Band on the Wall is thrilled to announce a series of unmissable concerts across the North of England by one of the most loved electric folk bands, Oysterband, reunited with long time collaborator, friend and folk giant June Tabor.

Twenty-one years ago June Tabor and Oysterband made a landmark album of dark folk together called Freedom and Rain - a union Rolling Stone called “a marriage made in heaven”.

"If you can't appreciate June Tabor, you should just stop listening to music", said Elvis Costello. June plus Oysterband's potent energy and top-flight musicianship made for something out of the ordinary, and they toured the UK and America with great success. Following this friendships continued while careers diverged.

However, a reunion to play a short set at Roots Magazine's 30th birthday party at the Roundhouse in 2010 sparked the chemistry again. Soon they were back in the studio, and with a new albumful of gorgeous tunes and brooding intensity called Ragged Kingdom, plus revisited and refreshed songs from 1991, June Tabor and Oysterband launch one of the most anticipated collaborations of recent years. And so it proved - at this year's BBC Folk Awards Oysterband swept the board receiving 4 awards including Best Group, Best Album and Folk Singer of the Year.

Tickets also available in person from Band on the Wall, seetickets.com or by calling 0845 2 500 500.

Blues rock fans will be able to purchase tickets to see Joe perform at four different London venues including The Borderline (March 26), 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire (March 27), HMV Hammersmith Apollo (March 28) and the Royal Albert Hall (March 30).  All concert tickets, including a very special Borderline ticket entry, go on sale on Friday June 1st from the 24 Hour Ticket Box Office: 0844 478 0898, or can be booked online from www.thegigcartel.com.

For those fans that purchase a special VIP ticket, this will enable them to attend all four concerts, including admission to see Bonamassa perform at the Borderline in London on Tuesday 26th March 2013.  The Borderline concert is restricted to a limited run of 200 tickets, and will showcase Joe’s atmospheric rise to the top of the guitar world, in an intimate and a reduced capacity setting of this famous London West End venue where it all began for the critically acclaimed blues rock guitarist.

Now’s your chance to get up close and personal in London with Joe Bonamassa at what is being hailed as “The Guitar Event of the Year.”

Hue and Cry Hot Wire Stripped tour comes to Erics Liverpool

Thu 3 May       Liverpool      Eric’s     0151 2369994/ Ticketmaster  £19.50

Scottish soul-pop pioneers Hue and Cry will be coming to Eric's on Thursday May 3rd 2012.

With the brand new Hue and Cry album ‘HOT WIRE’ being released on March 19th, brothers Pat and Greg Kane will be hitting the road again, this time to perform several intimate stripped down shows as a duo, taking in lots of venues all over the country during April and May.

The band whose new album Hot Wire - the first new album from Pat and Greg Kane since 2008’s Open Soul - is released on March 19th, will be performing much of their celebrated back catalogue as well as an introductory selection of songs from the new record. Hot Wire itself combines a love of Steely Dan and the solo work of Becker and Fagan with a sprawling template that includes songs reminiscent of Stevie Wonder, Sly and the Family Stone and early New Orleans’ inspired funk.

These special Hue and Cry Hot Wire Stripped shows will feature countless favourite songs along with an introductory selection of songs from the new album all performed up close and personal by Pat and Greg Kane who’ll be packing the keyboards, guitar and microphones for the trip. Once again, these are definitely shows not to be missed by any Hue and Cry fan.

Hue and Cry is a pop duo formed in 1983 in Coatbridge, Scotland by the brothers Pat Kane (vocals) and Greg Kane (Music/Production). They had a number of  hits in the UK Singles Chart in the late 1980s, and early 1990s.

Alongside Wet Wet Wet, Texas, and Deacon Blue, blue eyed soul-pop siblings Hue & Cry were one of the most successful acts to emerge from the Scottish music scene that dominated the charts in the late '80s. The duo from Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire decided to start making music together in 1983, when Pat Kane was about to graduate from university and brother Greg was still at school.

After releasing their first single, "Here Comes Everybody," through small Glasgow label Stampede in 1984, they signed to Virgin Records subsidiary Circa, where they released debut album Seduced and Abandoned, and scored their biggest hit, "Labour of Love," three years later. Top Ten albums Remote (1988), Bitter Suite (1989), and Stars Crash Down (1991) followed, but by the time of 1992's Truth & Love, released through their own label. Free from their commercial constraints, they released a series of experimental albums throughout the '90s, including a collaboration with composer Richard Niles (1994's Showtime!), the jazz-based Piano & Voice (1995) and JazzNotJazz (1996), and 1999's Next Move, which incorporated drum 'n' bass, R&B, and Latin funk. In 2005, they briefly returned to the mainstream when they lost out to Shakin' Stevens in the final of ITV pop star comeback contest Hit Me Baby One More Time. The resulting exposure earned them support slots with Jamie Cullum and Al Green, and in 2008 they released their first studio album in nine years, Open Soul, which was followed a year later by Xmasday.

The lineup, feature vocalist Ricky Warwick, bassist Marco Mendoza and guitarist Damon Johnson alongside Classic Thin Lizzy members Scott Gorham, Brian Downey and Darren Wharton have gone from strength to strength since announcing their return in May 201O.
Currently blowing away fans with 13 dates across the UK during January and further dates in February, Scott Gorham commented "The response has been amazing – there are some towns we haven’t played with this line up and demand for us to play there means we can add more shows – so here you are!!’

The band, who have not released a studio album since 1983's 'Thunder And Lightning', indicated earlier this year that they are considering recording new material together. Were this to happen, it would mark the first new music the band had released since the death of front man Phil Lynott in 1986. Thin Lizzy will play:

Tickets On Sale – 9am Friday 16th December 2011

Following a string of well received international dates throughout 2011 and the most recent UK concerts at The Lowry, Salford, Peter Hook And The Light have announced a UK tour for May and June 2012, visiting a number of cities for the first time to perform Joy Division’s debut album “Unknown Pleasures and returning to London for their second ever concert in the capital playing Closer.
Beginning in Liverpool, the tour sees Hooky and The Light play their second ever Scottish gig in Glasgow before returning to England with dates in Nottingham, Sheffield and Oxford, all of which are “Unknown Pleasures” concerts whereas the London date sees the first ever “Closer” concert in the city.
Tickets for all these concerts go on sale from 9am on Friday 16th December 2011.
Playing the albums sequentially and in track order, both Martin Hannett produced LPs are considered seminal, much loved classics and their influence remains pervasive today, both with fans and for the many bands, influenced by and who have taken on the template of Joy Division’s sound in the modern era.
“Unknown Pleasures” is considered one of the most stunning debut albums ever released and “still powerful enough to floor you 30 years on” (NME) while  on“Closer” Hannett’s incandescent production permeates the record alongside a band that had grown much in confidence approaching their second album.
Both albums have come to yield many landmark tracks, “Unknown Pleasures” with “Disorder” “Insight”, “New Dawn Fades”, and “She’s Lost Control” while Closer, considered “a start to finish masterpiece” by Pitchfork Media counts “Atrocity Exhibition”, “Heart And Soul” and “Twenty Four Hours” amongst its many highlights.
With each album in full during the concert, The Light also turn to Hooky’s early repertoire to perform many other Warsaw and Joy Division tracks, some of which have never been played live previously.
Since The Light’s debut of “Unknown Pleasures” in May 2010 at The Factory, Manchester, Hooky and the band have performed across festivals including Benicassim, Vintage, 1234 and toured much of mainland Europe, Australia, North and South America. 2012 will see a stretch of central European dates and a UK date in the North West in February at Buxton Opera House before the band return to Australia prior to the full UK Tour in May and June.

Peter Hook And The Light’s debut EP “1102 / 2011” was released digitally on Hacienda Records in May 2011 and as a extended edition CD with American indie label 24 Hour Service in December 2010. The EP takes its name from the palindromic recording date of 11th February 2011 at Blueprint Studio, Salford and features four tracks, The Light’s regular guest vocalist Rowetta’s interpretations of “Atmosphere”, “New Dawn Fades” and “Insight” while Peter Hook sings on the previously unfinished Joy Division track “Pictures In My Mind.” More at

NME Awards Tour 2012

THE NME AWARDS TOUR HITS THE ROAD

FEATURING
TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB
METRONOMY
TRIBES
AZEALIA BANKS

?nmeawards

The infamous NME Awards Tour is back for 2012 and ready to showcase the year’s most exciting emerging music talent. Renowned for giving the freshest new acts their first taste of national notoriety – past alumni include Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Florence & The Machine, Crystal Castles and The Vaccines – 2012’s line-up captures the spirit of 2011 and sets the agenda for an explosive forthcoming year of music.

Running throughout February, the NME Awards Tour kicks off in Glasgow (8th) and visits 12 venues across the UK, bringing the very best in new music directly to music fans, ending with a show-stopping finale in London (25th).

NME editor Krissi Murison says: “As far as NME Awards Tour line-ups go, it’s difficult to imagine one more exciting than this or more representative of the cutting edge sounds that will define 2012. Every week in NME we bang on about how brilliant these bands are, and this is an amazing opportunity to see them all on the same bill. Two Door Cinema Club are one of the most exciting live bands in the world right now, Metronomy recorded arguably the album of the year, Tribes are the future of British indie music and Azealia Banks is, well, pretty much the most exciting new act on the planet. It’s going to be a good one…”

Having quietly become one of the UK’s best loved bands, Two Door Cinema Club will headline the hotly anticipated annual tour. Since releasing their debut album ‘Tourist History’ in March 2010, Two Door Cinema Club have rapidly become one of the biggest new success stories in UK music. After selling out headline tours in the UK, US, Europe, Australia, Asia, Japan and South America, playing two successive sold out nights at O2 Shepherds Bush Empire and selling out the O2 Academy Brixton in under four hours, the band have deservedly earned both a devoted word-of-mouth live following and huge critical acclaim.

Two Door Cinema Club say: "It feels great to be headlining the NME Tour and be amongst what feels like a great line-up as well. We had a taste of the tour when we did the local support slots when the Tour came to Ireland with the Maccabees when we were pretty much just starting out as a band. We feel a real sense of achievement to have made it this far and be one among the incredible list of headliners on the NME Awards Tour."

Hailing from the tiny, bohemian market town of Totnes in Devon, Metronomy join the line-up this year. One of the most expansive and visionary pop bands in the country, Metronomy will be supplying the NME Awards Tour with proof that it’s possible for electronic bands to put on a show as authentic as any rock band.

Metronomysay: "It's pretty exciting to be part of a travelling tour, a bit like a circus or something. It's been a while since we did a tour this long with the same bands for the whole thing, so hopefully there will be some camaraderie between the bands. Failing that there should be some incredibly violent 'beefs' which will make for good reading in the magazine."

London quartet Tribes have gone from prodigious debutant slots opening for their idols The Pixies, to relentless grassroots grafting of the UK dives, to being lauded ‘the future of rock ‘n’ roll’ by the Mystery Jets.

Tribes say: “We're really f***ing excited to be going on the NME Tour. We're really happy to be part of it, considering the history of the tour, and the fact the likes of The Vaccines and The Horrors have done it before. Hopefully there'll be some good after parties too – we're all about the partying.”

New York producer/MC Azealia Banks, who has been steadily perfecting her craft and making a name for herself, has bagged the coveted opening slot for the NME Awards Tour 2012. Since her first steps as a child in off-broadway theatre productions to her training at La Guardia High School of Performing Arts – a breeding ground for stars – Azealia Banks’ seasoned bars and angelic voice give everybody a reason to rewind that track.

Azealia Banks says: “I've been reading NME since I was old enough to ride the trains, where I’d buy it on newsstands... it's almost surreal that I’ve been selected to participate in this tour... it's such an honour.”

Tickets for the NME Awards Tour 2012 will be available on pre-sale exclusively through www.NME.com from 9am on Wednesday 9th November. They will then be on general release via Gigs and Tours and Ticketmaster on Friday 11th November.
