Dark Horses reveal new single Live On Hunger
Dark Horses reveal new single Live On Hunger
Meanwhile, the single ‘Radio’ found it’s way onto the BBC 6Music A-list and saw the group win Artrocker’s ‘single of the year’, while Dark Horses also contributed - along with Iggy Pop - a song to last winters ‘A Psych Christmas’ album. Dark Horses also added their version of ‘Hello I Love You’ to a Doors covers album with fellow comrades Clinic, Black Angels and Dead Meadow, and lead singer Lisa Elle found time to bring grace and guest vocals to the Jon Hopkins Mercury Music Prize nominated album ‘Immunity’.
Now Dark Horses have announced their return with the release of a brand new single ‘Live On Hunger' (out April 7th), as well as a mammoth 18-date headline European tour and news of their long-awaited sophomore album ‘Hail Lucid State’, released this coming May on the Crystal Castles imprint, Last Gang Records.
Again produced by long time collaborator Richard Fearless (Death In Vegas), ‘Hail Lucid State’ marks the ‘Horses first release since last year’s sinisterly stunning and critically acclaimed debut ‘Black Music’. It also marks a whole new breed of Horse music. If ‘Black Music’ was ‘psych-tronica opiated soulscapes’, ‘Hail Lucid State’ is burning anxious punk pop, a progressive collection bursting with outright hit singles. Their floating transcendental synths now buried under a pioneering blend of Siouxie and The Banshees meets T-Rex. Urgent, catchy, and irresistible.
2013 also witnessed Dark Horses not only carve out their own niche of fanatical supporters, but saw them win widespread support from the likes of NME, Clash Magazine, Artrocker, Dazed & Confused, Mojo and The Sunday Times.
‘Live On Hunger’ will be released on April 7th 2014 through Last Gang Records. The new album ‘Hail Lucid State’ will be released later this year, also through Last Gang Records. Dark Horses will embark on an 18-date European headline tour this March.

Dark Horses Announce release of new Single Radio
Dark Horses Announce release of new Single Radio on 23rd July 2012
Fronted by Swedish siren Lisa Elle, a holy communion of Grace Slick and Siouxsie Sioux, Dark Horses are a leather-clad, neo rock outfit, whose name is proudly emblazons upon their black motorcycle jackets… gang chic style, along with the band’s motif… the mysterious red pyramid and the all seeing eye. Dark Horses come across as Stooges meets the Manson Family, mixed with Andy Warhol’s Factory art collective. And this only fuels the band’s mystique. Whatever the fuck they are. All you need to know is… Dark Horses mean it.30 November 2011

Introducing in 2011: WAREHOUSE REPUBLIC
Debut single Revolver out now. A statement of intent, so far winning great reviews, single of the week, independent radio support and a BBC Introducing play. “Dirty blues-rock vibes... messy soulful guitar solo... delightfully dangerous” (Islington News). Movie actress, Rachel Hurd-Wood (Peter Pan, Dorian Gray, Perfume), appears in the film noir video directed by Pedro Brehm. Being banned from terrestrial TV by OfCom has not stopped it getting lots of play online http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I08d4Wh4xQ8
In November, the growing buzz had them promoted from to headliners at The 100 Club. They packed the world famous venue like a sardine tin and sent the crowd wild, back to basics style, with electric bluesy rock n roll. This was their first show as a full band and it was incendiary. “A young shambolic Rolling Stones” (Star Soaked Music). A minute of the action captured http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRTiYo8ozE4
“Band of the moment”. (Camden Journal). Not resting on their laurels, they ended 2010 by recording two more tracks for a follow up double A-side release in Spring 2011. Axed radio station BBC 6 Music returns to life
BBC 6 Music, which costs £6m a year to run and has a weekly audience of 695,000 listeners, was one of the victims of a cost-cutting exercise announced in February.
But two months on corporation insiders have suggested it will be re-branded as Radio 2 Extra and will feature many of the same DJs and much of the same playlist as it does now.
The apparent change of heart follows an outcry from both listeners and a number of musicians, among them David Bowie and Lily Allen.
A public consultation into the planned closure of 6 Music is scheduled to run until the end of next month.
The BBC Trust, the corporation’s watchdog, regards the station as “distinctive and well liked”, and Sir Michael Lyons, the trust’s chairman, has suggested he might ask Mark Thompson, the director-general, to save the service if there was a strong backlash against taking it off air.
One Facebook group set up to keep 6 Music on air has more than 78,000 members, while 1,000 fans demonstrated outside Broadcasting House last month. The British Phonographic Industry has also protested at the closure, claiming it will block a much needed outlet for new bands.
The head of Absolute Radio, a commercial rival formerly known as Virgin Radio, has said that he would be prepared to take over 6 Music from the BBC and run it more efficiently.
Speculation about a reprieve has come a week after the station was nominated for seven Sony awards, the Oscars of the radio industry.
Lauren Laverne, its star presenter, received two nominations, while Jarvis Cocker, the former frontman of Pulp, was nominated in the “rising star” category for his 6 Music show.

Protest confirmed to stop 6 Music closure
A protest opposing the planned closure of BBC 6 Music has been confirmed to be held outside Broadcasting House this weekend.
Listeners of the station are being urged to turn up for the peaceful demonstration outside the BBC's West London headquarters at 12pm on March 27.
A number of famous speakers, DJs and live buskers have also been lined up for the event in order to create "an air of festivity".
Organisers of the protest wrote on the love6music website: "This is a celebration of our beloved station; a demonstration of support for the staff, musicians, and a collective show to the Consultation team that we do not want to lose our station.
"Come along to show your solidarity and support; bring a flask of tea and have a party all in the name of saving 6 Music."
