Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds New Album Chasing Yesterday Out March 3rd

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds will release their second album entitled Chasing Yesterday on March 3rd via Sour Mash Records. The album will be available on CD, Deluxe CD, vinyl, and digitally and can be pre-ordered on Noel's website, iTunes, and Amazon. See the video BELOW to hear the Johnny Mar assisted track "Ballad Of The Mighty I" and the albums single  "In The Heat Of The Moment."

Chasing Yesterday marks a new chapter and sound for Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. It's the first album to be produced as well as written by Noel and features a much broader array of instrumentation than ever before; the result is a rich, expansive and multi-layered record, drawing from a range of disparate influences - from west coast rock to classic rock'n'roll and even some space jazz (!) - whilst still being very obviously a completely cohesive body of work. On producing the album, Noel said:

"It was a major pain in the arse. It's not that I've ever had people telling me what to write or what direction to go in, but managing sessions from one end of the week to the other proved extremely difficult. I had all these people looking at me and saying: 'right, what are we doing today?' I was making the whole thing up as I went along."

Earlier this week Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds announced their return to North America with tour dates kicking off on May 3rd in Toronto and continuing through to their June 7th date at Governor's Ball in New York City. Tickets for the tour go on sale on Friday, January 23 with an exclusive fan pre-sale on January 21 on Noel's website.  Tickets can be purchased at HERE where fans will also have the option of adding on the Deluxe CD or Deluxe Vinyl of Chasing Yesterday (out March 3) to their purchase which has 4 additional bonus tracks including live favorite, "Freaky Teeth" and a remix of new single "In The Heat Of The Moment." Bon Jovi to play Isle Of Wight festival 2013

Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi to play Isle Of Wight festival 2013

Rock act Bon Jovi are to play a headline slot and close the show at next year's Isle Of Wight Festival. The New Jersey band - whose hits include Living On A Prayer - will play the main stage on Sunday June 16, making their debut at the event.

They join The Stone Roses who were yesterday confirmed to perform at the Isle Of Wight, topping the first night bill on the Friday.

Bon Jovi - who have sold more than 130 million albums in a three-decade career - will be playing their only UK festival performance of 2013.

Frontman Jon Bon Jovi said his group was "honoured" to be playing.
"The Isle of Wight Festival is legendary and we're excited to join in the long tradition of rock'n'roll history," he said.

"This will mark our first visit to the island and I expect it will prove to be a highlight of our tour and of 2013."

Promoter John Giddings said: "I can't imagine a better rock band with more hits to close our Sunday night."

This year, artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Tom Petty, Noel Gallagher and Jessie J were among the big-name performers.

Last year, the festival was marred by torrential rain and transport problems, with some festival-goers being forced to sleep in cars as ferry services were suspended and car parks shut due to flooding.

Tickets for Isle of Wight Festival 2013 go on general sale tomorrow at 9am. Further acts will be confirmed for the festival later this week.

V festival 2012 - Weston Park Sunday Review

V festival 2012

V festival 2012 - Weston Park Sunday Review

Day two of V festival brought a wet start to the Weston Park site but by the time we came to watch Emeli Sande the rain had all but stopped. Emeli’s strong female vocals bouncing all around the area and sparking the very large crowd  to sing along to her hit “Next to me” amongst other songs in her set. We wandered around to watch Tim Burgess, sporting a fetching Dappy style hat which underneath saw a thick head of bright blonde hair, sang the back catalogue of The Charlatans hits to a wet but very jubilant crowd.

Moving over to watch Marlon Roudette play the undercover stage, we were greeted with a wonderful musician and vocalist. A former member of the band “Mattafix”, Marlon may have not drawn a huge crowd, but he certainly won over the crowd that was there. His vocals are smooth, clear and certainly unique. He doesn’t get to play much in the UK but on the strength of this set, I’d definitely like to see more of this young man.

On the 4 music stage, Tinie Tempah was rocking the crowds but we decided to go see Newton Faulkner, mainly to see what all the fuss about him is. With his long dreads and wonderful guitar playing I can see the attraction although I found the covers he played, detracted from his own music, and found myself wanting him to just do his own material which I found far superior. But on seeing him play I can definitely see the attraction and although I haven’t heard much of his recorded stuff I have the feeling that the live version is far superior.

With so much going on, its hard to see everything at V festival, but we managed to briefly catch some of Keane, with lead singer, Alex Ebert, looking a lot thinner than when I last remembered due to, as a woman next to me in the crowd proceeded to inform me, his slim fast diet. We also managed to catch a few numbers by Sub Focus. Sounding a lot like Pendulum, their amazing light show was matched with some high energy music but they should have been far further up the bill to really draw the crowds.

Tim Minchin, was starting his set at the same time as Sub Focus, so we shot across to see some of his set. We had caught him previously at Rockness were he had played solo. This time around he was joined on stage by a band. This, for me, took away a lot of the uniqueness and most of the time, drowned out Tim’s vocals and did nothing to add to the set itself.

Finally for us, we had the one and only Noel Gallagher to witness. With his high flying birds, this was a highly anticipated set and one he didn’t let anyone down on. Mixing his new stuff with Oasis material worked a treat, although as most of his new work is already full of sing-a-long and chant lyrics, it would be easier just to do a 30-45 min set of just that alone. But once again, hearing the crowd sing along to Noel’s lyrics was truly an experience I had missed since the split of Oasis and going by the reaction to songs like “Little by little” and “Supersonic”, I’m guessing most of the audience had to. Finishing on the inevitable “Don’t look back in anger” Noel rounded off a faultless set.

V Festival, sponsored by Virgin Media, is proud to announce the addition of Tulisa to the 2012 line up. The N Dubz star will make her V debut as a solo artist at this year’s festival, which takes place across the weekend of the 18th and 19th August.

The ‘Young’ singer will join headliners Stone Roses and The Killers and a veritable feast of musical talent including Snow Patrol, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Lawon, Rita Ora, Nicki Minaj, David Guetta, Tinie Tempah, Wretch 32, Ed Sheeran as well as her NDubz band mate Dappy.

The addition of Tulisa to the bill comes after the news that US folk singer Lissie will sadly no longer be appearing on the V Festival line up.

Noel Gallagher to receive NME godlike genius award 2012

Noel Gallagher to receive NME godlike genius award 2012

@nmemagazine / #nmeawards
The NME Awards 2012 is proud to announce that Noel Gallagher, the man who defined the sound of a generation, is the winner of its prestigious NME Godlike Genius Award.
Noel has confirmed he will pick up the award at the iconic NME Awards 2012, which take place at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on Wednesday 29 February
Noel Gallagher says: “I would like to thank NME for bestowing upon me such a great accolade. I have dreamt of this moment since I was 43 years old. I accept that I am now a genius, just like God.”
It’s been an incredible 12 months for Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, topping the album charts, scoring a hit with “AKA What a Life” and selling out arenas across the country. Defining the sound of the past year is no mean feat, defining the sound of an entire generation is truly extraordinary. As the mastermind behind Oasis, Noel spearheaded the resurgence of 90’s guitar bands with the life-changing, era defining album Definitely Maybe. Oasis sound-tracked what it was like to grow up in Britain in the ‘90s and beyond, with Noel responsible for anthems including ‘Live Forever’, ‘Supersonic’, ‘Wonderwall’, ‘Don’t look back in Anger’, ‘Cigarettes And Alcohol’ and ‘Little by Little’. These aren’t mere greatest hits – they’re national anthems, as ingrained in Britain’s musical psyche as anything The Beatles, The Stones or The Pistols ever produced.
NME editor Krissi Murison says: “For the best part of two decades, the voice of one man has dominated the pages of NME more than any other. That man is Noel Gallagher. Opinionated, intelligent, passionate and always hilarious – Noel walks and talks it better than any other musician out there, and it's just one of the reasons why the British public loves him so dearly. The other reason, of course, is the anthems. No individual has written as many sing–out–loud classics as Noel. His songwriting has defined a generation, and for that reason I’m incredibly happy to declare Noel NME’s Godlike Genius. That he keeps pushing boundaries as a solo artist proves that there’s a long way to go in the story of one of the most talented musicians Britain has ever produced.”
The NME Godlike Genius Award is an accolade that is only handed out to the true greats of the music world. The culmination of the evening, it recognises the best of the best. Previous winners include The Clash, Paul Weller, The Cure, Manic Street Preachers, New Order & Joy Division and, last year, Dave Grohl.
The NME Awards season gets underway with the NME Awards Tour. Headlined by Two Door Cinema Club with Metronomy, Tribes and Azealia Banks also on the bill it kicks off at O2 Academy Glasgow on February 8.
The NME Awards Shows also take place throughout February.  Justice will play a five date UK tour whilst Marina And The Diamonds, The Cribs, The Black Keys, The Drums, Kurt Vile, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Pure Love, Alabama Shakes, tUnE-yArDs, Charlie XCX, Band of Skulls, Oh Land, Little Dragon, Cloud Control, The Big Pink, The Jezabels, S.C.U.M, Zulu Winter and Slow Club are set to play NME Awards Shows in iconic venues throughout London.

FORMER Oasis star Noel Gallagher is to play the ECHO arena Liverpool in 2012

Due to high demand Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have added an additional seven new dates across the UK, including Liverpool on September 6 2012.

He’ll be playing songs from his new album, also called Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
Noel said: “My manager asked me who the High Flying Birds are. They aren’t anyone in particular. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds is me and whoever is around at the time of whatever it is that I’m doing, a loose collective kind of thing.”

FOLKS Free download, UK tour, Miles Kane tour and Noel Gallagher'’s High Flying Birds Roundhouse show

UK TOUR + MILES KANE UK TOUR + NOEL GALLAGHER'S HIGH FLYING BIRDS SUPPORT
New Manchester based six piece FOLKS have released a free download of a track called ‘Avalanche’ and start their own headlining UK tour this week before they go on tour with Miles Kane in October and support Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds at the Roundhouse in London in October.  The band will also appear on Radio 2 this weekend (Saturday 10th September) when Noel takes over Dermot O’Leary’s show between 3pm – 6pm and will perform two songs.
Bringing together classic song writing with emotive vocals and irresistible melodies, Folks make music to be listened to and enjoyed over and over.  The band were formed when guitarist and writer Michael Beasley hooked up with vocalist Scott Anderson, and they relocated to the US to record what would end up being their debut album, to be released early 2012.    On their return the duo pulled together a full band (Thom Fripp – lead guitar, Harry Gumery – bass, Wil Akroyd - keyboards and Elliot Barlow –drums) which ensured this group could also let rip live.  They kept themselves busy in a rehearsal studio, out of the way, letting the tunes evolve into another side of Folks – one with absolute precision playing and amazing stage energy.
‘Avalanche’ is available for free now via  www.facebook.com/wearefolks
