MusicMafia presents Shooting Stansfield

Shooting Stansfield
Edinburgh 4-piece indie band Shooting Stansfield introduce their warm, emotive sound to a UK wide audience with their thematic new EP We Know Not What We Do, out Friday 7th June 2013.

We Know Not What We Do will launch at Sneaky Peteʼs in Edinburgh on Friday 7th June.
Recorded on the banks of Loch Fyne in Argyll, Scotland, the EP was crafted over 5 days to reflect themes of transition, time, life and beyond - consistent with the bandʼs drive for creatingmeaningful, melodic songs.

Shooting Stansfield are Stewart Douglas (guitar, vocals), Stephen Whipp (lead guitar, backing vocals), Craig Robertson (bass, backing vocals) and David Steel (drums and percussion). The band recognise influences from indie and contemporary folk music, drawing on bands from Frightened Rabbit, Meursault and Admiral Fallow to the Twighlight Sad and Biffy Clyro. The sound builds on raw, layered elements to create a rich, melodic soundscape around which textured lyrics provide purpose and meaning.
The first single from the EP, Greater or Lesser, demonstrates the desired layered sound, building on a foundation of airy loops and stomping folk rhythms. The lyrical narrative shows a depth that touches on themes of change and rousing melodies that demand to be sung-along.The coming 12 months look set to be an important year for Shooting Stansfield, with a debut album in the making and plans for a release and tour beyond We Know Not What We Do towards the end of the year.

We Know Not What We Do will be released on Friday 7th June 2013.
