Layby announce their second EP  Life's Great Illusions

Up-and-coming Nottingham based pop punk band LAYBY have announced their second EP will be titled  'LIFE'S GREAT ILLUSIONS'  and will be released on April 20th 2015.

The EP marks a crossroad for the five-piece. Having recorded with producer/engineer James Hill at Sheffield's Steel City Studios (Roam, While She Sleeps, Me Vs Hero) in the Autumn and Winter of 2014, vocalist Aaron John Bowes decided to leave the band at the turn of the year. Nevertheless the band have decided to solider on and release 'LIFE'S GREAT ILLUSIONS'  with Miles Kent coming in as the band's new vocalist.

'LIFE'S GREAT ILLUSIONS'  sees LAYBY build on the momentum of last years 'Bombsite' EP and offers five slices of edgy pop punk that sees the quintet become more focused, finding their feet along the way. In a burgeoning UK pop punk scene, LAYBY are throwing their hat into the ring with 'LIFE'S GREAT ILLUSIONS'.

1. Soundcheck
2. Chronic
3. Where I Stand
4. Kicking and Screaming
5. Losing Faith

"We fell in love with these songs instantly as we wrote and recorded them, and it'd be damn selfish if we didn't share them with you too. Our lineup may have pressed F5, but our desire to craft great music as a band is only getting stronger, so here's 'Life's Great Illusions'."

The EP will be available  digitally through Bandcamp and iTunes, whilst physical copies are available to pre-order through Big Cartel.

To mark the EP announcement, the quintet premiered the video for lead single, 'Chronic' over at Dead Press.

Adelphia Reveal Video for New Single If I Fall

This week sees the release of 'If I Fall', the brand new single from Nottingham's pop rocking quartet ADELPHIA.

'If I Fall' received its primary airplay last week from Kerrang Radio's Alex Baker, with the video premiering exclusively on Scuzz TV over the weekend.

Last year saw the band earn their main stage slot at Hit The Deck Festival, housed in their hometowns illustrious Rock City. They went on to earn a place on Download Festival's line up as part of the Red Bull Bedroom Jam experience, meaning they were lucky enough to record material at the famous Red Bull Studios. Not only that the band have been championed by BBC Introducing, who have played every single track the band have ever submitted.

For fans of You Me At Six and Mallory Knox, ADELPHIA release just a taster of their new music to come in 2015. 'If I Fall' boasts soaring melodies with a punchy singalong chorus, that you cannot help but get up and dance along too.

Live dates:

MusicMafia introduces Escapologists

Escapologists

MusicMafia introduces Escapologists

Escapologists  are:  Neil  Wells,  (bass  and  vocals) , Pete  Fletcher,  (guitar, production)  and  Nick Jonah  Davis,  (guitar,  keyboards).

Escapologists  are a Nottingham/Berlin based trio making dreamy indie-electronica that seems to exist within its own self-contained world. A world filled a sense of  yearning  and  nostalgia.
Recalling Talk  Talk at  the point where their  early indie dance-floor  hits  morphed into a more introspective body of work. Escapologists make songs of a pop sensibility full of distorted grooves and clean spacious  vistas. Vocally and lyrically,  singer Neil  Wells  relays  stories  of  loss  in  an  ever-mournful , dulcet  vocal. The  sense  conveyed is of  smouldering  fires somewhere  in  the  distance, always  on the verge of conflagration.

Escapologist (definition):
An entertainer who specializes in freeing himself or herself from confinement

'Conscience or Regret' is taken from Escapologists forthcoming album ‘Fireworks’.  It is an album that also  recalls  The Cure’s ‘Disintegration’: a sense of melancholy is woven into unexpected melodies, nuanced synth lines and guitar hooks that creep up on  you slowly  and  stay  with you a long while after.

‘Fireworks’ recalls the spirit of the early 80’s  in its  blending of post-rock’s  stylistic  and pop’s  melodic structures, but is one not of slavish replication, but a sound both fresh and wholly personal.
Escapologists album 'Fireworks' is out 1st October (also via Records, Records, Records label).

Mindz releases Recorded Delivery

Mindz

Mindz releases Recorded Delivery

Nottingham based recording artist Mindz stamps his name firmly on the map with 'Recorded Delivery' - a 20 track deep mixtape featuring a selection of hip hop / grime anthems.

Known for many underground features including the urban myth collaboration album entitled 'The Middle East Collection' (alongside Leicester based artist and producer A-Bomb of Yard 26 Recordings), and various features with Trans-Atlantic producer Endemic and local artist J.Gold, Mindz is fast becoming an established name in the East Midlands hip hop scene. Combining lyrical real life verses with hard hitting drums and both acoustic and electronic soundscapes, Mindz crafts pure narratives from the heart of Britain's inner city streets.

Now with his sights firmly set on the world stage, Mindz has emerged from beneath the surface with his new solo début 'Recorded Delivery'. Championed by Nottingham's BBC 1Xtra playlisted artist / Charlie Sloth's Fire-In-The-Booth star Micky Grim as "the best unofficial album / mixtape out so far this year", 'Recorded Delivery' sees Mindz dispatch a barrage of savvy wordplay and powerfully sagacious lyricism. Featuring production from the likes of Beat Butcha (Mobb Deep, Mac Miller, Xzibit), Kimbo Hareez (D12, St Laz) and Wizard (Verb-T, Ramson Badbonez, Taskforce), the mixtape flits effortlessly between hip hop and grime, with hints of dubstep, dance and soul thrown in for good measure. From the sample driven dusty rhythms of 'Up In Flames', to the arpeggiated trance-esque melodies of 'So High', underground purists will find as much enjoyment in 'Recorded Delivery' as the more casual listener, making 'Recorded Delivery' one of the hottest, and most musically interesting debuts you will have heard in a very long time.

Sharp Knees - Free download of new single Dont Leave Me

Sharp Knees consist of Sam Bennett (Vocals / Guitar), Jacob Alder (Guitar/Vocals), Shane Egglestone (Bass/Vocals), Jacques Moran (Keyboard/Saxophone/Vocals) & Peter Dean (Drums/Vocals). The band spent most of 2009 working on their 10 track self-released, self-produced, album, 'Certain Rules'. The album became an instant classic within their hometown, as they began supporting the likes of Everything Everything, Hip Parade, The Kabeedies and many more across the East Midlands.

The act went on to compete in the national competition, 'Kit Kat's Battle Of The Bands', which resulted in the
quintet performing at the Grand Final in London; an event that was hosted by, reputable musician, Frankmusik. The band were awarded the opportunity of playing at the 2010 V-Festival and Reading Festival.

In late 2010, they returned to the studio to produce their new track, 'Don't Leave Me’, which was produced by Sharp Knees', Sam Bennett, in the singer's home in Leeds, UK.

Sam stated, "Although it has only been a year or so, I feel we've progressed massively in that period of time. The band has developed both on and off the stage, and a more mature side to our music has emerged. Our album didn't have this same edge, so we hope that the new EP will demonstrate what Sharp Knees is now all about".

The band are now preparing for a studio visit in August to work on their forthcoming EP.

'Don't Leave Me' is available for FREE at: http://sharpknees.bandcamp.com/album/dont-leave-me
