Florida based rapper Terock releases new single HNIC

Florida based rapper Terock releases new single HNIC

Florida based rapper and hip-hop heavyweight Terock has today released his brand new surefire club hit single ‘HNIC’ via his own label Arrogant Minds Entertainment, which is available now on iTunes and through all digital retailers.

‘HNIC’ is a great reflection of Terrance Brock’s (AKA Terock) personal brand and sound, blending unshakable lyrical confidence with impressive urban beats to create a party-worthy club hit record.

As fierce a poet as he is a rapper, Terock cites influences such as veteran hip-hop and rap artists Nas and Outkast. Growing up in Tampa, Florida, as a drummer and a rabid fan of hip-hop and rap music, Terock performed his first rap song written by his older brother while still in elementary school. He quickly rose up in the Southern hip-hop rankings and started his own record label, 8522 Music (now Arrogant Minds Entertainment), to prove that artists can be major without a major.

Since then he has performed with Illsyadas, recorded a song for WCW Wrestler Evan Korageous and recorded six official full-length releases and over a dozen singles. He garnered a national distribution deal with RND Distribution in 2003 with the album Greenridge, the Untold Story and in 2007 released White Kollar Hustlin. In 2010 he showcased his wide range of musical influences on Black Market Music and after taking a break he is now back with his latest single, HNIC.

You can listen to ‘HNIC’ now on Terock’s official SoundCloud page over at https://soundcloud.com/terock813/hnicdirty.

It’s fearless attitude means the channel always provides a platform for up and coming artists.

I’m forever underground and I like to keep my music underground. Channel AKA is the only place I like to put my music because it’s a UK wide outlet for everyone to get – but it still feels exclusive.” – JME, Independent Grime Artist

The AKA team are committed to their unique position in supporting both independent and unsigned British talent whilst remaining one of the market leaders in urban music television. As well as unsigned talent, it’s always been important for the AKA playlist team to support artists from major labels and international acts.

"A channel like AKA is vital for independent artists and major record labels alike. It gives new UK urban talent chance to independently develop and be seen, and it’s a key platform for us to place our own developing artists." Darcus Beese, President of Island Records UK.

Going forward, AKA have secured new content deals with web sites Link Up TV and GRM Daily, bringing ‘Behind Bars’ and ‘Daily Duppy’ to television screens for the first time.
The new AKA app and website will enable viewers to watch the channel online, as well as select videos free of charge from their smart phone.

“Channel AKA is in great shape as there’s been so much exciting music coming through in this last year. In a broadly flat music tv market, AKA saw a 13% growth* in 2013 with the key 16-34 target, an audience who are famously supposed to be watching much less television! We couldn’t be in a better position with 1.7 million viewers** and with our rebrand it’s only going to get stronger” – Simon Sadler, COO Channel AKA.
Channel AKA will be re-launching on Friday 11th April at 9am. It broadcasts on Sky channel 385, as well as online via channelaka.com/watch.

Multi-platinum selling hip-hop star Tyga announces 2013 UK tour dates

tyga
Multi-platinum selling Los Angeles based hip-hop star Tyga is today pleased to announce four UK tour dates for late spring 2013 taking in venues at London, Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester. Tickets are priced at £20 – 40 (£40 London) and are onsale now.
The announcement follows the recent release of the star’s second album Hotel California, a searing slab of 15 tracks of potent Cali hip-hop that nods towards the glory days of Dr.Dre and Snoop Dogg’s rule of the West Coast. His 2012 debut album Careless World: Rise Of The Kind debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 selling 61,000 copies in the first week and Tyga went on to completely sell out every date on his last UK tour and eventually land the #1 position on the US Billboard Hip-Hop and Rap charts, as well as busting his way onto the UK album chart.
His debut tour supporting Gym Class Heroes (featuring cousin Travie McCoy) in 2008 was the first time this Compton native had visited anywhere outside of Los Angeles, but upon entering the studio to record Hotel California he found himself returning as an international hip-hop star – food for thought and something which provided enough material and inspiration for Tyga to write the complete album in less than a month.
The album features a multitude of collaborations from iconic hip-hop stars including Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa and many more, with production coming from an A-list roster which features DJ Mustard [2 Chainz. Meek Mill], Cool and Dre, Jess Jackson [Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj], David D.A. Doman [Kids in the Hall, Ghostface Killah], The Olympicks [Birdman, Lil Wayne] and more, each bringing their own unique take and energy to every track on the record.
Not just content with a glittering hip-hop career Tyga has also turned his hand to fashion and, with his own line of high-street wear entitled Last Kings, plus a collaboration with Reebok on his own line of T-Raww Sneakers that sold out almost immediately on release, there are no signs that this King is ready to stop ruling any time soon – expect tickets for these dates to fly off the shelves at a similar rate.
Tyga 2013 UK Tour Dates:
28th May - London Indigo2
29th May - Birmingham Institute
30th May - Bristol O2 Academy
1st June - Manchester Ritz
Tickets are onsale now – www.ticketmaster.co.uk or 0844 847 2424

MusicMafia presents Floodliners

Floodliners

MusicMafia presents Floodliners

It's very rare that you'll be bowled over by an indie band that's too young to legally drink at the bar they're playing at. Floodliners are a five-piece indie crossover band from South London who, despite all being aged between 15 and 17, have been making some serious waves on the scene.

Led by three girls with some serious attitude, Floodliners music quickly snowballs between indie, hip-hop and electronic very quickly, creating a somewhat original sound coupled with an equally aggressive style.

Dr Martens, Creepers, safety pins, denim shorts, glow-sticks and undercuts are just a few of the trademarks of the band that make them stand apart on the stage.

In March they beat 35,000 contestants to win the PRS Songwriting Prize as part of the Next Brit Thing Awards gaining the attention of the likes of The Sun, The Evening Standard and Music Week among others.

They have an ability to write songs that stick very quickly with an NERD-style backing.

Having just released a live-video for their new song 'U Can't Afford It' the catchy lyricism is remarkably present and the hip-hop-esque lyrics:

"VAT cause you know we can't afford it, Macbook Pro cause you know we can't afford it, skin-flat broke cause you know we can't afford it." You get the gist of it.

It's a track that, without delving too deeply into the current economic landscape, seems to perfectly reflect the feelings of what's being described as 'the lost generation.'

But having signed to SE13 Records it may be hard to feel sorry for this band, they have a unique edge and the track is also laced with a wonderfully whining synth sound that gives a raw track a commercial edge that's granted them stage-space with the likes of Stooshe and Pixie Lott, and messages of support from Ed Sheeran and Divinity Roxx.

The band are currently finishing up their debut album and host a quarterly underage festival called ‘Overload’ at the Amersham Arms in New Cross.
