig goers.

‘download and discover’ listing includes:

Erland And The Carnival – Nightingale (British folk rock band formed by Simon Tong, formally The Verve, Blur, The Good, The Bad And The Queen)
                                      
We Are Augustines – Chapel Song (previous outfit Pela, Brooklyn boys Billy McCarthy and Eric Sanderson - singer McCarthy’s raw and anguished vocals, along with his persuasive storytelling, are nothing less than masterful)

Mother Mother – The Stand (boisterous Canadian outfit infusing simple pop melodies with rock chords)

Seeräuber Jenny – Push It Away (old world meets new world folk collaboration between singer/songwriter Fran Barker and musician/producer Neil Claxton)

Hounds – In Your Eyes (boys from Braintree with a hard punk-rock sound cut by a sharp dance blade)

Elevens – The Whip (duo from East London who combine hypnotic melodies with electro beats to create a unique synthpop sound)

The ‘download and discover’ playlist will be promoted via the O2 Academy venues’ online and digital platforms, including 15 venue websites, email subscriptions, social networks, as well as in-venue posters.

Speaking about the initiative, Jasmine Skee, Head of Music Sponsorship at O2 said: “We’ve teamed up with Fair Share Music because we appreciate their cause and the fact that they empower so many charities through music.

We recognise the importanceof supporting emerging artists as they may well be performing at one of the O2 Academy venues soon. We’re also really excited to be able to reward our customers with some of the best new music for free.”
