My TV is Dead to play Soundcity 2011

Playing at Soundcity 2011 this year is the belgian band My TV is Dead. They will be showcasing their new album "freedomatic" amongst other stuff. Heres a little bit about the boys

MY TVis DEAD develops a musical spectrum tainted with rock energy and electro samples, creating an hypnotic atmosphere lead by catchy vocals and killer guitar riffs.
The album “freedomatic”, mixed by Rudy Coclet, was released in March 2009.

During the live performances of the band, your imagination is brought into the shadows of the big cities, thanks to a mixture of video projections and 3D illusions, made by the Vdjay Patrick Lecoeuvre. This perfectly translates the electrical atmospheres of the band.

On stage, the duet is backed up by the drummer Cédric Guffens.

They are the only Belgians to represent Belgium during the international festival/contest
« Bilborock » in Spain, among more than 3000 international bands...

Joël Grignard (bass, guitar) et Amaury Massion (vocals) met during the creation of « Convulsions », a spectacular performance mixing rock music and contemporary dance. The show was exploring the various aspects of our modern cities. It’s actually in Berlin that the idea of putting the band together came true, and more precisely during a week of performances at the famous Tacheles. An artistic squat building located in the east side of Berlin. After the fall of the wall, it became a hype spot and a real symbol of freedom of speach for a whole generation.

My TV is dead’s music reflects this new reborn Berlin, a city constantly mutating, being at the same time wounded, generous, exciting and truly humanistic.

With « My TV is dead », you can feel the electricity in the air and the guitar riffs looks like adrenaline shots. There is a feeling of self-contained tension and urban anxiety that reflects our way of life in the city. In this universe, torn by rock energy and electro samples, the band never forgets to light things up with more poppy moments. And all of a sudden, it makes you want to dance !

During the live performances, you are surrounded by the shadows of the big cities, thanks to a mixture of video projections and 3D illusions, made by the Vdjay Patrick Lecoeuvre. This perfectly translates the electrical atmospheres of the band.
On stage, the duet is backed up by the drummer Cédric Guffens.

Hal Flavin to play Sound City 2011

Hal Flavin was formed in Luxembourg by two revenants from Europe’s capitals and a ferocious indigen. The recipe of their music features electropop song structures and beats, modified samples, distillations of rock and a chunk of edgy synth-‐pop.Compared by some listeners to Hurts, The Talking Heads or Röyksopp respectively, their sound has a hybrid ambiguity that sets it apart.
A series of gigs in the UK, France, Italy, Benelux and the Czech Republic has earned them the reputation of a thrilling live band with fusional energy.

‘The Talk’

5-‐track EP released 29/04/2011

Laptops, mystical trees, heaps of cables, flickering synthesizers, langourous guitars at a half-
over funk party and bytes engaged in forbidden modification procedures – this seems to be the habitat where Hal Flavin have spawned ‘The Talk’.
It’s a fierce electro‐pop EP, self‐produced with friends, mastered by Mike Marsh at   The Exchange Studios, London, and released on 29 April 2011 (digital 6 May 2011).
