Folks We’re All Dead

Folks reveal video for brand new track We’re All Dead and UK Tour

FOLKS return with a new single and UK tour in June 2013; ‘We’re All Dead’ is a brand new song and a taster of their second album, the follow up to last year’s I See Cathedrals.

The band enjoyed a busy 18 months touring their debut album including supports with Miles Kane, Noel Gallagher and We Are Augustines, shows which saw the band play to sell out crowds in the UK, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and France.  They ended 2012 with a successful theatre tour supporting Band of Skulls and earlier this year toured the UK again with a successful run of headline dates in February.

After those dates the band went back into the studio to record new songs with producer, Paul ‘Strangeboy’ Stacey (Oasis, Black Crowes) and the first offering is ‘We’re All Dead’.  Says Folks songwriter Michael Beasley:

“‘We're All Dead’ is inspired by J G Ballard’s short story 'The Life and Death of God' and is an atypical Folks song is many ways. It's more heartfelt and timeless. We started to perform the song on our recent tour with Band of Skulls and it became a band favourite. It is a great counterpoint to our other songs.

We’re not the first band to be inspired by J G Ballard - Joy Division, Klaxons, even Madonna have referenced his dystopian vision. We're living in the Ballardian nightmare and there's so much doom and gloom around. This song is our perspective of a hopeful and optimistic future.”

The single delivers with a new production style whilst maintaining the band’s alternative lyrical slant on life.

UK TOUR:
07 June - LONDON, The Islington
08 June - LEEDS, Cockpit Rm 3
13 June - EDINBURGH, Electric Circus
14 June - SHEFFIELD, Harley
15 June - MANCHESTER, Soup Kitchen

Folks are Scott Anderson (vocals), Michael Beasley (guitar), Thom Fripp (guitar), Harry Gumery (bass), Wil Ackroyd (keys) and Elliot Barlow (drums).

Folks - Free download of new Track Skull and Bones

After finisghing their UK tour in support of Miles Kane, and after being picked by Noel Gallagher to support him at the Roudhouse back in October, new Manchester based six piece FOLKS have made new track "Skull and Bones" available as a free download.
Bringing together classic song writing with emotive vocals and irresistible melodies, Folks make music to be listened to and enjoyed over and over.  The band were formed when guitarist and writer Michael Beasley hooked up with vocalist Scott Anderson, and they relocated to the US to record what would end up being their debut album, to be released early 2012.    On their return the duo pulled together a full band (Thom Fripp – lead guitar, Harry Gumery – bass, Wil Akroyd - keyboards and Elliot Barlow –drums) which ensured this group could also let rip live.  They kept themselves busy in a rehearsal studio, out of the way, letting the tunes evolve into another side of Folks – one with absolute precision playing and amazing stage energy.
